Project DIY Subscription Box Review

Project DIY is a brand new DIY / Craft subscription box from MJ Trimmings. Every box includes 2-3 projects inspired by the runway. I really liked the look of the accessory projects for the Autumn in New York Collection - so I decided to sign up!

Horseshoe Wrap Bracelet

Each project comes in it's own package, and on the lining of the package are the basics:

They also have a really nice iPad app that I used for step my step instructions - or you can use their Guides website.

The finished product! This bracelet probably took about 30 min for me to make and I love it!

Equestrian Charm Necklace

This might be my favorite finished product in the September box. I never crafted anything with metal jewelry before, so I couldn't believe how professional this ended up looking!

Suede Tassel Keychain

The picture they included of this keychain had different color tassels, but I decided to mix all the colors together for a more muted and uniform look.

Starter Kit

(Free with coupon code MJDIY5). If you don't have jewelry tools like these I definitely recommend getting the free starter kit - I needed these tools for every single project. (Plus it's free!)

Verdict: I paid $30 for this box and starter kit - and I'm very happy with the quality of the items I received. All the projects featured leather or suede material, and the metal pieces were good quality too. I also really like the design of all the projects - they're definitely on-trend in my opinion, and all items I can't wait to use. (I'm secretly hoping to get a compliment on one of the pieces so I can say "Thanks, I MADE IT!")

What do you think of Project DIY?

They do offer “suspending” your account if you don’t like the month’s box-you just have to go back and activate for the month you want.

Hi,
I just tried to subscribe using the ‘free starter kit’ code and it’s saying that it’s invalid. I clicked on the “Subscription + starter kit” not the regular subscription.

Help!

Thanks for letting me know – try MJDIY9 – I think that one should be working!

Has anyone received a shipping notice, or had their card charged? I signed up last week, and received a “welcome to MJ” email, but that’s all I heard from them.

Same here Chillybeans….I ordered and was not charged nor was the order reflected online. I contacted them and they said I would be charged this week and sent the Sept box….but then I am confused if and when I will be receiving the October box….which also looks AWESOME….either box I will be happy, I just hate not knowing when my card will be charged for some of these subs….I wish I had so much free cash that it wouldn’t matter!

Thanks Amy! At least I know it’s not just me….I checked out the October box and the September box is really more “me” so crossing my fingers I still get September….

This looks like an awesome box. I love making my own accessories!

I too have been eyeing this one and just took the plunge! You get so much for $30 and figured this is a good way to while away the long winter months to come! I have freakishly small wrists so love the idea of a custom bracelet and the necklace is SO cool and different.

The site says code MJDIY5 is not valid 🙁

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention – you have to make sure you add Project DIY Monthly Subscription + Starter Kit to your cart – not the regular subscription for the coupon code to work.

Hope that helps!
