PixieBar Review - Monthly Meal Subscription Box

PixieBar is a subscription box service that sends you non-perishable food and a recipe for one meal every month. This is a brand new service, and PixieBar sent me this box to review!

The Box: PixieBar

The Cost: $20 a month

The Products: All of the recipe boxes will come with a recipe card along with all pre-measured spices and non-perishable ingredients such as noodles, rice, etc.

The recipe this month is Pad Thai. On the recipe card they list what's included in the box, and what items you need to purchase.

Here's a better look at the ingredients included:

Rice Noodles, Palm Sugar, Fish Sauce & Tamarind Paste, and Chili Flakes.

I didn't make this meal since I need to know what ingredients are in everything I eat (I avoid gluten and dairy), but I reached out to PixieBar, and it sounds like they are going to be labeling all the food in future boxes.

Verdict: Even though I didn't get to sample this box, I like the idea of PixieBar, and I think it's a good alternative for anyone who doesn't live in the delivery zones of Plated, Hello Fresh, or Blue Apron. It also can be nice just to have a non-perishable meal on hand whenever you need it. What do you think of PixieBar?

I did not think the box was worth the price, Unless we are paying for the plastic jars. Also mine did not come with red pepper. Do not know if I will continue.

I really like PixieBar. Their customer service is excellent. My chilli peppers shattered in transit, and they sent me a replacement vile with quickly. I really like the idea, and sure, it is pricier compared to PeachDish, but don’t typically cook Asian style food, so I don’t have all the necessary spices and food. If I went to the store and bought a jar of fish paste…it’d go to waste after the one meal. Same with chilli flakes, as I’m not much of a spicy person, so I don’t keep it. I think given the company, it’s worth the value.

I buy those ingredients regularly, and this box seemed really over-priced for what you got. I would have been terribly disappointed.

I think this box is way too expensive. I can buy everything full size in less that $10.

I agree! I would spend the money on the full size and save quite a bit of money too.
