Whimsey Box Subscription Review - September 2013

Whimsey Box is a monthly craft and DIY subscription box. Lately I've really gotten into DIY subscription boxes - I just did my first For The Makers box and can't wait until my next Project DIY box shows up!

Whimsey Box is one of the least expensive craft subscription boxes ($15) and each month they feature one DIY project.

This month's project is a macrame wall hanging. This definitely had a 70's vibe to me, but I like the modern neon and grey colors they picked for the rope! (They also offered instructions to make a plant-hanger instead).

Each box comes with image-heavy instructions. (If you need even more step-by-step help like I do, they also have a lengthier tutorial available on their website).

My finished project! I decided I'm going to use this to keep all my hair clips in one place!

I had some extra materials so I made a quick bracelet too!

And Whimsey Box even included an achievement badge for me!

Verdict: I had fun making this project - I've never done anything like it before. And I'm pretty pleased with the results! Do you subscribe to Whimsey Box? What did you think of the September project?

I’m actually intrigued by the macrame! It is a useful skill to have, my Dad learned how to do it and made me a handle for my portfolio when it broke.

I loved last month’s box, but I’m not loving the 70’s macrame. I haven’t made my craft yet. I think I’ll use the pieces to make bracelets or something similar.

I just signed up with Whimseybox and, after seeing September’s macramé craft, had a quick look to make sure I WASN’T getting this. Ugh, shades of the 70’s planthangers! Hope October’s box is a little more 21st century. You did a fantastic job making your craft and very clever to make a bracelet too!

Where did you get the directions to make the bracelet?
