These work on both PS3 and 4, and XBOX 360 and XBOX One. (Their site looks super sketchy though, so I'm glad we'll get to try these without having to buy them from ShopGripit.com!)

Energems Mint Fusion Candies - Value $3

Gamer Wrist band - Value $2

I didn't get to try these Energems since they have milk in them, but my volunteer taste tester was not a fan of the after taste!

This box also included a sticker and candy cane!

Verdict: The December 2013 Loot Crate box has a value of approximately $35. The t-shirt and grip-it covers were a hit with my husband, and I think we'll likely gift the rest of the items. (I think that Ironman kit would be great for any school-age kid!)

What did you think of the December Loot Crate?

I’m still debating on whether or not to buy my boyfriend (or lets get real, my self) one of these! I’m worried I’ll get a month where I have no idea what the theme is!

I’m giving lots of boxes as gifts too. For the most part I was able to have them ship to me but otherwise I’ve just told the folks that I’ve ordered “a little something that will come to their house”…they’ve been thrilled.

My boyfriend subscribes to this box and I thought this month’s was one of the best ones yet. The sticker is of Catbug from Bravest Warriors on YouTube, if you haven’t heard of them I recommend checking it out, it’s really cute!

I got a six-month subscription to Loot Crate for my new husband and put the Dec. box under the tree for him to open. He hadn’t heard of Loot Crate nor knew much about subscription boxes, so this was all new to him. I think he enjoyed opening it and going through everything. We are a fan of shirt.woot t-shirts anyway, so the t-shirt and coupon were great. He also seemed pretty happy about the Grip It Control Protectors.

DH also got the Energems Mint Fusion Candies, and I ended up eating those since he doesn’t notice any effects of drinking caffeine. They were okay, not sure I’d buy them again, but I’d be curious to try the other flavors.

Yay! So glad he liked it – subscription box gifts are the best 🙂

So, if I may be chatty about this. . . sub boxes were kind of my go-to thing this past X-mas since we got married in Vegas at the end of Oct., went on a honeymoon cruise for a week in Nov., and then had a local wedding reception at the beginning of Dec. (In other words, I was crazy busy and too distracted to shop properly for X-mas this year!)

Anyway, Loot Crate worked out well, and I got a Bark Box gift card for a co-worker via Groupon, which was good. Last minute, we also ordered the Dec./Italy Escape Monthly box for my hubby’s niece, who spent a month last summer studying in Italy–she LOVED it when she opened it on X-mas.

However I ordered a 3-month subscription Birchbox for a friend, and even though it shipped nearly three weeks ago, she’s still not gotten it yet, which is embarrassing. And I got two other friends the Dec. Pop Sugar box–I don’t normally exchange X-mas gifts with them, but they were so supportive throughout the wedding-related activities/events that I wanted to send something for all their help this year… When placing the order, I was given the option to type a message, but no gift card/message arrived in the box. Maybe I did something wrong, but neither of them had any idea who sent the boxes to them nor did they get the heart-felt THANK YOU that I’d taken the time to write!

So, in the bigger picture, I kind of feel like I had mixed results with the whole sub box-thing as a gift… Not sure if I’ll resort to so many of these again next year or not!
