Now onto the items!

Loot Crate Review & Coupon Code - January 2014 Domo

POP Vinyl DOMO Superman - Value $12

My husband has so many of these POP Vinyl figures thanks to Loot Crate and Nerd Block that I bought him these mini shelves to display them on as part of his Christmas gift. Looks like I'll need to buy another set soon!

Loot Crate Review & Coupon Code - January 2014 Star Wars Book

NASA Patch & Loot Crate Pin

Star Wars Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide - Value $8

Loot Crate Review & Coupon Code - January 2014 Minecraft

Minecraft Mini Calendar - Retail Value $20

I must admit, my only knowledge of Minecraft is limited to the South Park episode I saw about it, but I'm sure we know a ton of people who would love this calendar, so it will go to a good home! (Or the upcoming Swap section of the site if I get any requests!)

Star Wars Pocket Model Ground Assault Game Pack - Value $5

This pack includes cards, fold out pieces, and an instruction guide.

Loot Crate Review & Coupon Code - January 2014 Stickers

Star Trek Communicator Badge Sticker and Melting Rubik's Cube Wall Graphic - Value $2?

Verdict: I think the January Loot Crate had a good mix of items and a great retail value (about $45). Even if you go by the sale prices on some of these items, the value still holds up!

As always, I think whether any particular month of Loot Crate is a great box for you depends on your interests. My husband's favorite items in these boxes are usually the super hero items, so this wasn't his favorite box ever, but the Domo Superman is already up on his desk!

What was your favorite item in the January Loot Crate box?

I agree w/the comments about their customer service. My son’s box was shipped to our post office, then for whatever reason, was shipped back to Loot Crate. I contacted customer service and received a lackluster response, and when they found the time, another box was shipped and finally arrived the same day we got notice of the next month’s box shipment. We’re still subscribing but teetering on canceling. Not as original as the first couple of boxes – just more of the same.

I STILL have not got my LootCrate! It has been all over this country but has yet to make it here. It’s so frustrating! And now after seeing this review, I don’t really care. Ugh! I will be canceling it now. Their customer service is atrocious.

They have recently switched to a new shipping method which definitely seems to suck if you live outside of California. My package went from CA to Nevada to INdiana then back to Texas and took about 10 days of travel time. I’m sure it’s a cost cut move on their part but that is the one thing that I am really disappointed with in Loot Crate. They used to be phenomenal with their shipping. Give their customer service an email and they have usually been quick to respond within a day or 2. They forgot my geek/gamer wristband from the Dec crate and they sent it separately. They are usually good at addressing issues.

This being my first loot crate box….I thought the items were awesome. My bf called dibs on the calendar and now its hanging at his workplace. Domo superman is pretty sweet lol wish I got that one instead of general zod.

what is the code on the bottom of the box for.

The code is the classic “Konami code”. It was a popular code back in the NES days of gaming and would give you extra lives and other cheats for video games. I was told if you enter it on the website you get random things happen, but I’m not entirely sure that’s correct.

This was my first loot crate. I was a little disappointed, but it sounds like a lot of people were, so I’m going to stick with it and see if next month is better! By the way, that minecraft calendar can be found on Amazon for $1.49 😛 http://www.amazon.com/Minecraft-2014-Mini-Wall-Calendar/dp/1438834004

January will be my first box and I have to say I’m dissapointed by this one. Never been a Minecraft fan and have no idea what it has to do with Space. Think I’m gonna cancel this one and try one of the other boxes.

As a lootcrate subscriber for almost a year, can I convince you to give it another month or two? I personally always give boxes at least three months before I decide to cancel. I know that not everything will be what I want it to be so I don’t let one box decide. For the record though, I strongly dislike this box as well. I have no use (or like) for anything in this box. The only thing I might like is the POP vinyl figure.

I helped a family member get a gift sub for my brother a few months back. It’s great that they have gift subs, but the shipping/tracking seems to need some tweaking. At least for gift subs? maybe regular subscriptions aren’t problematic? Or maybe we’re just unlucky!

First month, we got a shipping notification with a broken tracking link. It had been almost 2 weeks since the shipping email so finally had to ask for a working tracking link. Got that, and fortunately shipping was just slow. We don’t mind slow!

Second month, no shipping email at all and the package never showed up. They were really nice about sending out a replacement package with working tracking info though. He just got that one, yay!

They have been really nice to work with in general, but having to pester CS on a monthly basis so far feels a little high maintenance. Should he have gotten it by now? Did it ship? Etc etc. Fingers are crossed that January’s goes off without a hitch!

We had planned on adding more time but glad we waited now, I think we’re gonna hold off and hope they iron out the kinks. 🙂

We love loot crate(me, my husband and almost 3 year old son) Opening it together is so much fun. my toddler usually does the opening. last months box was the best yet. This month doesn’t look like it hit any of our geeky interest but will still be fun opening.
