Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Box

Q Box is a new monthly subscription box that sends subscribers in the US and Canada lifestyle items from Japan or Korea. Q Box kindly sent me the March box to review. (They sent it on time - I'm just behind in reviews!)

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Items

The Subscription Box: Q Box

The Cost: $24.95 a box

The Products: Q Box is a lifestyle subscription box, which contains 5-7 full size cute items from Japan or Korea.

Ships to: US and Canada (Canada shipping is $10).

Check out all of my Q Box Reviews!

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Info

The box comes with a sheet that gives you the details of each item included.

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Purse

Laureana Crossbody Tassel Chain Bag (France) - Value $25

In the January box they listed the retail value of every item on the included card, but not this month. (This item does have a Euro price tag on it though!)

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Pink

Paperdollmate Doll Pouch (Korea) - Value $15?

Kracie Kanebo Fragrance Candy (Japan) - Value $3?

This pouch is adorable and the candy really does have a rose scent to it - I couldn't try it though since I can't read the ingredients!

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Necklace

Gold Link Chain Necklace (Japan) - Value $12?

Q Box Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Lip

Dinoplatz Lost Identity Lip Stick (Korea) - Value $17

Fifi Lapin Happy Smile Hand Mirror (Japan) - Value $5

This Fifi Lapin mirror is so cute and chic, and I even love the matte finish on the illustration.

Verdict: If you are looking for an adorable subscription box - I think Q Box is it! The value seems to be great so far too! What do you think of Q Box?

Okay, so I tried to order the recent pikachu box, and when I went to purchase, it would not accept my credit card. The purchase did not go through.
After doing some reading, I am content not to receive this box. I will also be watching my bank statements for possibly any charges…can’t be to careful. Sad because it looked cute. The kawaii box seems better.

This weekend I got an email saying that the June Qbox will be delayed. They are shipping around June 15th instead of around June 1st. – Just wanted anyone who did not get or read the email they sent to know……….For me I got the surprise qbox and June will be my first real qbox. I only signed up for 1 month. I’m hoping it will be better than the surprise qbox.

As a global online shopper, I have to warn you guys don’t buy this box. All merchandises in the box are very popular in Taobao, the Chinese ebay. If some Korean or Japanese product once get popular in Taobao, there will be a lots of copycats that contains toxic ingredients. I saw the merchandise in the Q shop and I am 100% sure they are not cooperate with the Korean or Japanese companies. Some of the products are even mass produced.
It is a scam!!!!

I have to agree. This is disconcerting as I make frequent trips back to Taiwan (about to do so again next week), and I can tell you that all these things can be picked up at any night market for $5 total (and that’s still thru a vendor). Just putting it out there…

I started with the April box and loved it, although I’ll be attempting to swap an eyeshadow palette in it in Swaps here. 🙂

Cute stuff! Made me smile! Just got an email that my May box is on the way yesterday, so yay.

I did notice that they randomly charged my card 27 cents yesterday — a week after I purchased a box — and I need to call about this to make sure it’s not some kind of a scam where they think I’m not going to notice a random charge that small. They did it last month too, but for a different small amount, and I forgot about it until I saw that small charge yesterday. >:-(

If they do prove to be on the up-and-up, I do like the fact that I can choose each month whether to order this box (based on whether or not I’m broke at the time). I’d probably buy more subscription boxes if more of them were like this.

I would just advise people to check their credit card statements if they’ve been ordering Q boxes. Hopefully I’ll find out from them why they’re randomly charging my card for weird amounts at weird times.

Just a follow-up to my above comment — QBox say this charge is by my bank, as a “foreign transaction fee.” However, my bank says it didn’t issue such a charge and shows the charge as coming from “QBox” in Canada.

Despite the screenshot I sent to QBox of the transaction details indicating that the charge, in fact, DID come from QBox (from a location in Canada) and not my bank, I keep getting polite emails from QBox customer service telling me this is not the case. They directed me to this link on the website of Stripe, their payment gateway company as “proof”: https://support.stripe.com/questions/fees-for-customers-in-other-countries

So . . . I don’t know. I’ve already ordered boxes through July and I kind of wish I’d never given my credit card number to them. The whole thing seems kind of sketchy. I might get my credit card replaced just to be safe. :-\

FYI: I just got one of their $20 mystery boxes and it basically had the same things in it as my previous boxes: iPhone 5 ice cream cone case, stationery, necklace (arrived in pieces), makeup bag and cookies.

I was concerned about that when getting qbox. I used a visa gift card. Which based on your post I’m glad I did. Based on your experience I feel reluctant to order from them again using a real credit card. I just got my mystery box in the mail today. I got the pink passport holder which I’ll probably use, a pink makeup purse which is cute, and a few things I listed for swap: A icecream phone holder, butterflies. With the shipping and the items I use verses the ones I won’t I just dont see the value. On a positive note the shipping was quicker than I thought it would take.

This was my first box and I liked it. It definitely had the value covered. I didn’t think the purse and necklace really fit the typical or stated box curation though. Having lived in Japan and Korea I wanted to see the kinds of things I used to enjoy finding while shopping there rather than a purse I could snag at any Charming Charlie’s. The purse wasn’t even Japanese or Korean in origin so it definitely didn’t fit the theme. All said, it’s a cute sub box but best when it sticks to the stated themed lifestyle items we can’t get in another fashion/lifestyle sub. Especially when the items that don’t fit the box theme are the higher value ones. This thankfully seemed like a departure from past boxes so I’m hoping that June will be back on track. And I agree with the others here that the shipping is a downer but it’s actually very reasonable considering Fancy and other subs like them charge close to if not exactly the same amount for domestic shipping and this is international.

Great point – even though I did not get this box, the purse seemed off when it came to the theme. The shipping at $7.50 is high, what made it worse was if you get a mystery box and a regular monthly box it was $15! No combined shipping. Even if it was just a few $ cheaper I would like the idea much better, if anything I would purchase a few more boxes. They have one spoiler out on their site, even though I won’t use it and will either be swapping it or giving it as a surprise gift to a friend of mine, I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest of the items based on all the reviews.

The no combined shipping thing is kind of ridiculous. No argument with that! Sounds like an extra profit generator to me. I really hope they don’t try to copy other subs like Her Fashion Box and Social Bliss by including non-themed products because they seem to be what people want. They have a niche that is very unique and that’s the main selling point!

Alicia

I l-o-v-e everything in this box except the purse. The pouch! The candy! The lipstick! Even the necklace, and I’m super picky with jewelry! I might have to add this box to my ever-growing “wants” list.

WOW – The boxes are sooo cute. I noticed they are taking orders for the June Box … which I just ordered. They have mystery boxes on sale now :), for $20.95. I decided to get 1 of those too. In a way it’s nice because it will be a complete surprise for less than their monthly boxes. One thing is the shipping of $7.50 EACH BOX ( or at least that is what I paid ) makes the box a bit high priced for me because I subscribe to other boxes. After the mystery box, I will have a better idea if I like their boxes. If anything I might unsubsribe to one of the other boxes I get if to get their boxes on a regular bases. One thing I like about their boxes is they seem very unique compared to some of the other boxes I’ve seen. Because I’m not so much into make up I’ll know I’ll be placing the makeup items up to swap.

If you take a picture of the back of the sweets & let me know what you don’t eat, I can tell you if there’s anything you are avoiding in it.

Thank you for offering! I ended up gifting it, so I no longer have it. I’ll keep that in mind for future boxes though! 🙂

this is the special edition box, not the march box!

Stephanie

oops, nevermind. It is the march box. Sorry. XD

I got the special edition Spring box, and I liked it. But I am not going subscribe it, I hate paying $7.5 shipping fee for each box.
