BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds)

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon - August 2014 Sailor

I love BarkBox illustrations! This month's theme is Ahoy, Matey!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon - August 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included for the month.

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon - August 2014 Lobster

PetRageous Lobster - Value $6

Muddy Buddy Dog Mop - Value $10

I've been obsessed with lobsters since Phoebe explained that Ross and Rachel were lobsters, so I think I was more excited about this toy than our dog!

This dog towel is a win for us - especially with the upcoming winter/snow months!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon - August 2014 Treats

Bixbi Daily Essentials Chicken Brest Jerky Treats - Value $10

Bocce's Bakery Lobster Roll Treats - Value $10

Our dog is pretty picky when it comes to treats - but he is CRAZY for these Bixbi jerky treats!

Verdict:  We paid $17 for this box (6 month subscription) and received about $36 worth of items. It’s a great value at the discounted subscription rate, and even good for the monthly box ($29 a month). I really like that BarkBox goes with quality over quantity - the curation is definitely apparent every month. (And all the treats are always natural or organic, wholesome, and made in the USA!)

What did you think of the August BarkBox?

Sparkee and I received the same box that you did. I know he would have loved the lobster, but he had WAY too many toys right now, and this is quite an in-demand swap item. I used to think that Sparkee was picky about his treats, but he has loved nearly every one of the Barkbox selections. I love the towel more than he does, so there was something for both of us in this box:)

My little Cav Monster, Tango LOVES the treats from this box. I try to hold out until our box comes to buy any treats, but we’ve already made our way through most of the Bixbi. LOL. He’s pretty unimpressed with the lobster toy as well, but he’s picky with his toys. I still haven’t figured out his system. The towel is good in theory, but I haven’t really been impressed with it’s absorption skills. It doesn’t really seem to work any better than a normal towel. This was box 5 of a 6 month subscription.

We received this same box as well (I have 2 mini dachshunds). They love both of the treats ! My dogs are not very aggressive chewers, in fact I don’t think they’ve ever destroyed a toy, but they killed the squeaker in the lobster in about 5 minutes and chewed the mouth off a couple minutes later. We didn’t use the towel yet but it will definitely come in handy ! I liked this box a lot but I did notice that others got nautical themed bandanas and bow-ties also. I love BarkBox <3 This was my last box out of my 3 month subscription I received from Groupon. I renewed with a 6 month subscription this time !

The lobster was super cute, but for some reason my little guy was totally unimpressed so this is up for swap. On the other hand, he thought the BIXBI was amazing, and went nuts for it (which is saying something for my picky treat eater!) Luckily, the 75 pound wanna-be lap dog loves all treats so they can share these. The dog mop is FAB and will come in handy when the rains in Washington start pouring down!

we got the large dog – two toys – lobbie died a very quick death (lab and boxer = puppy destructos)
I wish we had received the mop/rag as my two pupalups get into a lot of dirt/mud but as always we LOVE barkbox and they still think ALL boxes that come now are for them

I don’t get this box but even an appropriately-sized lobster (I have a 95-pound Rottweiler) would last about 5 seconds before I would have to take it away. It’s actually why I’m hesitant to subscribe to dog boxes. I don’t want to pay for a plush toy that won’t last out the day. Maybe when my dog gets a little older and calms down? She’s not quite 2 years old yet and still pretty energetic. (My last Rottie was fine with plush toys.)

I didn’t receive the lobster. Instead it was a blue rope toy shaped as a ship wheel. Very sturdy. It’s the Bones Nautical Wheel Rope Toy.

This is my last box using the voucher which I can’t recall if it was from Groupon or Living Social. We are going to continue with our subscription. This is for the medium dog box although both dogs enjoy the box. Jax and Bones Nautical Wheel Rope Toy which my 5 year old claimed for his imaginary pirate ship, Feel Good Treat Co Seafood Chowder which both the cats and dogs love, Waboba Fetch which is the water ball thatwe use as a regular ball and is super bouncy, and the Grandma Bowser’s Cheddar Biscuits which they decided to bury.

I love the lobster and towel.

We get the medium size and also the large. I’m bummed that we didn’t get the towel. We do love our bark boxes tho! I am going to save the water toys for next summer. My dogs like to swim in the lake and I will not save water toys from year-to-year. I can’t wait to see what they send next month!

We got a bigger lobster, the same lobster rolls, a bag of cookies and a large float ball. We have the large dog box. I have had it since April of last year, and it switched from a 6 month to an annual cos the value and quality is so good. I got it for my then puppy who is now 18 months old. I look forward to this every month, and this is actually my first sub box! I have 3 other dogs, 1 is actually very picky, but besides him, everybody loves the treats.

I got the same exact box as you. My Chi LOVES that lobster!! I’m also a fan of the high quality treats, but definitely don’t have a need for the towel. Hopefully I can trade it for another toy. 🙂
