New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August

New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full size beauty samples and you also get a subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general the value is usually incredible. (FYI – this is a different subscription from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube which ships every quarter).

This month my box showed up earlier than I expected. (I'm used to getting a tracking email and waiting weeks for the box to arrive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 No Tube

Usually the beauty products arrive in a tube, but this month they included a note that there were too many products to fit in the tube - fine by me!

Each New Beauty Test Tube comes with a booklet thoroughly detailing each product included.

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Open

First up I had to open the Equitance box. (A box within a box is a subscription addict's dream).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Sampler

Equitance Brightening Collection Trial Kit - Value $37

I really like the idea of getting to try an entire skincare regiment to see if it's a good fit for you. Some of the samples are a little small (the SPF is the tiny foil packet in the bottom left corner), but I'd saw you can get at least a few days use out of the other items. (This set includes a cleanser, toning lotion, serum, cream, SPF, and dietary supplements).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Molton Brown

Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod Nourishing Body Lotion - 100 ml Value $14

Avene Thermal Spring Water - 50 ml Value $4

This is the largest Molton Brown sample I've seen in a subscription box - a third of the size of the full size version! And I love getting water mists in subscription boxes - they're such a luxurious treat!

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 ybf

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product - 2 oz Value $10

YBF Perfect Prep Face Primer - .5 oz Value $10

I've received It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product from New Beauty Test Tube before, and it really does make your hair super soft - I'm happy to have more. And I like the YBF brand a lot, so this primer will be used as well. (FYI - the primer was not listed in the info sheet, so I'm guessing there may be some product variation).

New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review – August 2014 BB

Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C BB Serum Packets - Sample

Miracle 10 Cosmetics Aha Gentle Exfoliating Cream - 10 ml Value $12.80

When I see the word exfoliating, I think that means I would wash off the product after using it, but this cream doesn't have exfoliating beads. Instead it uses lactic acid to gently exfoliate the top layer of skin. (You're supposed to apply a thin layer to your skin at night). I'm happy to read that it is free of parabens and fragrances, but I still need to find the ingredients listed online somewhere before I use it!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $88. I'm not sure how I feel about the skincare sampler kit contributing to almost half the value, but in general I'm happy with the products selected this time - even though a few of the brands have been in past boxes. I'm also happy to see not a lot of lower-end drugstore brands this month.

What do you think of the latest New Beauty Test Tube?

I just cancelled my subscription after being enrolled for a year. This box had 3 repeat products! YBF, Molton Brown and It’s a 10. Very small samples and disappointing!

I received this tube today and got the same items except I got a Josie Maran argon oil instead of the YBF primer. I’m happy with my first box/tube even though I won’t use the Equitance skin care box.

I just received my Test Tube today and cancelled!! I agree with Jenny, no full size products. At least I didn’t get a toothbrush!!

I just received the August Test Tube and cancelled my subscription immediately. It’s mostly junk and no-name brands. Or in the case of Moulton Brown peppermint lotion, a holiday leftover! The quality has declined every month. I’d rather take my $40 to Sephora or even RiteAid and buy a few things I really like and know I’ll actually use. After 6 Test Tubes I’m now awash in tiny little sample sizes of stuff I’ll never use. How can us know it’s any good if you get one, perhaps two, applications of a product?

Ok I was us about to sub until I read @ the tooth brush!! Horrible. Now is the box every month or every other month/ or 1 on 1 off???

If you had to pick which of the 2 Beauty test tubes which or would u choose this or the other??

Liz you had em all what would you choose? I’m trying to decide between this 1, boxybcharm, glossy bid blush beauy?
I need and LOVE skin care & hair products but even tho I don’t wear make up very much… I still love it! What box has the best combo of both? Oh & Good HIGH End/Quality is most important 😉 Which do you suggest Liz? Ladies??

I was very disappointed with this month. I usually love it, but it’s gone downhill the past couple of times. No full size products in mine, and instead of the YBF primer you have, I got a toothbrush byes, just a plain regular toothbrush! I cancelled until I see the next tube.

I can’t believe they sent a toothbrush! That’s ridiculous.

I am again disappointed in this box – third month in a row of lack luster TestTubes! I did not receive the YBF product, but got a toothbrush instead. I think it is time to cancel this box. So sad because I used to really love this subscription.

Deb

I received mine and I am seriously underwhelmed! So much so I canceled my subscription and sent them an email explaining ‘why’! A toothbrush – seriously test tube you need to find a more clever way to get rid of excess inventory!

This review validates my decision to cancel after receiving my Welcome Tube in July.

Renathree

I just went to their website to order and it says $19.99 a month plus shipping. Is yours an upgraded box or am I in the wrong place? Lol probably something I am doing wrong.

Just checked – you get a $10 discount off the first box.

I received the exact same box with the different lotion. I was mad at first because I really would have liked to try Molten Brown. The lotion included is bigger and smells really nice.

Jennifer @ Momsgotmail

I received nearly the same box, except they included a different lotion. At first I was mad that it wasn’t Molton Brown! But the one they sent me is worth twice as much, is bigger and smells great.

Thanks for the words on the YBF brand. I hadn’t tried their products before, and their primer has mixed reviews. Maybe I will give it a try. I haven’t found my HG primer yet.
