Building the #MSA01 Box – Simonetta Scarf

MSA Quarterly Box Ships Thursday + Updates

After the reveal post of the #MSA01 Box, I thought it would be great to do a post on each individual item in the box. I want to give you the background on working with the brand, how it came to be in the box, why I love it, etc. (If this ever gets to be TMI let me know, but I found this whole process to be so interesting, and want to share as much as I can with you!)

There are a lot of comments on the reveal post asking about where to get the Simonetta scarf, so I thought I'd do the first post about it!

My Subscription Addiction Quarterly Box Reveal #MSA01 Scarf Options

As I mentioned in the reveal post, I knew going into the fall box that I had to have a scarf in the box - and I love infinity scarves so that was my preference going into it.

Each curator at Quarterly gets a partner to work with for their box, and I let my partner for this box, Devin, know what I was looking for.

He provided me with a ton of online catalogs (available for boutique shop buyers, etc. - yay for Quarterly connections!) and I spent hours going over them and picking out my favorites. I kept coming back to this one, and even sent pictures of it to some of my most-stylish friends to get their approval.

I let Devin know this was the scarf I wanted, and we found out that it was quickly selling out, so I had to make a decision immediately. I didn't feel comfortable committing to an order of scarves without actually seeing/touching the scarves, so Devin got the samples overnighted to me.

I was thrilled to find out that they were super soft, and had the perfect length I look for in an infinity scarf, so I gave the green light!

We ended up getting a variety of four colors for the box for two reasons: These were my favorite colors and I couldn't pick a favorite, and we bought out all their stock, so it wouldn't have been possible to get only one color for all our subscribers anyway. Personally, I think it's nice sending out variants of a products (as long as I think they are all equally awesome), since you still get a little surprise with your box even if you have seen spoilers, and you can always swap for a different variant if you like!

So that's the story of the Simonetta scarf! To answer the questions about where to buy this scarf online, I'm not sure if it will ever be available online. The designer we purchased from sells to boutiques, and we bought out all of their remaining stock. There were also a few questions/comments about the value of this scarf ($25) seeming low. I agree. We only saw prices for wholesale, and I'm guessing in a boutique this scarf would retail for at least $40, but since I didn't have the price, I wanted to underestimate instead of possibly overestimating. (If we could provide a great value of a box with an underestimated value of the scarf then I knew we were good!)

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, I just realized that my scarf has a couple of snags and dropped stitches in it. It was finally cool enough to wear it when I found the damage. I’m going to contact Quarterly but wanted to make sure you also knew. (sad face)

Liz unfortunately my card had a fraud alert at the time of the charge for this box but they assured me they would recharge my card this week and send the box out! They told me not to worry and that I definitely wouldn’t miss out. I’m worried now though if you bought out all of these scarves will they still have one to send me or are they sending a random replacement?! I love this scarf so much it’s my favorite piece in the box! Do you have any insight? I’m freaking out!

I believe they should have a complete box from you, but I’d recommend reaching out to [email protected] again to get an update on the status of your package. If for any reason they don’t have your box/the scarf anymore email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to make it up to you! 🙂

I enjoy reading how the box is put together. I find things like this to be fascinating. Thank you for sharing.

It’s very interesting to read about the behind-the-scenes working of a subscription box. Im glad you’re able to fill us in on the process.
I missed out on the inaugural box but am looking forward to the second one. One of the reasons is the great curation and another is your focus on natural products. Thanks for a great site and all your disclosure 🙂

Thanks for the behind-the-scenes peek–so interesting! And I know what you mean about the length of infinity scarves. The first thing I noticed about this scarf was that it was sooo soft, but the second thing, was that it was the perfect length!

Hi,

If anyone has the navy scarf for swap or sale, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Thanks for this post! I was one of those who wanted to know the “behind the scenes” stuff in creating a box sub. I also thought the price was way too low for the quality, but I think that’s because it’s the wholesale price and not retail. I can’t wait to find out the rest of the story.

Are you already choosing stuff for the November box?

Liz, so upset that I was too late to get your box! I am subscribed now to get your future boxes! Any idea where we may be able to buy the scarf in black/grey?? I tried everyone on the swap site, with no luck. I would love this for an upcoming river cruise at Christmas time.. taking a grey and a black coat! You have exquisite taste. This is the best box I have seen and so happy I was able to subscribe to your upcoming boxes!

I got the red and black and just love it! I love everything in the box! And it is great that you are sharing about the items and the reasons that you picked them. Love the behind-the-scenes post. Looking forward to many more. Already can’t wait for the next box in November!

My box appears lost, I contacted quarterly and they got back to me very fast and told me they are sending me a new one right away. Any of these variations i would love for sure.

Never TMI! Love it all. SO interesting! Thx!

Fascinating! So interesting to read about this! Sadly I missed this box but I am waiting for November. Hope next box will be great too 🙂 I know you will try your best 🙂

Actually I knew you will put scarf(100%) and candel(50/50) in your box. Everybody knows you love those 2 things. But box nr 2 – suprice! I have no idea 🙂 I would love some nice gloves for winter. .. can’t wait, but I already know I will love it.

Not TM! at all! I love this peek behind the curtain at how boxes are put together. How far ahead of time did you start the whole process?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

I had been planning items I wanted to include since the launch of the box in June, and we really started making progress on the items in July. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Ricki

I got the red and browns one, and had to go find a sweater to go with it. I’ve never owned an infinity scarf before, but this one is amazing. Possibly my favorite item in the box (or maybe the candle or the lip gloss).

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Thanks for sharing the insight! I find it very fascinating to get a behind the scenes look at how a box is built. I look forward to reading your posts on the other items. 🙂

If you bought all they had and your box sold out how will I get a replacement since mine is damaged?????????

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Oh no! Have you reached out to [email protected] ?

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

YES, Twice. I’m going to miss out on this scarf arn’t I???I may just cry.

Molly

This may be the best scarf ever, and it’s really cool to read about how it made its way into the box. I love my black and white version, but I’m definitely going to have to keep my eye out for the brown and red one in my local boutiques.

Christine

Excited to see my box finally has really truly left Compton – says it is out for delivery right now! I hadn’t thought about which color I wanted but I suppose being in Wisconsin I ought to hope for Red (UW colors).

Reply ButtonReply

Anne Shaw

I love this scarf! I received the red and black one – and although I like some of the other colors too, I am glad I got the red one because I don’t seem to have any in red. It is very soft and super warm! I have already been wearing it because Chicago has gotten chilly already!

Thank you for the insight!

Reply ButtonReply

Tibi

Hey, I’m in Chicago too! 🙂 And I also got the red and black scarf!

I probably wouldn’t have picked this color out for myself but I love it. I don’t wear red too often and I think this will look fantastic with an all black outfit.

I’m really picky about infinity scarfs (they never seem to fall in the right place, or they’re too long or too short) but this one is PERFECT!

Lisa

Is this box still available for purchase please?

This box sold out, but you can still sign up for the upcoming November box.

I am I love with my sweater. Mine is the grey and black and I love the red one. I live in Athens GA. Go Dawgs. So it’s a red and black around here. Especially during football season. Also the lip gloss is wonderful too.
