Recently Walmart launched a quarterly Baby Box and Beauty Box. (Check out my review of the Beauty Box t00). This review is of the second trimester box (they will have other options available soon).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Walmart Baby Box Review - Fall 2014 Items

FYI there are lots of options for this box, but only one that is currently shipping:

Baby Box Options

Fortunately one of our friends is currently expecting, so I had the excuse I needed to sign up and review this box!

Walmart Baby Box Review - Fall 2014 MUK

NUK Orthodontic Pacifier - Value $2.50

Pampers Diaper Pack - Value $5?

I'm not sure how to estimate the value on this diaper pack "clutch" but here is what's inside:

Walmart Baby Box Review - Fall 2014 Diapers

There's one diaper and a pack of wipes.

Walmart Baby Box Review - Fall 2014 All

All Free Clear Laundry Sample & Dryer Sheets (5) - Value $1

Walmart Baby Box Review - Fall 2014 Samples

Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage bag and Disposable Nursing Pads (2) - Value $1?

Verdict: Based on my estimates this box has a value of about $10. (If you think the Pamper diaper set is worth more than $5 let me know!) The value isn't as great as the Beauty Box, but I think it's a good of mix of items for mom-to-be. Hopefully my friend can make use of everything!

What do you think of the first Walmart Baby Box?

The Pamper’s clutch was also in a free Target baby bag I got once (just ask behind the customer service counter for a baby bag – might require setting up a registry there? My first pregnancy they just handed me the pregnancy goodie bag, second pregnancy the guy asked to see registry.)

I don’t think it is worth more than $5, however, it was pretty useful to have a little clutch that held a diaper and wipes to take on stroller rides rather than bringing a full diaper bag. I used the free clutch for a while then eventually bought a $13 diaper changing mat with pockets that rolled up into a little clutch to hold diapers/wipes for the stroller walks.

These are items given free to stores to distribute to moms-to-be who signed up for a baby registry. I honestly wouldn’t even pay shipping cost as these items are not worth that much.

I didn’t really get anything free from my doctor and the hospital didn’t give me any of this stuff. I really like the little clutch purse. So, I think this looks worth it. Especially for only $5.

I signed up to get the 2nd trimester box on november 29, 2014. Today is January 29, 2015 and i have yet to receive my box. I have called several times and they keep telling me they don’t know why it hasn’t come. I am due in about 5 weeks and am a little irritated that they keep making excuses. Has anyone else had this problem?

I never received mine either. I was charged but it won’t let me sign into my account and they don’t answer any of my emails. I got my Beauty Box but never got this one. I canceled my Beauty Box because of the issues I was having with this one, actually. I don’t like giving money to places with horrible customer service.

I received the first box pretty quickly although, I was charged for box 2 in December and never received it. I contacted about it and they said they were having issues, but I havent heard anything back in quite some time. I also did their beauty box and havent had any problems.

I didn’t get a pacifier, but wasn’t sure if I had the right to complain since it is “free”

I agree this box isn’t truly worthwhile. I just had a baby three months ago. While I was preggers, I got everything (except for the NUK pacifier) free from the doctor’s office or registries multiple times.

I received similar items (and a lot more!) from my doctor’s office when I was expecting – they give goodie bags full of samples. Hospitals also give a ton of stuff when you deliver, so all in all, I dot think this subscription is worth it for an expecting mother.

Personally, I’d volunteer that the diaper pack is worth $0 since you’ll get the same thing for free at pretty much any big box store when you create a baby registry. To me, it’s the equivalent of receiving foil beauty packets in makeup boxes… In both my pregnancies things like that were either mailed from companies or were free goodies for creating registries. Just my 2 cents.

When I made the registry with BRU all they gave me was a bag of 2 breastmilk storage, a foil sample of diaper rash, some coupons. The hospital just gave me (from similac) a cooler with 2 little containers to store milk , coupons, measurement tape and comb lol. Thats it, I didnt get things like some people do.

I do think they should had added another product maybe, and again Wal_Mart does stays the items are free all you paying is for shipping and handling.

I mean, that bag isn’t really practically reusable since no one is going to carry that in public, but maybe once a child is potty training, it would be a good addition in the purse for just-in-case scenarios, so there’s a point of time when you might reuse that bag? that’s the only thing that would make it worth it to me, but i’m also not a mom so i’ve got no clue if that’s a theoretical thing or if you just still carry a diaper bag at that point

Oh, I’ve never carried a diaper bag. I do use a diaper clutch and stash a few diapers, wipes and a backup onesie in it. That said even a JJ Cole diaper clutch is about $10 (and their designs are cute and it isn’t a free promotional item) a single diaper costs pennies and a travel size pack of wipes is about $.99. However, again, Target will give you a similar one of these for free (plus other goodies, I think it included a bottle, milk storage bags, and a few other items the last time I was prego) when you create a registry with them.
