I just received my box today and absolutely nothing inside was worth a two-month wait. I got a different set of earrings than those pictured and I like them a lot but they’re not worth $100. That and the nail polish are the only things I think I’d use and I can’t justify them at that cost. Can you return an opened box? Regardless, I am definitely cancelling this subscription and moving on to something different.

I returned 2 opened boxes to Quarterly with no problems.

Finally, the box arrived this morning. I was ok with the spoilers, and once I see it myself, it is definitely staying. 🙂 Surprising I like this one. Hat is cute, and I can see using the purse for fun occasions. The biggest surprise is the earrings. I have the pearls stud, with good loops for backing. At first I wasn’t sure what it is, and went to the website, to see if there’s something similar, but can’t find any. I almost want to write them, and ask how to wear that. Then I turn the pearl stud, and it’s actually removable. It’s actually a very nice pair. All in all, although, there is less items than the last box, but I can see using it all. For the last summer box, I ended up traded half of the items away, so this is a win for me.

I was trying to avoid spoilers but from the number of posts on the forums I could tell people weren’t pleased with this box.

I am not one of those people. This is my favorite Nina box to date because I have use for every item except that ridiculously comfy beanie that I’m not sure I would wear in public.

I thought it was perfectly curated for fall, excellent nail polish color for A/W, elegant earrings for holiday parties, an oil for dry weather, a mug for warm beverages (this one is going to work with me since it’s fun but also professional), the sweater comb is spot on, and the fringe purse is on trend and a great fall color. Then the beanie … well, that’s not my style but it’s certainly fall appropriate and it’s also the style of loads of people in fashion blogs, so I can cope.

I already thought I would like this box; I got it today, and I like it even more than I thought I would! Truly, to each his own! For example, I know a lot of people liked it, but I thought the Arianna Huffington box was awful – it was the only Quarterly box I’ve ever sent back (and I’ve gotten a LOT of Quarterly boxes). The theme for the box was a good idea, but the execution was lacking. An alarm clock my mom gave me after she got it for free with purchase of a razor 15 years ago, an expensive sleep mask that didn’t even include the silk carrying case, lack of the tin that normally comes free with the purchase of the tea, and Arianna’s own book (which, let’s be honest, she got very cheaply or for free – but which was still considered a big part of the box’s total value) which she didn’t even take the time to sign (and that wouldn’t have cost her anything but would have added to the value!) made for a disappointing box. But that’s a whole other story…

Darn, thought I cancelled in time, but it arrived today (I don’t recall getting the email about being billed, but may have just missed it). Nothing in this box works for me. Giving the Ballin hat to hubby, but he already has lots of hats so was underwhelmed. Even the nail polish is a shade I already have like 4 bottles of. The face oil smells like olive oil that is not so fresh, but I can’t do oil stuff very often anyway. The purse…I got a solid black one and it’s just not cute at all. The fringe sticks out and doesn’t even hang down properly, making it look like it’s some creature being electrocuted. The earrings are very flimsy and feel very cheap. Even the mug has a fragile feel to it. I can see it getting smashed really easily. Sigh. Last box of this sub and such a disappointment.

You can still return it! They’ll take the whole box back if you don’t like it! It’s one of the nice things about Quarterly.

I got my box yesterday – all I can say is BRING ON THE HATERS – it’s AWFUL!! not at ALL what the first or second box was. I’m out

I got the box today. I try to never complain about subscription boxes, because it’s just the nature of them that you’re not going to love absolutely everything, but I’m just so disappointed with this one. The Pantone mug is just meh—and I’m a graphic designer so it’s right up my alley. I think the hat would work on somebody in their teens/early 20s… on me it would look ridiculous. I have enough nail polish and serums. They can seem like fillers in a sub box but I’d end up using them eventually. The handbag is actually my favorite item (I got the mink-colored one), and i might have kept the box if the earrings were the ones shown in the spoilers. The ones I got just look so cheap. The value on this box seems off… if it were $50 I wouldn’t have a problem with it, but for $100 I expect a lot more. I feel like a chump.

Hi Tibi,
You can return the box and get a full refund. I’ve never returned a box to them but I hear it’s rather easy. I would have sent Eva’s box back I i had spent the full 100 on it but I stacked codes. So I’m gifting it to my sis. I cancelled Ninas box before I was charged. I I got this box I would be sending it back!

Lucky you were able to cancel it! I contacted Quarterly last night so we’ll see when they’ll be able to get back to me with the return label.

Nicole

Just wondering if anyone else who emailed Quarterly on Friday hasn’t heard back yet. So many people have said they got quick responses and I’ve heard nothing yet. I verified that it went to the correct email.

Nicole

Just a update. I reached out to Quarterly on Facebook and got a quick response.

Got the box today and it’s going back ASAP! Got the black purse and it looks really cheap… what happened to the gold chain strap? Having that touch might have saved the bag. The earrings I got are crystal with crystal spokes – def not my style. If this box is cutting edge then I’m not! Sorry Nina but you’ve disappointed me for the last time. I’ll be looking for another sub to spend my $$ on.

I was ready to return this box after seeing spoilers, but I received it yesterday and while I wish there were more items in it (every other box had SO many things, all of pretty good quality compared to this one), I do like most everything and will use it.

I got these earrings but the “spokes” are all tiny pearls, which I am happy with: http://www.ruegembon.com/products/mette-gold

And I got the dark gray purse, which I hoped to get. Fringe is very on trend right now and it’s the perfect size for nights out or going to concerts. I only wish it had come with the gold chain strap rather than the faux leather one because it would look more expensive with the chain strap. It’s definitely not worth the $75 listed on the site. I would pay tops $40 for this bag. But I actually needed a sweater comb and I will use the mug, nail polish and oil, so really the only big miss for me is the hat.

I actually liked this box. I got the blue and maroon purse and, I love it. Never would have selected it in a store – but that’s why I get these subscription boxes – to try things that I never would have tried otherwise. I got some purple-gray-sparkle earrings and really liked those, too. The nail polish will definitely be worn, and I am anxious to try the serum. The simplicity of the mug design is appreciated – I received a light blue one. Not really a fan of the hat, but it is comfy, and I suspect that I will end up wearing it. Needed a sweater comb. Overall, this was a good deal for me.

After seeing the spoilers, I was supremely disappointed and underwhelmed and emailed Quarterly on Saturday. I got an email late Monday that my refund was processed and shipment was cancelled. On top of not being thrilled with the box’s contents, I wasn’t particularly happy about the continued delays and the delayed shipment even after being charged.

Reply ButtonReply

Connie

Just received email from Quarterly that they were able to stop shipment. I appreciate that Quarterly really wants to make their customers happy and will do what they can to make that happen.

Sher

I have tried to cancel my box before it ships (I have been charged but it hasn’t been shipped yet). I emailed them on Friday, and again today (Monday) and I haven’t’ heard back a word. Right now I am not impressed with their customer service. Can anyone recommend a better email than [email protected]?

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I’m in the same boat as you. So many people got responses on Friday. I still haven’t heard back and I got a shipping notification today.

Reply ButtonReply

Sher

Ugh, I hope we hear soon. I just received an automated response from them, which isn’t that much help really.

Blessedmommi

Hi Nicole,

I wrote on Friday and heard back early this morning. Please double check the typing of their email. As its .co and not com. If you placed a “m” at the end that could explain why you haven’t heard back. Hope that helps!

Liz Cadman

make sure it’s [email protected] (not .com) – hope that helps!

Liz, thank you!

Is this really all of it? I thought the previous boxes had something like 10-15 items in each. For $100 I would expect at least a $300 value, since it’s a high-priced box.

I am SO glad I cancelled my subscription. This box is a strange mix between drab (messenger bag, granny earrings) and wannabe stylish, but looking cheap really (obnoxious beanie). The filler items (mug, nail polish) do not look exciting either. All in all, I would have expected something more coherent sophisticated from Nina.

Reply ButtonReply

LT

I agree – but it isn’t as horrible as I originally thought. And my grandma may have worn pearls, yes, but certainly not with spike backings lol I thing these pearl earrings are going to be my favorites – feminine with a bit of an edge to them. And I agree with the beanie – my kids haven’t said ballin for years now (thank goodness!) but honestly, all the more reason for me to wear it – in their presence! 😛 No matter what color polish we got, we all have tons, I am sure. Remember, she didn’t send out polish, just because we got some in every other box, it is still fresh to THIS box. That’s where we all get so daggone picky, I think! I just got a scarf in this box, then one in that box, then what the heck I am so over with scarves that by the time this box sent one although they NEVER have before I hate the stinking box because I am on scarf overload, right? But I think this would be more on par with a $50 box. There I can say I am disappointed I shelled out $100 for this… for $50 it would be great. $100, meh, it needs something more. But oh well. Looking forward to the new-ness of the items in the box nonetheless 🙂

Jensi

Well, there WAS nail polish in NGQ03 (as well as a hat and a purse).

I don’t think it’s being picky, I think it’s being disappointed. The last box, controversial at it may have been, at least exuded the Brazilian / Summer vibe.

I expect cutting edge from Nina (the first two boxes were great), not something that drab (oh the colors!) and uninspired.

LT

Okay, so at first I was very much less than thrilled! Then I realized the whole idea of these boxes is to try things that maybe I wouldn’t buy for myself. Fringe? Not my thing. BUT! I will use it, for sure, even though I never would have bought it! I have my fingers crossed for something other than navy and red though as I received a bag in another box in those colors. Also, I see three things that could pass for sparkle, but it’s a stretch: the bag has a gold strap, the pearl earrings have a gold backing, and the beanie has what looks like gold embroidery. I realize all of our ideas of sparkle might differ – glitter, diamonds, ice, whatever it is, there is definitely some bling in there. That’s the problem with trying to guess what it is – we all built it up to be something that it isn’t and end up being disappointed when it isn’t. So, I kicked all those ideas to the curb and looked at it with a fresh perspective. In fact I have the perfect sweater to pair with the edgy pearls! I love the mug, and don’t care what color I get, but the numbers coincide with the number of the color in the PMS (Pantone matching system, not our favorite monthly visitor lol) color guide, not necessarily the year. I live in an area where all we have is 6 months of winter and a Wal-Mart, so I am happy with anything on trend, (read: NOT flannel, hoodie pullovers and jeans) and don’t care what my hat says, as long as it keeps me warm and dry. Now I am actually looking forward to this box. Planned to gift alot of it – not so much anymore 🙂

Thank you sweet baby Jesus I did not order this box. I feel awful for those that did 🙁 it’s totally different than her previous boxes. On a lighter note, I did order the MSA box #2 and I’m totally excited for that one! We can still have faith in Quarterly you guys! Keep your heads up 🙂

Oh my…..I’m feeling glad I pulled the plug on my NG Quarterly Co. subscription after the last box. And given the many delays with the current box, it looks like a poor showing indeed.

Sad to see what’s happened with the NG boxes after the 1st box, which was gorgeous, high quality and very tightly curated.

I’m going to give this box a chance. Often things look better in person than they do in photos.

I’m certainly not in need of new nail polish, this one looks very OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (which I have), but I’m always look for a deep new winter color.

I have to see the bag to determine if I would really wear it.

The earrings could be cute, have to see them in person.

My skin gets really dry in the winter and I’m a fan of Nude products, so we’ll see when it gets here.

Yikes, glad I didn’t… I’m picturing a group in a conference room
— “how about THIS!” as they pull an item up from under the table. The group laughs and the winner with the most hideous item doesn’t have to pay at happy hour.

Wow, the Ballin beanie is sooooooo mid-2013. I remember a bunch of the fashion bloggers wearing those a year and a half ago. I just searched for “Ballin beanie” and you can buy the same thing for five bucks as there are literally dozens of companies making knock offs (and have been for over a year).

I thought Nina was supposed to be on the cutting edge of fashion?

The purse is cute…but I am so happy I canceled!

This box is nowhere near as bad as the Eva Scrivo or the Arianna Huffington boxes – those were both just insulting in what was in them for the price. At least this box has some really nice items for the cost. But still – it doesn’t seem very Ninaish. I actually loved the summer box and was hoping for one more like it. Bummer.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara B

I hate that they keep putting items in there that people cant use. The phone cover last time. This time earrings. I cant wear earrings. I don’t get the mug. It’s not bad like the last one. But at the same time, this one is not for me. There are only 2 things I would use and none I would gift. Mine was already sent…. so I will be returning it. 🙁 I love that I can return it if I don’t like it.
