Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 Bag

Blush Mystery Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box from Blush.com. I’ve been very impressed with this subscription in general because of the value (usually over $100), the brands (typically at least a few high-end  lines), and the size of the items (everything is usually full sized or deluxe sized).

FYI – Originally this subscription sent out a lot of makeup, but lately it seems like hair products and skincare products are the most common.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 Info

The December was missing a card/info sheet, so I'm happy to see the January box is back to business as normal.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 coupon

On the flip side of the card is a coupon code for $10 off any $75+ purchase from Dermstore - JAN10.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 BB Cream

Cover FX BB Gel Mattifying Anti-Blemish Treatment in N Medium - .16 oz Value $7.20

SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream - .13 oz Value $9.50

This BB Cream/gel is probably a shade too dark for me (I still don't know why they send out skintone specific BB cream shades in this box since it isn't customized). I really like the formula though - it is very lightweight, provides coverage, and seems to absorb and go instantly matte.

This SkinMedica repair cream sample is probably too small to try for a week or two and hope for results, but with just once use I am impressed with how quickly the formula absorbs.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 Lipgloss

Cargo New Essential Lip Gloss in Vienna - FULL SIZE! Value $16

Glo Minerals Glo Lip Stick in Spark - FULL SIZE! Value $17

Good news - this lipgloss goes on sheer! (The almost neon purple shade goes on with just a hint of color and a very shiny finish).

I also like the Glo Minerals Lip Stick shade. This lipstick has a bit of a matte finish, and if I could change anything about it - I wish it was just a little more moisturizing.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 avene

Eau Thermal Avene Cleanance Gel – FULL SIZE! Value $20

Talika Bio Enzymes Mask (subscribers will receive 1 of 3 variations) Value $12

It's so weird to me that they sent this Eau Thermal Avene Clearance Gel in last month's box too. I'm not sure what the explanation is, but considering that the January box has a info card, and a theme, I'm starting to feel like the December box was kind of thrown together.

I haven't gotten a chance to try this mask yet, but I'm happy with the version I received - I can always use tightened pores!

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – January 2015 Eye

Medicell Advanced Moisture Eye Mask Duo - Value $10

Hydroxatone Headband - Value $3?

These eye mask gels are paraben and fragrance free, so I'm especially excited to try them. And this spa wrap/headband is a nice non-beauty item extra considering the masks included in this box.

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $94. If I ignore the fact that Blush Mystery Beauty Box sent out the exact same Avene product last month, I think this is a well-curated box. I like the renew and refresh theme. And so far every product I've tried so far has been a hit. Of course, factoring in the December box, this box feels a little off.

What do you think of the January Blush Mystery Beauty Box?

I am so disappointed with my mystery Beauty bag. Everything I got was just samples and its repeat samples.. what a disappointment!!

The only one who seemed happy with the box was the reviewer. Everyone else is canceling and disappointed. Glad I didn’t sign up for this one.

Looks like the spoiler for Feb is up on the Dermstore youtube channel! Looks great so far. I’m hoping on an awesome box for Feb!

I have the whole box already waiting to review – I guess I should get on it! 🙂

I actually didn’t mind Dec box, I loved everything. We have also received the skinmedica dermal repair cream but a slightly larger sample 0.25 instead of 0.13. This feels like bargain basement junk. I like the bb cream matte. It convered my acne GREAT and helps acne so I’m excited. I wish it was full size though. I like the dermal repaIr cream also because I used all my last up. It makes your face super silky.

There wasn’t any hair care finally yay! Besides the headband if you consider that hair care. Lol! Somethings could have been replaced with full sizes. This was defintely my least favorite box!

This seems like a pretty sweet deal for the price. My last lipstick was more than that, LOL.

(confirmed beauty junky here)

Just a horrible horrible box. going to stay until Feb because thye may try to tedeem themselves. If Feb sucks, dropping them & rewing with them ever again. Wrote a cricism of them on social media & they responded to be saying they will make up for iptheir mistake. Huh…if it was the 10% off coupon….I will never buy from Dermstore again, such an insult.

I cancelled this sub a few months ago after subscribing for a really long time. Not because I didn’t like it, just because I have so much stuff from all my subs. It was becoming overwhelming, so I had to cut my subs back. I’ve worried about this one though for the last year. Did anyone know that this box/company is owned by Target? Target purchased them in October, 2013. I wonder with the Target beauty box, if the Blush Box will go away?

I’ve never heard of the blush box but it seems like a great value! Bummer about them sending the same product twice! :/

This is still my favorite beauty subscription box. Loved everything, including the repeat face wash ( lost the last one). Hope this box doesn’t become like the New Beauty Test Tube. They used to be my favorite until they kept sending me the same stuff over and over again.

I was going to buy the bag this month but after seeing this preview, I am going to pass. Not interested in these items.

Yes, I thought the sorry email was ridiculous. Sorry you’re not happy come spend more money with us!

This box just made me angry, I didn’t like anything in it but the mask. The lipgloss is a weird shade, the lipstick is alright, but I just don’t wear matte lipsticks much. I did luck out and accidentally get 2 lipsticks. The BB cream was too dark, they’ve sent out the Skinmedica before too. I duno the value was high, but I hated this box I swapped almost the entire thing minus the face mask. I’m hoping February is better or I may cancel. I don’t like the repeat products they’ve been doing lately.

This was one of my favorite boxes a while ago. Great customer service. Yet the boxes dont seem to have the wow factor to me that they once did. I still shop on their site. I like that they offer free shipping and that if you put something on your favorites list and ad it to your cart that saves an additional 10%. I just dont have any desire to sign up for their boxes again right now. I’ve been reading the reviews in hopes I will see something unique in one of the boxes, or see a fun curation in hopes to sign up again, so far i’m noticing a box i once liked, i find boring

I feel like this box is going downhill. Most of this stuff could be found on sale for cheaper and it’s disappointing when they say at least $100 worth of product and it isnt.

The duplicate face wash was a mistake. They sent out an apology email with a 10 off 50 purchase coupon.

Meagan

Sorry, but how could that be a “mistake”? They sent it out 3 weeks ago to everyone, then broadcast it as their pick of the month.

That was no accident, and no mistake.

I was thinking that maybe the did some restructuring at the end of the year or something? It may explain the lack of card, the duplicate items, and the fact that the December box was nearly a week later than normal.

Was anyone else insulted that the “sorry” email was accompanied by a coupon where you have to spend more money with them? I emailed Blush as soon as I received the box asking if I could return and cancel my subscription. I have not received a reply yet.

Oh I was totally annoyed. At the very least they could have just given us a credit. It annoyed me so much that I cancelled. Granted, I had to cut down on subs anyway, but this made my decision easier.
