Moxie Box Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Box

Moxie Box is a new subscription box from Moxie Boutique. I first found out about it about a month ago when they offered a Living Social deal, so I decided to sign up! (FYI - Living Social deal no longer available).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription.

Moxie Box Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Info

The box came with a card with a discount code for the featured brand in the box - Wicks + Wax Candles.

Moxie Box Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Earrings

Moxie Boutique Earrings in Black and Emerald - Value $15 total?

These earrings remind me of gum drops! They catch the light beautifully, but I probably would have preferred to get two completely different jewelry pieces instead of the same style in two colors.

Moxie Box Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Candle

Wicks + Wax Travel Candle in Hazelnut Macchiato - Value $8

This candle is made with natural soy wax and smells like a delicious latte - it is my favorite item in the box!

Moxie Box Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Scarf

Moxie Boutique Infinity Scarf - Value $15?

I'm estimating on the value of the Moxie Boutique items since they don't sell most of these items online. I like infinity scarfs, so I was excited to see this, but it's such a thin fabric that it is better suited for Spring/Summer.

Verdict: I thought this box was pretty good - to be honest I wasn't sure what to expect from Moxie Box since it is a new subscription. I'm not sure if I'm over or underestimating the value on the earrings and scarf, but based on my guesses this box has a value of about $38. I signed up for 3-months for $55 - so I'm happy with the value, but I'm not sure how this box will stand up at full-price. I'm definitely curious to see what the next two months bring.

What do you think of Moxie Box? Did you sign up for the Living Social deal? What items did you get in your first box?

Just got my 2nd Moxie box today. I received a cheap, thin see through tank top…its awful. I received more ugly earrings. I also received a cheap bracelet. I will not reorder after my subscription is up.

I got the same box today. UGH! I wouldn’t pay $1 for the lot of it at a yard sale. The shirt is so thin and cheaply made that I will never wear it (even though I do like the elephant on it). The earrings are not my style and look like stuff I wore when I was 10.

I posted a review of my Moxie Box to Living Social stating that I was happy with the box I received since it was discounted, but would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. I received the following response, which I appreciate. My primary objection is that if the Living Social subscription will differ from the regular subscription, I think that should be explicitly stated. If it was, I totally missed it; I don’t think it was!

“Hi Carrie– Thank you for the feedback! We are glad you loved the scarf! Just so you know, the full price boxes do differ from the living social boxes and get more expensive and detailed. All the living social boxes have a retail value starting at $40. I apologize for you getting two of the same pair of earrings, we should have distinguished them better on our end. That is something we are looking at going forward. I am a small business owner and started Moxie Box as a way to grow and compete with the big wigs out there so I appreciate the feedback as this is a new venture for us. Hopefully you enjoy your second box more than the first. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Cari Rogers Owner Moxie Boutique”

So, as stated, I appreciate the response and we will see going forward!

I also signed up for this box through the Living Social deal. I bought the 3 month subscription. I signed up for it and never received a confirmation e-mail. Honestly, I forgot about it until I received my Birchbox and then remembered I had signed up for this. I contacted Living Social for a refund and the customer service representative, although willing to give me the refund, suggested that I try again. I did and still no confirmation e-mail. I e-mailed Moxie Box and they were quick to respond. They had the wrong address and said they’d send me a new one which they did. I received the box yesterday. In it was earrings, a bracelet, and a tank top. No scarf, No candle. I e-mailed them today after reading the reviews to see if I was also supposed to get a candle since they did include the discount card for that candle company. Overall, I am not really happy with this box. The jewelry is cute but the quality isn’t great and the tank top is similar to one I purchased at a street fair in Manhattan. Again, cute but quality isn’t great. I most likely will not continue to subscribe to this box after my 3 months are over.

I’m considering subscribing but after seeing this box I’m going to wait until I see at least one more. The value is pretty low all things considered, and the product sourcing doesn’t seem that special/unique. I never like getting 2 items of the same product category, especially just a color variation of 1. I could get on board with a more high end/larger candle and/or a different jewelry piece versus 2 identical pairs of studs.

Ditto to only receiving one pair of earrings that look like the basic pair you get when you got your ears pierced as a child/teenager.

I was intrigued until I read through their personal style survey and realized I would have two major problems: 1) they only offer up to size 14 without an option to say you don’t fit in the given range and 2) They don’t ask if you have pierced ears. That question should be a no-brainer for a box that sends jewelry.

This is the worse box. The earrings look like something an 8 year old would wear; mine were purple. The candle was teeny and smelly. In my profile I said I don’t wear pink, and what do I get? A pink scarf. The scarf is a cheap Chinese-made item. If I saw it in a store I wouldn’t give it a second glance. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this company.

I received the same scarf and my candle was pumpkin, smells good. However I only had one pair of studs in my box. I looked around very carefully, but it was definitely not in the box 🙁 I will have to contact customer service and we shall see…

I received the same scarf, the candle in lemon verbena, and the same style of earrings in green and silver. I was pleasantly surprised by the scarf and the candle, but the earrings are not my style. Once this box is added to the swap site, I will post the earrings if anyone is interested.

I signed up through Living Social for 3 months. I only got one pair of earrings. My infinity scarf is beige, blue, and pink. Lastly, my candle is sangria and it smells delightful.

Liz, it shows promise…however, I am not a fan of the earrings x2, I generally swap candles (I have an abundant supply due to my son’s school 2xyrly Yankee candle fundraisers! The scarf seems quite lux and pretty though! Is there a colr variance on any of these items, I wonder?

This box doesn’t look thrilling to me, the only thing I would’ve liked is the candle. I’m not a big fan of stud earrings. Has anyone signed up for the new Beauty Box 5’s lifestyle box? (I can’t remember the name) I’m super curious to see what’s in the first box.
