Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Box

Most of the time I can resist a Julep Mystery Box since I have way too much nail polish as it is with subscription boxes. But since this mystery box featured two colors I didn't have, and I could get the free Wedding Polish duo with purchase, I had to grab one! (FYI the mystery box is still available and the free wedding polish duo deal is still working!)

The Box: Cupid’s Mystery Box

The Cost: $24.99 (Free shipping for Mavens)

The Products: Cupid’s Mystery Box got a sassy upgrade this year. Rock your date night with $100+ of beauty goods and nail color including the snowy heart glitter top coat Yuki (Classic with a Twist), and pink chevron glitter top coat va-va-Valentina (Bombshell).

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Colors

Julep Nail Color in Logan - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Joanne - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Valentina - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Yuki - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Fifi - Retail Value $14

I'm so happy with the color palette of these colors! (Past mystery boxes from months ago tended to look like random shades from older seasons, and I really appreciate that this box feels curated). The two glitter top coats are guaranteed in every mystery box.

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Lip Gloss

Julep Lip Gloss in Posh - Retail Value $20

Julep Gel Eye Glider Pencil in Navy Smoke - Retail Value $16

I've tried both of these products before and I like them. The lip gloss I will use, but wouldn't buy - it provides good shine and wash of color, but it is a tad sticky.

The eyeliner is one of my favorite Julep makeup products, and I really like the Navy Smoke shade.

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Clutch

Julep Clutch - Value $5?

This clutch is cute, and well-made enough considering it is a bonus item in a mystery box.

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Wedding

This is the bonus Wedding Duo I got in the box using the coupon code CONGRATS.  (The really did a great job with packaging).

Julep Mystery Box – Cupid’s Mystery Clutch Review Duo

Julep Nail Color in Sienna - Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Fifi - Retail Value $14

I'm going to give this nail polish duo to my recently engaged cousin! (It actually doesn't say Wedding or Congrats anywhere on the packaging, so it could work as a gift for any occasion).

Verdict: I paid $25 for everything, and received about $140 worth of items. This may be my favorite Julep Mystery Box to date! What did you think of the mystery box?

I’ve been working with their Maven’s customer service and I’m disappointed in their response. I ordered the clutch and was not able to add any code (not CONGRATS or COLORFUN or the one in my last box, TAKE10), even though I saw that other people were successful. I didn’t want the clutch to sell out, so I ordered it and than emailed Maven CS. They replied with “sorry, promo codes aren’t valid with the mystery boxes.” I replied and pointed out that bloggers (MSA and MommySplurge) were able to use codes, and several of your commenters were as well. When she responded again, she didn’t comment about MSA or MommySplurge being able to use a code, only “again, sorry promo codes don’t work, it even says so in the fine print.”

I’ve been a Maven for almost a year, and this is my first mystery purchase based on Liz’s review. I would think they would treat all of their Customer’s the same, so it’s irritating to say the least.

You might try reaching out to a different CSR. There is nothing in the fine print of the CONGRATS code that says it is not valid with Mystery Box purchases. As for COLORFUN, that one expired at the end of January, so that could be the problem there. TAKE10 is not valid on Mystery Box purchases. I know because I tried it, too. lol

Thanks for the suggestion Ashely. Yeah, maybe I will try calling and see what happens. Thank you!

I am glad I waited to get the Mystery clutch! I got a different color lip gloss and gel eyeliner than everyone else. Lip gloss came in Splended and the gel eyeliner is in smoky plum. The polish colors were different as well. This was such a well curated box!

Be careful with the Julep lipgloss—those bottles are prone to breaking easily. I always store mine upright in a pen cup on my desk. I am too chicken to carry it in my purse as a lot of the reviews on that product mention the lipglosses breaking and ruining their bags.

I’ve just got to say, I can’t believe the staying power on that liner! I drew a cat on my toddlers hand as soon as it came, and it was still going strong 24 hours later.. after she spent an hour in the bathtub!

As good as UD, though I think I’d still rather the urban decay colors 🙂

Got mine today, wasn’t due to come until Tuesday so it was a nice surprise!

I got the clutch and two standard colors. The gloss in Splendid (so happy I didn’t get Posh again which I had gotten in another mystery bix) and the eye liner in olive.

I added on the mid level mystery add on which was sea salt spray that I’m happy to try.

I also used a code for one free polish and picked Luna, which I’ve been eeying for a month now.

My other colors:
Sandi
Queen Anne
Shari

I’m really happy with this purchase!!

I’m newer with Julep – if items don’t arrive on time, will they do anything about it?

I ordered my box by the Feb 6th deadline but it didn’t ship until Feb 10th and isn’t looking good for getting here before V-day which makes some of the polish included less usable (until next year).

I can’t seem to find the wedding duo to add to my cart? I tried searching for ‘wedding duo’ but that didn’t work. Can anyone help? I’d love to take advantage of this deal!

Search for Congrats – that should work! 🙂

I ordered this box too. I got different colors but was happy. I got a red orange, a deep purple/almost black. I also got the mushroom color but do not like it. I surprisingly really liked the gold from the Congrats kit. It goes on so easy and is so pretty. I didn’t like the chevron top coat, I felt it was hard to apply and all the chevrons are settled on the bottom so it’s difficult to use. Love the little heart top coat, want a second bottle lol. I’m going to try to swap the gloss and eyeliner I got though.

Had to pick this up based on your review. This will be my first Julep purchase. This was just too good to pass up!

I got Yuki & Valentina and the same lip gloss and eye glider, but my other polishes were different. I got Margit (mushroom w/rose shimmer), Myriam (casino red creme) & Jessie (deep Kalamata creme). I would not have purchased that lip gloss color (Posh), but I wore it today and I love it! I’m really happy with this mystery box!

I received the same as you. I also added on the major mystery, which was an eyeshadow brush and neutral eye palette.

i am so excited to get mine this week! I ordered after your updated “Congrats” post last week, and am excited for the new glitter polishes as a fun gift for my twin 5 year old girls. I may be the only one excited about getting two “Fifi’s” because I can make both girls gift bags with those two, and a glitter heart polish for each. In the end it’s just a fun mother daughter/father thing to do, so I am so pleased. Now if I only was able to get two “clutch” bags. Haha. They’ll have to share. Wish me luck! 🙂

Thanks Liz and everyone for the “Congrats” heads up.

What a sweet idea! If you want to let me know your email address, you are welcome to have my clutch for your other daughter. Otherwise I’ll be donating it within a couple of days since I won’t be using it.

Karm

Wow! That’s the nicest thing to offer! Well, if it’s no trouble, and in some way you have time email me at [email protected]. You would be saving me the “it’s my turn!” Headache. Haha, but really what an amazing offer to make. I can offer you another one of the polishes or even gloss. I’m not a member of the swap site yet, I’m actually new to all the subscription boxes, so please let me know about the clutch, if it doesn’t work out on the swap site. Thank you!!

chris

I also just posted the clutch on the swap site. Alternatively, you can request it from there if you want and I’ll send it to you if you don’t want to post your email address here.

I waited too long – “CONGRATS” is no longer valid. 🙁

Oh, duh! Thanks!

Did you put both items in your Cart first? People had that issue last time.

Adjani

It still works, make sure to add the congrats wedding duo to your cart before you enter the promo code. 🙂

I got my box last week, before the “Congrats” promo code and still liked it. It wasn’t as great as the last one since this one was mostly nail polishes. But I got two different nail polishes that I’ve been wanting, so it was a win win for me.

I just got mine today, same box. At first I was a little disappointed to get Fifi’s (one in the congrats set) but one of my friends or female relatives will be extremely happy lol. I added on the Wish List set to give as a gift and its BEAUTIFUL I want to keep it. I also did a mystery add on and received a the sweep eyeshadow palette in neutral w/ an eyeshadow brush. Overall very excited over all my new goodies 🙂 Thanks for the review!

I did the same with the mystery add on and got the same items, I was a bit surprised every one got the same exact box although I haven’t tried a mystery box in about 10 months because i was getting so many repeats; I ended up giving the extra fifi from the congrats to my mom, she liked it and has nothing that girly pink beyond opi bubble bath so yay!

Gigi

I ordered this box and really like it! The sparkle polishes are so pretty and I will absolutely use everything included. Am glad I took a chance on it! I had also ordered the Halloween mystery box last October and really liked that one too.

latasha

I received the exact same items and I am happy with everything. If i could complain about anything it would be receiving the Fifi shade in both they mystery bag and the congrats set but I don’t mind since one was free. I believe I have the posh gloss somewhere so I may have to gift that as well.

Just got my cupid box today. WOW! so many products for the price. Julep seems to have improved their mystery boxes. The past 2 mystery boxes I’ve gotten have been so much better then 8-12 months ago. I got the exact same products you did in your box. To me the clutch looked better when I ordered it, now that I have it, I find it just okay. Looking forward to their next mystery box.
