Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Box

Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription box for men. Their lifestyle items tend to be formal (think ties, cufflinks, etc), so keep that in mind when subscribing!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Momo

English Laundry Royal Aqua Cologne - Sample Value $1.50

Davines MOMO Shampoo - 2.5 oz Value $3

My husband doesn't wear cologne, so I'm never too excited about getting fragrance samples in this subscription, but it is a nice fresh scent.

I like the Davines brand a lot, and this shampoo has a unisex scent which I appreciate. The sample size is generous too - perfect for the 3 oz or less air travel rule.

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Skullcandy

Skullcandy Ink'd Earbuds - Value $16

At $16 I'm not expecting great sound quality for these earbuds, and based on the reviews on Birchbox that seems to be the consensus. These will be a good backup pair of earbuds.

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Parlor

Do The Right Thing Foil Packet Sampler - Value $1? (Bonus item)

Parlor Reworkable Hair Paste - .5 oz Value $4

I never like when a Birchbox includes both a fragrance sample and a foil packet in one box, but I was hoping this sampler would count as three separate items to review. (You get 10 points ($1) for each item you review on Birchbox). Unfortunately I only get to review the Dear Matt lotion sample, but I guess I can't complain since this is a bonus item. (Birchbox guarantees 4-5 items a box).

This hair paste smells amazing and is another great unisex product. (AKA I'm stealing this one for myself).

Verdict: This box has a value of about $25.50 - probably the lowest value Birchbox Man box we've ever received. I'm OK with having one low value box every year or so, so that's not a big deal to me - in general I'd say our Birchbox Man boxes have values of at least $40 or more. And at least the Parlor Hair Paste is a great discovery this month!

What did you get in your March Birchbox Man box?

Totally agree with the review here. Some hits and misses over time – but mostly hits. This month was a miss – but still had value. This month clearly the star was the Parlour creme (will probably buy in the full size) and I got a very nice and functional pocket knife. Both are great and good additions to my day to day. But the key with Birchbox is to be vocal about what works and doesn’t work. The more you review – the more you get your money’s worth. Every review scores you 10 points – which is a dollar back. And every month you get 4-5 products. So that means if on top of your game – for every $40 you spend – you get $10 back. Granted you’ll probably spend another $10 getting a higher end product you wouldn’t normally have. But after using this for 9 months now – solid choices – fun options – and good ways to step up your game.

Huge disappointment! My son was so excited to get this box. Her didn’t get the ear buds that he wanted. He did receive a motel type soap bar, Liquid Sand exfoliate, cologne that claims a full size bottle is $125, a small water bottle, wool ball cap and 3 tea bags, seriously tea bags? Canceling today.

Just received the March box. I selected the pocket knife as the sample choice for my boyfriend. For some reason I got that and the barebands watch! Great for me because my boyfriend doesn’t care for the watch. I’ll use it on my hikes/runs.

Could someone please explain how I can navigate to the Birchbox sample choice page? I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for three months but I haven’t yet received an email inviting me to make a sample selection, nor have I figured out how to get to the right area of their site on my own. Thanx!!

You can only pick your sample from the sample selection page through your individual link that should be emailed to you, so I recommend contacting Birchbox customer care and letting them know you aren’t getting the emails. They should be able to straighten things out for you.

I’ve never received an email with my female or male box 🙁 Guess I’ll have to do their job. These type of little work arounds are getting me quite frustrated with sub boxes.

I saw the yellow melon extract ingredient and a farm name on the Davine’s shampoo and had to research. They partnered with Slow Food, a great organization that supports local farmers, to create the shampoos using ingredients from different farms. I hope we see this in more boxes.

Again with the headphones….
how many pairs of ears do they think men have? well judging by how much they listen when spoken to, NONE!

Agreed. Got earphones in a previous Birchbox Man (January box I believe) and when I asked DH if he liked them, he said they’re fine but he already had a pair he liked perfectly well and didn’t need this new pair. Really hoping we don’t get any more earphones! 🙂

We got the BareBands watch that was from the sample choices, and my bf loves it! We also got Thann bar soap (by bf’s favorite thing to try), Billy Jealousy exfoliating face cleanser (great brand & product), and English Laundry hair pomade (another great brand). Our box gets a 10 out of 10!

well we got to choose the lifestyle item this month so I chose the Bison Made double wrap leather bracelet (for my 17yo son) and he loves it. (Cost: $40 @ bb)

He also got the Davines Momo shampoo, plus a pretty cool rice grain soap bar and a Billy Jealousy molding cream.

I’m happy — especially with the ability to choose one of the items a la the women’s box.

We didn’t subscribe early enough to take advantage of the sample choice for March, but we’re hoping to for April.

This was our first Birchbox Man. It’s for my 17 year old son. He got the Skullcandy ear buds, Billy Jealousy LiquidSand Exfoliating Facial Cleanser, PRORASO Shaving Cream, TOWELDRY Mid-Styler, and the same three foil samples.

I, too, was disappointed that we couldn’t review all three foil samples. Seems like 30 points would have been good trade-off for sending foil samples in a four item box. lol My son said the same thing about the ear buds: backup pair. He’s got a baby face, so he only shaves once a week or so, but he loved the shaving cream. The rest of the items are things he liked and will use up.
