Dollar Shave Club is the original razor subscription service, and they recently added a few new products to their lineup, so I thought it deserved a review!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Box: Dollar Shave Club

The Cost: $6 a month for 4 razor cartridges and a handle. (Other options available).

The Products: Dollar Shave Club offers 3 razor options: $1, $6 and $9 a month. They also have a variety of grooming product add-ons.

Ships to: US, Australia and Canada

This is the 4X Razor. For $6 a month you get 4 new cartridges. This is their razor they recommend for both men and women, so I tried it, and I think it works just as well as other women's razor blades.

Dr. Carver's Miracle Repair Serum - Cost to add to box $12

This is $12 for 2 oz, which should last a while. The serum is specifically designed to prevent razor bumps, burns and ingrown hairs. The formula is really lightweight and absorbs quickly, and I like that there isn't a strong scent to it at all.

Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter - Cost to add to box $8

This Shave Butter is my brother's favorite shaving product ever - it is all he will use now!

Dr. Carver's Post Shave All-In-One Moisturizer - Cost to add to box $9

I found this moisturizer to be very refreshing. And it also absorbs really quickly.

Verdict: I think that Dollar Shave Club is a great grooming subscription for men, and the best part is the pricing. $6 for a pack of 4 blades shipped to you is a great deal, especially since the blades are comparable to Gillette, and other more expensive brands.

I'm also really impressed with their Dr. Carver's line of skin care products. The prices are really reasonable, and everything is paraben free with no detectable scent.

What do you think of Dollar Shave Club?

Those who use these razors, a question from my husband: are the blades easy to rinse clean? He likes Gillette Fusion for this reason and finds other brands get clogged with hair because they can’t be rinsed properly from both sides. We might be interested in trying this out but he is. . . particular 🙂

The back is wide open, and it’s super easy to rinse out hair.

My son has been using and has been impressed. He shaves every day and says the shave butter works great (he has sensitive skin) and clean up is easy with no clogging. Hope this helps.

I would subscribe if they had plain packaging.

What about their packaging are you not liking? I find it to be pretty neutral.

“Shave time. Shave money.”

“Crusty. Good name for a clown. Not a razor.”

Basically everything that discloses its contents.

I have been getting thier products for over a year now. I started out with the four blades and then I moved down. I have to say, as much as I love the 4 blades, I had the one blade. I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. However, the 4 blades are AWESOME. I also love all of thier products except the wipes that they offer. I don’t know why, but these things burned when I used them-very painful. But the guys @ DSC, gave me a full refund.

I’ve been using DSC for a few months now. I started off with the 4X and then went to the Executive. I have skin that is extremely sensitive to shaving (especially my legs). The 4X was great for my underarms but I switched to the executive because my legs were still a bit irritated. The Executive is perfect. I also just started using Dr. Carver’s Shave Butter and it works great. I’m not sure if I will repurchase as I was using Kiss My Face shave cream that works great and is a little less pricey.

I switched to the Executive, too, for that same reason and am happy with it.

I love this box. I’ve been getting it for almost a year. The four blade is great.

How I wish they would carry a lotion razor as well as their regular 4blade offering. I and almost every girl I know used a lotion razor (like Intuition) or a 4 blade… or a combo of both for different body parts. The price for refills is INSANE.

I signed up for a subscription for my son and he loves it. He really likes the shave butter. I have found that customer is excellent and shipping is always prompt. I have it set for every other month delivery which seems perfect for us. Quality of razors are also excellent. This service actually saves money in the long run.
