Messy Box is a new scrapbooking subscription from A Beautiful Mess. I love my Happy Mail subscription, so I wanted to try this one out too. I have never scrapbooked, but I love their designs so much I figured I could use the items for something else if I didn't take it up! (They also sell exclusive scrapbook books and pages to go along with the sizes of items in this kit).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

First, there was a thank you note on the back of one of the cards from Elsie and Emma.

Days of the Week Washi Tape

This is my favorite item in the box! (And I love that Friday is listed as T.G.I.F.!

Oversized Confetti and White Brads

Elsie did a blog post using these items to decorate a scrap book, and I recommend checking it out if you are looking for ideas!

3" X 3" Squares

These squares are colored on one side and black and white on the other. I like that they are embracing Instagram sizing for their scrapbook!

3" X 4" Cards

These cards and the ones below are double sided as well.

4" X 6" Cards

messy-box-march-2015-pages

9" X 12" Pages

9" X 12" Life is Beautiful Transparency Sheet

These cardstock pages are one-sided and I love all the different patterns. I may try using them as background for framed photos.

And this transparency sheet can go over any large photo or any of these background photos. (FYI - it has a backing you have to remove).

Gold Chipboard Alpha Stickers

These stickers have a cardboard thickness, and I love gold-foil anything, so I'm excited to use them!

Verdict: I paid $22 for this box (6-month subscription), and I'm happy with the items! I think a large part of the value in this box is getting exclusive ABM designed items you can't get anywhere else. I'm not familiar with scrapbooking material costs though, so let me know if you think this is a good value box!

I disagree with those saying that this is not a good value. These are items that are designed specifically for the kits – you can’t find them anywhere else. Also, I have belonged to several other kit clubs prior to Messy Box; they charged far more and I ended up not using all of the product. I am absolutely in love with the May Messy Box and don’t regret my subscription for a second!

Liz,

If you’re interested In scrapbooking or card making supplies I highly recommend you check out this site: http://www.paperwishes.com/personal-shopper/monthly-scrapbooking-cardmaking-kits.html

I have subscribed to the scrapbook service in the past and have subscribed to the card making service multiple times. They also have 7 other kit subscriptions available.

Let me know what you think!

I actually think is a good box, I wished it includes a little more but I love the concept of scrapbooking monthly.
It takes a long time to find scrapbook items/ stickers & all. And this box is very different and I would totally use it (I haven’t find items I like so much as these to do a cool modern scrap book).

I’m glad I held off on this box. I LOVE their Happy Mail subscription, but I don’t think this subscription is worth the extra $10 they are charging for it.

I am a Scrapbooker, card maker, mixed media person and I have to say you got ripped offed!!! I feel bad that this company took advantage of the people who bought this box. I can pretty much get everything in is box for less than $15.00 and none of the stuff is creative! Very basic. I would be ashamed to send someone this box and call it beautiful let alone no ideas, etc. . .no flowers, adhesive etc. the tape is so basic and I can get at michaels in the $1.00 bin as with most of the stuff and find the papers on sales at Joanns for 3/$1.00 or 2/1.00. And it would take much searching! Glad I didn’t invest in this!! Liz, if you need scrapbooking materials, I’d be honored to send you a packed worthy box filled with awesome goodness for free! I can say they didn’t fill the box for one and it is not at all worth $10 let alone $20!

You MAY find items like this in those shops but i think this is a good box because like MOST sub boxes you get it for the package that comes to your door every month with items that are already picked out and a site that gives you ideas on using the items. Many boxes you can find the same items if you go out looking for them. For someone who is really into scrapbooking this may not be the box for them. Maybe they have time to go out and search for things and create things from scratch. I like this box because it gives you the tools to create something without spending hours finding items to use. Im not a scrapbooker, I’ve always wanted to do it to save memories but never had the time to go out and find deals. This box has a few nice things that i can use to spice up my picture albums.

So although for some this box may not be right for them, I don’t agree that it is a rip off…. There are many boxes out there that cost more that give you less and have even less thought put into it.

I agree with you too! I had been waiting and waiting for this kit and then when I saw the preview I was super disappointed. Most of it is the equivalent of stuff I have laying around here. I like that they give you ideas and all but I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to ordering it.

Thanks for the insight. I think the Happy Mail subscription is a great value since it usually works out to a little over $1 per card, but wasn’t sure about this one.

I ment to say it would not take much searching to find the items and to find them on sale!

That’s good to know. I also got suckered in. I bought it (only once) mainly because of MSA and because I thought it would be good to have some fun items for photographs. would be good to know where else to search.
