I got my Ipsy bag in the mail today! After I got it, I got the email saying it had been shipped – ha!
I’m new to subs so no repeats for me – trying not have box envy for some of the items I didn’t get…
Here’s what was in my bag – really cute bag by the way! IMO
– Klorane dry shampoo
– JulieG nail polish (Damsel color is really pretty for me)
– perfume called “Sophisticated and sensual” by myaromachology? (It’s ok, I guess but I’m not a perfume person)
– Too Faced Melted lipstick in Peony (I haven’t tried it yet but pink is fine/good for me)
– I got the “Fit” color in the eye shadow (it’s small, not my normal color, but it’s pretty and when I swatched it on my hand, it wouldn’t wipe off without soap & water! Sounds like it has staying power

I like Ipsy but I feel like they don’t take your quiz in to consideration at all. I have that I don’t like lip products or perfume and I get them every time. I have that I like consealers and tools but never get those. I even tried retaking the quiz three different times.

This month it became apparent that ipsy does not factor in any personalization from the quiz at all as my bag is full of items the total opposite of my likes, seriously each item came from a category I had not marked. I know ipsy only has so many variations of bags, but there were many other variations that would have fit my profile this month that I did not receive. I checked for my likes, hair stuff, concealer, mascara, mosturizer, perfumes and serums, but I received non if these items.

I think part of the problem here is understanding what ipsy is. There is no way to say that you “don’t like” products and they never say that they will only send you what’s in your quiz. All the quiz does is to identify your “favourite” type of products. They only make so many bag combinations, they are not tailored individually, so you will get things that you didn’t check off. I started to like my bags more when I limited my choices on the quiz, I only have about max 3 things selected for each category.

Totally agree with you. I am recieving tinted dry shampoo that is specifically for dark hair and I have blonde hair. Last month I received moisturizer for oily skin, but I have super dry skin. I’ve made these things clear on my beauty bio. It sucks to get things that I can’t use, & I don’t want to have to trade with anyone.

I was just able to redeem some points. The indie lee cleanser is only 250 points! The first time I have ever seen something less than 500 points.

In looking up the perfume it appears we are getting a full ounce and it might be the same thing as Harvey Prince Hello repackaged and an ounce is worth about $32. Is that possible? The lipstick is $8 (if full sized), the blush is $15 (if full sized), an ounce of the Lather is $10.50, and the eye shadow is worth $3 so the total would be $68.50!!!

I’m getting the KCO Colors lipstick, theBalm eye shadow, Hikari blush, Lather lotion, and Jo’rel Parker perfume. I’ve never tried any of those brands so I guess that’s good! There were a few other items I preferred but at least I didn’t get the Juice Beauty that I just got the full size of from BF!

I freaking knew it, they had awesome items this month and I got none of them. I got the stupid JulieG nail polish, so frustrated with Ipsy. I’ve retaken the quiz twice and my glambags don’t get better. How do you get all the lip products?? They had such beautiful colors this month and the blush was gorgeous, couldn’t get any of it.

I got the nail polish also, a floral perfume that will likely agitate my allergies, and yet another dry shampoo. (already have the same one from Birchbox) However I am getting a melted lipstick, which I’ve heard good things about, and I do like the eyeshadow spoiler. Would have loved the eye primer. The lipstick is still better than any makeup items I’ve gotten from Birchbox in nearly a year though.

Ipsy always releases spoilers on their Instagram account the first five business days of the month. They usually pop up in the afternoon.

I really hope I don’t get the dry shampoo. I have curly hair that I just can’t do second day hair with. I don’t use dry shampoo at all and have a ton of it.

I’m not familiar with this bag. Does anyone know if there is a way to indicate what types of sample categories you want to receive (ie. Skincare and hair only) or is it like Birchbox where you get whatever they send you?

Its very similar to birchbox, except you don’t have the option to choose any of the products. They have a basic beauty quiz, but in my experience they do not really use it, like for example they have a page where u can check off the types of products you like, such as lipstick or eye liner, but you mostly still receive products that you didn’t check that u liked. They make up a few different combinations each month.

Thanks, I guess this one isn’t for me. I’m looking for boxes that feature more skincare products. I’m on the fence about canceling Birchbox. I do like that Ipsy have the little makeup bags vs the boxes of Birchbox!

The Mullein & Sparrow stuff, if it’s the same one that was in Vegan Cuts last year, it smells like patchouli oil and has very little color payoff.

Me too! I get the Juice Beauty stuff every time it’s in the bag. I have 3 deluxe samples of the same item hanging around waiting to be used. Hoping to get some variety this time around.
