Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Tee

Kingdom Hearts T-Shirt - Value $10

This is an exclusive shirt design for Arcade Block subscribers. It's 100% Heavy Cotton.

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Pacman

Pac-Man Salt & Pepper Shakers - Value $15

These are adorable - and they go with our PacMan mug from the April Nerd Block!

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Retro

Retro Magazine - Value $7

This magazine is all about retro video games, and it's a pretty fun for nostalgia! (My husband and I were just reminiscing about how we used to buy game cheat books for our old Sega games back in the day!)

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Keycap

Treasure Chest Zipper Pull - Value $2?

Skylanders Figure in Voodood - Value $9

The Treasure Chest Zipper Pull is another Arcade Block exclusive. (They suggest adding to your jacket, hoodie, backpack, etc.)

Judging by the info card, it looks like subscribers will receive one of six different Skylanders figures. We don't have this game, but from what I understand these characters are both collectible figures and add-ons to the Skylanders video games - pretty brilliant!

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – April 2015 CD

Video Games Live Level 4 Album - Value $10?

This album is exclusive to Arcade Block, and it features Video Games Live performances. (Video game theme songs played by orchestras). Check out their videos to get a better sense of the music on this CD.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $53. It's a good value box, but wasn't our personal favorite just because of personal tastes. (That's pretty much always a risk with geeky boxes).

What do you think of the April 2015 Arcade Block?

This box was a bust for us. We cancelled like 3 weeks ago, but they basically rig it so you can’t cancel easily (you have to email them a month in advance, and I’m still not entirely sure our cancellation went through b/c they sent an email asking if I was sure like 3 days ago) so we wound up with this box too (not just the March box we intended to get).

So, about this month’s box, my SO hasn’t played Kingdom of Hearts, isn’t a magazine (or comics) fan, and says “I haven’t played Skylander because it sucks and you can get all of the achievements in 90 seconds.” He plays video games frequently, and has played 90% of the retro / classic video games back in the day, so I don’t think we’re being picky.

I with more boxes would include Kingdom of hearts. I know this is a super long shot but if anyone has a XXXL shirt my 16 YO 6’3″ son would love to swap for it.

It’s unfortunate Arcade Block cannot seem to comprehend that gamers aren’t necessarily children. Not only are the boxes disappointing, but it’s also incredibly insulting to a massive group of people. Sky landers is a kids’ game. The only crossover that ever happens in this box is nostalgic games that are still family friendly. Meanwhile Horror Block sends novels with graphic rape scenes. These people not only misunderstand geek culture but also manage to degrade it.

I could not agree more, seriously skylanders…. I wanted to pick a subscription box and get loot every month and when I was told about this one I thought this is the one, I checked the past boxes and I though they were OK, but this is just insulting. It’s completely aimed for children. I’m thinking about canceling already and it’s my first box.
