Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Tote

Golden Tote is one of my favorite monthly packages – and I think a good deal of my wardrobe is now from Golden Tote items!

If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from).

FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it. For returns it’s an all-or-nothing deal. You can return the entire tote for a refund, but you can’t return individual pieces.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Black White Dress

To Tie-Dye For Dress in Black - Value $42

(95% Viscose, 5% Spandex, hand wash cold, lay flat to dry)

This is one of the two pieces I picked out for this tote. It's slightly sheer in the white parts, so I'll need to wear a slip under it, but I'm still really happy with this pick. It's such a unique design, and the waist isn't super fitted, but it is still flattering.

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Tee Dress

Batik Dress in Black - Value $62

(95% Viscose, 5% Spandex, hand wash separately, lay flat to dry)

This dress is my other item pick. (Can you tell I'm loving black dresses lately?) I really like this dress. It's a very lightweight fabric, and it seems like a dress I'll be living in this summer. Since it's lightweight, it's also a little sheer, so this is another dress I'll probably need to wear a slip under.

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Black Dress

Sugar Lips Dress - Value $45?

(100% Polyester, Hand wash cold, tumble dry low)

This dress is completely lined! And I love the semi-see-through black knit layer:

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Blue Tank

Sugar Lips Blue Tank - Value $40?

(100% Polyester, Hand wash cold, tumble dry low)

This fabric almost has a suede-like feel to it! This isn't a top I would have picked out when shopping online, but I ended up really liking this bold blue tank.

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Tunic

Grifflin Paris Polka Dot Dress - Value $50?

(100% Polyester, Hand wash).

This is such a cute dress/tunic. It's long enough for me to wear as a dress (assuming I don't shrink it in the laundry). I love the gold button detail too:

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 White Top

ReneeC Blouse - Value $30?

(Front: 100% Polyester, Back and sleeves: 95% Rayon, 5% Spandex, hand wash cold, hang or line dry)

The front of this top has a silky feel to it, and the sleeves and back are a stretchy fabric.

Golden Tote $149 Tote Review – May 2015 Neckline

It's a great basic, so I'm hoping that having two contrasting fabrics doesn't making washing it a nightmare!

Verdict: I think I love everything in my tote this month! (That's pretty rare for me in a $149 tote - usually there's at least one item that doesn't work for me). It may be because I went back into my Golden Tote style profile and did some updates. What do you think of the $149 Tote? Did you get one for May?

Live, Love, Fabulous

This was my second time ordering, my first time ordering the $149 tote. I also LOVE everything I got. I’m trying to find where on the website I can leave feedback, because I want the same stylist for June!

I got the batik dress last month and it’s one of my favorite GT pieces ever. I ordered the black and white tie dye dress as an add-on this month but my order hasn’t shipped yet. I’m excited to see what my Jules Smith piece is.

For the first dress, you mentioned needing to wear a slip due to the white portions being somewhat sheer. I rarely if ever wear slips or tanks/camis and instead stick with wearing plain, nude bras and panties. It provides an opaque backing so there’s nothing to see and then you don’t have the extra layer of fabric to contend with taking up space. It’s especially helpful if something fits a bit snug already and in situations when you don’t want to detract from the silhouette or overall look of the piece.

I ordered mine the first day the website was working, and mine hasn’t even shipped yet. That was 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Is that normal? This is my first tote, and I went all in with the $149 tote.

I’m loving the latest GT items Liz has been getting!! I don’t sub (yet) but I’m curious if you get things in your bag you don’t like- how easy is it to swap with others? Do any GT subbers out there have any advice about that? I would appreciate it as $150 is a lot for me!

It’s SO easy to swap if you join the facebook swap group. Swap or sell-yes, you might get a few things that you aren’t a fan of, that no one else wants either, but for me my chosens usually make up for that. I’ve done four totes, and out of the six items I receive in a large tote, I’ve only had one or two missteps. Out of almost 30 items, i’m cool with that.

It’s very easy to sell or trade on the GT Facebook page. (look for “Golden Tote Trading Group” on FB and you can see all the action!

I think you are gradually switching over from boho to a more rock and roll vibe. 🙂

I really like the Sugar Lips Dress and the ReneeC Blouse. Cute.

Wow! That’s one of the best totes I’ve seen! Congrats! I adore that lil black dress surprise. Every piece is beautiful & practical. Normally I dislike at least 1 surprise item but I Love them all! They are All totally my style too. Sometime I think They must know you review their totes online to thousands of people? Or have there surprises have just gotten better?
I haven’t been able to get one for 4-6 months, but I still study & obsess over each collection! 🙂 lol
