POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Info

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Towel

Sisters of Los Angeles Surf Sand Love Beach Towel - Value $40

The info card describes this towel as "POPSUGAR-designed" so I'm guessing that means it is an exclusive for POPSUGAR subscribers. I'm excited to see a beach towel in a subscription box! The colors are fun, and I love the yellow stripes too.

Here is the full towel design:

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon MK

Middle Kingdom Mini Plum Vase in Coral Red - Value $20

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Box open

I love that this value comes packaged ready to gift!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Vase

It's a gorgeous little bud vase, and I love the color. I think this would be great to keep or to gift with some flowers.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Kitsch

Kitsch Tri'd & True Y-Shaped Necklace - Value $32

Another item ready to gift! I love that this necklace came in a jewelry box. And the inside of the box has a pretty postcard vibe too:

Here is the necklace on the dress form to give a better sense of length:

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Detail

I love the delicate chain detail. I normally stick to gold jewelry, but I think I'll wear this one!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Batiste

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Travel Size Value $4

This is one of those cult-classic drugstore beauty items. I've used Batiste before and I like their dry shampoo a lot. I'm just a little over getting dry shampoo in subscription boxes, so this wasn't a particularly exciting item for me.

Sage & Row Bare Shave Cream - Value $17

This is a new-to-me brand, and I like that the formula is paraben and sulfate free! The scent is pleasant and not too strong - and it turns out Sage & Row has their own shaving subscription!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May 2015 Review + Coupon Taffy

Hammond's Candies McCraw's Flat Taffy - Value $1

Just an FYI on this candy - the info card states that it is free of artificial colors and flavors, but the ingredients list out several artificial colors. (I'm allergic to Red Dye 40, so I wanted to make sure I pointed that out in case anyone else is allergic).

My husband has no problem being the official POPSUGAR snack taste tester though - and he said this taffy was "amazing!"

Verdict: This box has a value of about $114. I think the value is good, and I'll use everything in the box, so I'm happy with the contents as well. I also like that two of the items are boxed and ready to gift if they aren't for you! This box doesn't seem as cohesive as some of the other boxes have been when it comes to theme, but I think that's probably bound to happen every few months.

What do you think of the May 2015 POPSUGAR Must Have box?

Hey guys – I’m late with this question but does anyone have a May 2015 box they would like to sell? Or do you know of anywhere I can buy one? Does PopSugar do wait list for a box that’s not the last one? Thanks! Getting my first box this month but I really, really want this May box too! 🙂

Quick question ladies,

I’m finally getting to really opening my individual items and my Kitsch necklace is ANYTHING but 36 inches. I was so excited too, because I thought it would be a perfect necklace for a plus size gal. Did I just get the wrong one by mistake? Am I wearing it wrong?

Also, from the month before…is the “button” on top of the umbrella supposed to be kind of loose?

I may have to email PopSugar…

I really wanted this box and so far my first three months have been a little sketchy, yet there are things from past months that I look at on eBay and would love to have.

I’m also pretty disappointed in Ipsy for what it’s worth.

Thanks,

Sarah

I’ve been waiting to renew my subscription for a promo– I renewed in December around black Friday, and I think I got 20% off (some type of discount). I know last year in June or July they had a promo I used, too.. I wonder if they aren’t doing that anymore? Has anyone seen any new promos?

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

I’m looking for a good promo too! There hasn’t been anything decent since Black Friday. $5 off a month at a time seems to be the only way while we wait.

Has anyone else received a vase in a different shape? Mine is the same color but has a rounded bottom with a long thin neck. I don’t know if I like the one I got or the one pictured better!

If you go to their website (http://www.mkporcelain.com/the-collection/) it’s number 7 from the left.

Helen

I think you got a rogue vase. All the others on the swap site are the same squat shape, yours is more like a traditional bud vase.
If you dislike it, you can contact Popsugar for a replacement.

Price does not equal value. This is what drives me crazy sometimes. Just because Popsugar puts a “retail price” on something does not mean its actually worth that amount. Would I actually pay $40 for that towel? Never! I always consider the “value” of my box to be how much I would actually pay for each item and then determine whether it was worth the monthly subscription price.

Were all necklaces silver? Did anyone get gold?

Last month’s box was the first box I got from PS. I wasn’t super crazy about it, and except for the umbrella, not sure how much of the other stuff I’m going to use. But Mays box is GREAT! I will use everything in the box! LOVE the towel, little bud vase and necklace. I have a ton of dry shampoo samples, so I’ll add that into the mix….and I will definitely use the shave creme. Can’t wait till June! Where do all you guys swap?

I just got my box and love it! When I first saw this review I was worried that the box was a dud, but after seeing the vase and the necklace in person I LOVE them. The necklace is so pretty and dainty. I am having a hard time finding how to wear it, but at least I know it’ll work for beach time when I’m in Costa Rica next week. Maybe it’ll look good with some high neck shirts too. It’s kind of awkward with where it lands with any other shirt that shows any cleavage at all, and I’m just a B cup. But it’s so pretty; I will make it work!
The vase is so tiny and cute! I agree with others that it could have been in a more summery color like teal, but the red color matches fine with my decor. It’s currently on my desk with a sunflower taken from a bouquet I got this week. Towel is cute and useful; I needed a beach towel. Travel size dry shampoo is always welcome. The taffy is tasty (I got banana flavor). Tried the shave cream and it worked fine; I definitely wouldn’t pay $17 but I appreciate getting it in this box and the fact that it is all natural ingredients. Also I appreciate getting introduced to the brands that designed the vase, necklace, and towel. Well done, PopSugar!

Also want to mention that the local post office delivery works out well for me. I usually get my box several days before the ETA; I guess it just depends on the busy-ness of your local post office. (I live in Albuquerque)

Reply ButtonReply

Sunnychick

I’m still trying to figure out the theme of this box. The beach towel, shaving cream, dry shampoo, taffy and necklace all remind me of summer. And then there’s this random red vase. The vase is cute (although I wish it was another color like a bright blue, aqua, green, hot pink, yellow…basically any other color lol), but it doesn’t remind me of summer at all. I think the vase would have fit in perfectly in last month’s “spring” box. I’ll probably end up gifting it as it doesn’t go with the decor in my house. I really like everything else in the box except for the taffy. Am I the only one who thought that taffy was awful? (I live in South Florida and am used to AMAZING salt water taffy so maybe I’m just a taffy snob?)

LOVED the beach towel and necklace though!

Reply ButtonReply

S

Actually the Taffy was the only thing I liked. I live in Chicago though so I have low standards on taffy. Nothing wowed me in this box. I am curious as to who in their right mind would pay $17 for shaving gel!?

Reply ButtonReply

sarah

Seriously…I will use the shave creme for sure—but I get the cheapest shaving cream I can find! Would NEVER spend $17 on shave creme!

Helen

My box is also idling at my local post office. I should mention it when I do the survey and see if it makes a difference. Perhaps if enough people complain they’ll change the shipping method.
By the way, if anyone is swapping their red vase, please respond to my request or touch base here.

Willa

I always love the variety that PopSugar has – it’s not a big deal but I do find this month to be a little oddly curated – not sure how a red vase and a beach towel fit in a theme together. But I love the red vase, the necklace, the taffy and the dry shampoo – which I love getting in boxes. The shave cream is nice and I will probably gift the beach towel. I love the colors and design, but I’m not much of a beach gal. Once again, PopSugar is my favorite box.

Is anyone else having issues with the fact that PS will ship the box via FedEx then FedEx delivers it to the local post office and you then have to wait two more days before you get the box from the USPS? This happened to my February box and I noticed that the package was not taken care of and the outside of the box was all banged up. When PS sends the surveys I said I did not like that they sent my box this way and my March box came via FedEx to the front door. Now, this month again they are sending it via USPS. I don’t understand what it going on with this. If they can deliver my box down the street to the Post Office then why can’t they bring it to my door. This is so infuriating. Any thoughts?

Sara

I just got my box today and I really like it. I didn’t realize the dry shampoo was cherry scented, I love it and love the scent of the shave cream. The necklace is pretty and I love that they sent silver jewelry, but it’s far too delicate for me. The vase is ehhh I might see if my mom likes it or swap it. I wish it were a true red, it seems more orange-y red to me. I was so excited about the towel, it’s very cute, but pretty thin. I needed beach towels last year and bought a few big thick/plush ones at Kohl’s for under $10. I see the beach theme, minus the vase and really like this box. I think June is my last box I might have to extend my sub.

Reply ButtonReply

Erica

I liked the towel too but was surprised a $40 towel was so thin….

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

The other towels from the brand are in a similar price range, and I wonder if they are as thin as the towel we got, or if PS just made these “exclusive” towels thinner than usual.

Mary

I got my box – $40 for that beach towel? It’s a nice enough beach towel, but something I’d spend $20 max on. All of the Popsugar exclusive items seem to be given ridiculously high values. That said, I do love the vase!

Reply ButtonReply

Claudia

I have to vent! So, I just went thru the whole PS Special edition nightmare and today I got the”your monthly box is on its way” Email. My box left Newburg NY a place about 40 miles due east of me. The box went south too Kearny NJ and now it’s in PA. WHAT ON EARTH?? Does that make one iota of sense? Some months it comes right here and other months it goes around the world in 80 days. Why???

Reply ButtonReply

Zerlyn

Has anyone receive their box? Or I am happen to be in the last delivery batch? My ETA is expected on 5/21.

Reply ButtonReply

Brooke

According to the tracking, mine was just delivered. I won’t see it until I get home from work tonight, but I’m very excited for this box.

Judy

Popsugar has been a hit and miss with me lately. I either like the entire box, or only one item. It’s been more economical for me to only get the boxes I want, even if I have to pay cost plus shipping now that popsugar has been selling out pre-spoilers. So far I’ve only done that with April.

I live in Wisconsin, where you only go to the pool as a child or if you have children of your own. The only beaches we have are lakes and streams. While still fun in the summer, you only want to wear/bring old swimsuits and towels you don’t care about. I don’t plan on taking any vacations or having any kids, so unfortunately the beach towel is lost on me. At least the Turkish towels were versatile enough to be used in other ways: scarf, summer blanket, etc.

As for the vase, cute idea, but wished it was a more neutral color. I don’t think I own anything in red, which is saying something since the university I work for is UW-Madison and the colors are red, red, red. All my gear is grey or black with red lettering. Lol.

I’m also another woman with a larger chest, so the only item I’d use is the shave cream. Love that it’s natural

Not impressed with this month’s box…I’m sure I’ll end up selling it or trading. I loved last month’s and I hope that June’s is more exciting!

Loving this box 🙂 I’m busty too, but necklaces like that look really pretty with higher-necked shirts. I’m excited to try it out!

somanyboxessolittletime

I’m so displeased that they give advanced boxes to bloggers. Would rather be surprised by it landing in my box. When it is this far in advance, there is no use in holding out. Reason enough for me to cancel (my subscription just ended with this month – and I have been getting since Jan 2013).

Kiales

but…. you can just, not read the spoilers/reviews?

Reply ButtonReply

Sheryl

I thought that I cancelled my subscription but I just got a shipping notification. I would be happy to sell to anyone interested. I’m not looking for a profit. Just actual cost plus shipping. [email protected]

Not a fan of this month either. Nothing I absolutely love so I’ve listed the whole thing on the swap site. I am hoping to get one of the summer LE boxes since I missed out on the CFDA one. I’m not ready to give up on PS, but this is 2 months in a row where I haven’t wanted to keep it.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

Honestly I don’t know if I feel like the value is there for me. 40$ for a towel? I saw a necklace just like that on wanello for 6 dollars. Shaving cream and a small container of dry shampoo? I feel like they mark things up so high half the time so you feel like you are getting a better deal

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

I think Liz does a good job of finding out when products are available for less than the stated price. I looked up that company’s beach towels and that is what they go for (they were sold out everywhere I looked except the company’s own web site.)

Of course, similar products from different brands may be available for less money.

I just checked to see if the shave cream and taffy were gluten free. They are!!!! Have not heard from dry shampoo yet. Just for those who are gluten free

I’m glad I didn’t order this one but thanks for letting us know about the Sage and Row shaving subscription. I have been wanting a women’s shaving box!

I don’t love everything in the box, but I would use or gift everything. Kinda bummed I didn’t sign up for this one… that necklace is so my style!

If my daughter doesn’t want the necklace you can have It. I’m way too busty for it. Maybe I’ll list it, I have not swapped yet but I’m approved now.

Swapping is so much fun. We’re growing into a very lovely community.

Jennifer

I am happy to swap/sell the necklace, vase or shave gel if you would like one or all of those items.

Hi
I’m Emanon
Do you still have the Y necklace and red vase? If so I’m interested in buying it.
I Look forward to your response
