Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Mountie

Ten 1 Design Mountie - Value $24.95

Each month you get to select your lifestyle item for the box, and I thought my husband would like this the most - and I was right! It is basically just a side-mount clip to attach your iPad Air, iPad Mini, or iPhone to your Macbook.

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Shampoo

V76 by Vaughn Hydrating Shampoo - 1 oz Value $3

V76 by Vaughn Well Groomed Ultra Light Cream - .23 oz Value $1.25

I really like the scent of this shampoo - I think it works as a unisex hair product. (The ultra light cream is listed as a bonus item on the card - I'll refrain from my foil packet complaints!).

Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Riviera

Riviera Eau de Toilette - 2 ml Value $1.50

Billy Jealousy Triple Crown Three In One Body Wash - 1 oz Value $2.50

Cologne/perfume samples are never that exciting for me in subscription boxes, but I will admit I like this scent. It is a classic and clean scent.

This Billy Jealously product is designed to be used as a body wash, moisturizer and shave cream in one. That's kind of a crazy mix of products! We normally don't get any shaving products since you can indicate whether or not you want them on your Birchbox Man profile, but I guess you can get one if it is also a body wash!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $33. That's not super-high for the $20 cost, but since Birchbox Man lets you pick out the high-value lifestyle item, I'm OK with the value. What do you think of the July Birchbox Man box? Which item did you pick?

I love Birchbox for women (two subs), but wow, our experience with Birchbox Man just stinks.

Hubby didn’t receive his June box (his first). He emailed them, and was told weeks ago if he didn’t hear back from them, assume the replacement box was sent. He didn’t receive a tracking number, or any other information.

The July box is extremely disappointing. An iPhone 6 case (hubby doesn’t own an iPhone 6), cologne sample (doesn’t wear it), and the small sample of body wash. I was excited to receive his sample of Supergoop serum, but you know, we can’t justify spending $40 on two samples.

I’m surprised and feel bad about talking him into the sub. This is exactly the opposite experience I’ve had with the Birchbox woman’s sub. Birchbox Man seems to be phoning it in.

Getting annoyed with Birchbox Man… My husband’s profile says short hair and he has received hair styling products and shampoo 2 months in a row. How much shampoo does one with 1/2 inch long hair need? Doesn’t help that the 3rd product was cologne and the 4th a cheap clip on iPhone case. I’ll give you one more month Birchbox man.

I found this months lifestyle items to be all pretty “meh”. Nothing really excited me, not even the curated box. I ended up going with the Mountie clip as well.

I was excited to get a box that was cologne-free for once though! Two things I can count on in every box up until now: a Billy Jealousy item and English Laundry cologne. Still got a Billy sample, but I’m okay with that.

But as I’ve said for a few months now, I’d like to see BB start diversifying more with their samples and bringing in some new companies. When you can guess 2-3 of the times you’re going to get before your box even arrives, you know redundancy as set in.

I AM SO TIRED OF THE COLOGNE SAMPLES! Dadgumit!

The value of my husband’s box was only around $30. Only 4 items probably because he’s bald, lol. So, I went ahead and canceled.

I cancelled my 16 year old’s sub. He received the same items except his lifestyle item is the journal which he selected. He wanted the samples mostly for camp.

Most disappointing Birchbox Man month yet. We are totally the target demographic for this box, I think. We got the notebook (my partner doesn’t have an Apple anything), a cologne (again?!?), a tiny body wash, a shampoo, and a grooming cream. One salient complaint my partner had was why include a shampoo but not a conditioner of the same brand? “Obviously, they know you’re going to need both.”

I really really really really really really really really really really really really wish Birchbox would offer these gadget options in the women’s boxes.

I subscribed to this for my 23 year old son and after a few months he is just not seeing the value and told me to cancel. Although the products we have received have all been high quality and their customer service stellar, this is just a bit more formal most months than my son’s lifestyle or perhaps he is too young. Without him loving the choice items it’s hard to justify small samples for $20. I’ve been spoiled by Boxycharm (which goes to my 20 year old daughter), Kloverbox and previously Glossybox (canceled due to product overload) …they all deliver big bang for your buck. I think there really is a market out there for the young male sub box, surely I can’t be the only mom wishing to send out a little love? Guess I’ll just have to do my own shopping…darn. 😉 It’s not you Birchbox, it’s us.

I agree. My fiancé and I are in our early 20’s, and while I always love my Birchbox, we cancelled his because the sample choices each month weren’t justifiable for the $20. I personally wish there was a $10 option for just the beard oils, soaps, shampoo, etc. He’d rather have 5 of those samples for $10 than pay $20 for a gadget, flask, or tie he’ll never use.

I would also love a $10 sub for men. We did one month for my husband with Birchbox man. I LOVE my Birchbox and my husband was hoping to get a mens version of what i receive every month. We canceled right away unfortunately. $20 just didn’t justify what he received (or honestly didn’t justify what he wanted out of it). If they came out with a $10 box however, I’d subscribe him again!
