Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Mask - FULL SIZE! Value $12

I was most excited to try this item when the box was released - there were so many comments from readers who love this mask! I tried it out last night in the shower (you have to put it on damp hair, then rinse out). I couldn't find specific time instructions on the bottle, but searching online it looked like 3-5 minutes should do it. My hair definitely felt softer after using it - I don't think I noticed any difference in shine though.

Fekkai Soleil Hair Mist – 1.7 oz Value $6.80

I actually received this in a previous Target Beauty Box as well! I like the formula and the scent, so I'm happy to have more!

target-beauty-box-august-2015-white-strips

Crest 3D Whitestrips 1hr Express - 1 Upper and 1 Lower Strip Value $11.25

I thought this was a small sample at first glance, but the full-size version contains only 4 sets of strips, so this is actually a substantial sample! Hopefully just one set of strips will get me results!

CoverGirl Super Sizer Mascara by Lashblast in Very Black - FULL SIZE! Value $6

This is the best drugstore mascara I've tried in a while. The formula immediately gave me length and volume - no need for extra coats unless you want even more length and volume! I've been wearing it all day without any smudges or flakes either!

target-beauty-box-august-2015-OLAY

Olay Active Botanicals Day Lotion - .6 oz Value $3.60

Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Toner - .6 oz Value $1.80

I'm not a fan of the fragrance in these samples. (I'm really particular about scents in skincare products). Fortunately, they are the smallest samples in the box, so no big loss there!

Verdict: Target Beauty Boxes are always a win for me. This time my favorite discovery is the mascara, but I'll use almost every single item. And the value is about $41 - pretty amazing for a $7 box!

What do you think of the latest Target Beauty Box? What was your favorite product?

Why is it that Target can’t seem to have very many boxes. They sell out before a day is over? Walmart does better than that and theirs is cheaper. Go figure.

I love my box! The Fekkai Pré-Soleil Hair Mist really knocked my socks off. It left my hair silky and smooth. I wonder how I’ve lived this long without it! (Yes, I love it that much!!!)

I know this is a long-shot but I was wondering if anyone had an extra box they would like to sell. Thanks in advance!

I hate that I missed out on this box, will be setting a reminder to check the website September 1st for the fall box 🙂 I loved the back to college one

Connie

Hi just wondering if you know that will be the date to sign up for the target box? The first of September. I missed the summer one. But I really liked the Walmart one. Be well. Smooches

Got my box today (it came earlier but I was on vacation). The value is there but I’m not too excited. The Olay products are made in China, which means I’ll be swapping or gifting them. The mascara was OK, but not particular special on any of us. And I still have to find out where the Crest strips are made.

I am happy to get the hair mask – both my daughters have colored hair and need deep conditioning. And I’m hoping they’ll use the hair mist and that it will help them keep their color. For $7, I’m not complaining.

Interesting, Target has the full size products as being made in the USA, when the samples are clearly marked as made in China.

-weird. The Olay toner and lotion were also surprisingly nice. A great value for $7 plus the coupon I know I will only use too soon.
Totally cut myself off 😛

I accidentally purchased two (resubmitted again when I didn’t get the confirm for the order) but it works out because I love this box (makes up for totally missing the 2 college boxes last time)! I’ve already used everything except the whitening strips (but i will soon). I used the hairmask and in lieu of conditioner and it worked for me, plus the soleil spray is awesome too since it’s always sunny in California 🙂 I love the mascara eventho the wand brush is a little

This was my first Target box and I was so pleased with it! I needed new mascara and always love CoverGirl’s formulas. Since the mascara itself usually runs me close to $7 I figured this was perfect. I’m really happy with everything else in the box so it was a huge win for me!

Hi Liz,

Thanks for the heads up. I love all your postings as well.

Amy

You guy need to try the Olay moisturizer. That stuff is amazing! My skin felt so soft after the second or third time using it. I’m definitely buying it when I run out of the sample!

Lasi

I completely agree with you Liz, this mascara is UNBELIEVABLE, I love it! I have my holy grail mascara but this one is getting on top of that! Even though it doesn’t claim to be waterproof I find it resistant on my watery eyes which I love!

I received my box on Monday. This was my first subscription box and I was quite impress with the offerings. I liked the Clairol Hair Mask. I have fine hair, and it didn’t weight it down or make it feel oily/greasy. I was excited for the mascara, but I’m not a big fan of the wand. The formula is great, I just think wand makes it clumpy. I’ll probably just clean and use a wand from a different bottle. I plan on using the test strips this weekend, as well as the Olay samples.

I am liking this box. I almost didn’t buy it, but I changed my mind – I’ve been wanting the Soleil Mist (but figured I could swap for it) – I really wanted it because I walk a lot in the mid-day sun and have color-treated hair; disagree that it’s a niche product – my hair definitely fades and I was hoping for it from one of the previous Target Boxes. I’ve been using it regularly – does anybody know whether you have to spray it everyday or just every time you wash your hair? I have only been spraying it the first day after washing.

I like the Olay Toner – I was previously using the Arcona Cranberry Toner (sometimes) that came in the Beauty Fix box but wasn’t very happy with it because of its super-strong smell; this Olay one’s much milder. I am also excited to try the Crest strip and I will try the Hair Food – everything but the mascara – I have enough to last the rest of my life. Not hurting for hair masques either, but Toner, White strips and Soleil spray don’t come around as often.

I always love the Target boxes and this one is no exception.
Thanks for always giving the heads up…otherwise I would never know about them!!

ok, when did the new target box go on sale? I haven’t seen any information besides this posted? And its sold out already, I’ll never catch a break.. 🙁

Tamara

Are you on the MSA mailing list? That’s how I heard of it the morning it went on sale, otherwise I’d never have known. I love the email alerts!

It went on sale last week and sold out either the same day or next day.

First time buyer (although I have attempted to get it before, but always been too late, so thank you My Subscription Addiction for the heads-up this time). Not too impressed. I also used the mask in the shower, basically in lieu of conditioner. Not noticing any difference today in my naturally wavy hair. Can’t imagine needing/wanting/using the soleil spray – niche item for sure. Agree about the strong scent of the Olay items. Will try the white strips. For me, barely worth the $7 if that. Would I get another box? Maybe, if I have time to think through the items! Oh, and yes, it arrived without any tracking/warning. Weird.

Marissa

The Soleil didn’t do much for my very wavy hair but it does smell AMAZING. So if you ever need a pick me up spray that on there. 🙂 and I used a little conditioner after the hair mask to try and seal it in a little and my hair turned out great! I hope you enjoyed your first box at least a little though!

Reply ButtonReply

Amalia

I did try the mask again, followed by conditioner, and it did seem like my hair was softer and nicer!

Kimberly

Liz,

Love the reviews! I’m glad you’re starting to do swatches for the makeup, and was wondering if you might consider showing the mascara in the future. Like, mascara on one eye and bare lashes on the other with eyes open or closed so we can see the lengthening/thickening properties of the mascara. That would be really helpful!

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I must admit, I cringe a little just taking pictures of my veiny arm for swatches, so thinking about taking close up shots of my eyes has me feeling a little …not good, but I’ll take it into consideration! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly

lol, tbh I’ve always just noticed the makeup swatches and can’t recall any negative features in the pics you’ve posted, but I think we tend to be our biggest critics and are always hardest on ourselves. You could always crop the image to just feature your eyes, if that helps, but certainly don’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with! I know not all suggestions are implemented, but it’s good to know that they’re all heard. 🙂

Mary

I got my box and like it. I’m always pleased with Target’s boxes. Does anyone know if you can use the hair mask on wet hair? I mean, I know you can, but would it have any benefit at all? Seems a bit of a bother to shampoo, then dry your hair to the point of dampness, only to dump a mask on and have to jump in the shower to rinse it off.

Reply ButtonReply

Donna

I researched how to use hair masks because I didn’t know whether to use it before, after or instead of conditioner. The majority of the item that I read explained that masks work deeply in the hair and should be used on hair right after shampooing and towel drying. Conditioner works on the outer layers of your hair to make your hair smooth, shiny and seal the split ends. The correct order is shampoo, mask then condition to get the best results.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

Donna, thanks for sharing what you found out. I didn’t use a conditioner after the mask, but I will try that next time I use a mask. My hair is color-treated and therefore tends to be dry so I need all the conditioning help I can get!

Marissa

I used mine in the shower after shampooing and it worked amazing. Just squeeze out the excess water and apply!

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

Thanks, Marissa, that’s what I did and my hair turned out super soft, even my teenage son complimented me! 🙂

Marissa

I LOVE that hair mask! Honestly my hair is dry as straw right now and SUPER long (trying to grow it out for locks of love but I need to still have long hair after otherwise I look like a boy :'() But now my hair is to my butt when straight (its naturally curly/wavy) and was in SUCH a need of help for the ends. My hair hasnt been this soft in years and I cant believe a paraben-free, $12 product did that! Thank God I bought a bunch of these! Seriously it was my first time trying it the night by box arrived (with no warning or tracking I might add) and my hair is so much happier! Not a huge fan of the scent but the product makes up for it! THANK YOU LIZ for posting the link when it became available and thank you Target for an amazing deal.

I must say I’m scared to try the white strips though. I use the crest normal strips but my teeth are sensitive as it is. We shall see!

I’m actually happy target doesn’t make a monthly box because they get to spend time adding good products into these boxes without rushing it and sending out boxes that just are not ready. This is a much better plan, plus we get to see what is in it before buying! Win win!

I’m really excited that there was a coupon available for Target (store or online) in the box, and this is a really nice selection for only $7. I’m going to end up donating the Olay products, but I think I will be giving the hair mask and the whitening strips a try! Perhaps those with the Fekkai hair mist I’ll be absolutely shining! I’m on the fence with the mascara, however. The bristles weren’t at all as I expected them to be, and my lashes ended up incredibly clumped together and goopy! After brushing through my half-dried lashes with a clean (regular) brush, I was very impressed by the deep black colour and the lightweight feel, but that process is much more tedious than my everyday look.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

I tried the Crest strips….just be prepared, they make your teeth and gums VERY sensitive for a day or so!

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

Thanks for the heads up. Every time I’ve tried whitestrips they leave me in pain for days. I think I’ll pass them along to my husband. He’s never tried them so he might have a different reaction to them.

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

I didn’t have any trouble with them. The instructions said not to brush or floss beforehand so that may help. I define,y noticed that my teeth have been a little whiter. Still they are a little pricy.

I love everything in the box except I have been scared to try the hair food. I tried Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner when it came out and it made my hair such a dry, tangly mess that took weeks to fix so I have steered clear of Clairol ever since.

AmyM

These Target boxes just keep getting and better, in my opinion. This one seems like one of the most universal they’ve done, since the cosmetic item is black mascara which I imagine nearly everyone uses. I cannot get enough of the scent of the hair mask. I keep flipping open the cap just to sniff it! 🙂
