Darby Smart To DIY For Subscription Box Review November 2015 - project

This month's project is super fancy greeting cards! 'Tis the season!

On the back of the card is a variety of ideas for using wax seals. I like that they give suggestions on where you might take your newfound crafting skill after completing the project. Conveniently, you can buy more supplies at their online shop.

FYI, Darby Smart does not include instructions in their boxes. Instead, they provide a code you can use on their website to look up the instructions. Just a note in case you have a preference, but I guess you could always print out the instructions.

These are the materials that were included for the project. Usually, the things you have to supply yourself are things most people definitely have. This month I had to supply my own oven / baking sheet, scissors, and pliers. I freaked out a little about the pliers because I couldn't find them, and I wasn't sure they would cut metal! I found them, though, and they worked just fine.

Darby Smart To DIY For Subscription Box Review November 2015 - stamps

These are the stamps I made for wax sealing. They turned out great! I photographed them after use, though, and as you can see, some of the red wax pigment stained my "JOY" stamp. I hope it doesn't bleed when I use it with other colors! Protip: Always use a little cooking oil to prime your stamps before use. It keeps the wax from sticking. Spray oil works great!

Darby Smart To DIY For Subscription Box Review November 2015 - cards

The cards look fabulous! So fancy!

The Verdict: This was a great project, and perfectly timed. I love Darby Smart's project selection! I was turned on to wax sealing with the Gramr cards I received in a couple of other subscription boxes, but now I have three stamps that say "Thx." There are other types of cards besides Thank You cards! Now I can seal whatever I want! Very classy!

Oh this is such a great craft box! I’m soooo tempted to resubscribe but must remind myself of the many unused boxes I’ve never found time to use.
One of these days I’ll blast through them all so I can buy more!
