Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - card letter

The info cards come in a sealed envelope. I actually thought this was a nice touch, and kind of made it feel more like opening a gift to myself!

Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - Card 2 Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - Card 1

There were two cards. This one displayed the Hero item of the box - a Star Wars Funko!

Please Note: They had some printing issue, so the t-shirt shipped separately and has yet to arrive. But, from the card, it looks like it features the Doctor Who Police Box, Serenity, the Enterprise, and the Millenium Falcom. All great travel options!

Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - POP and Halo figure

Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Athlon Figure - Value $19.25 on Amazon

I've always been a fan of McFarlane Toys, from the sports toys to the amazing Walking Dead toys and statues, so I was happy to find this in the box. Lot's of articulation on the figure - it's a big win for me! It also comes packaged wit ha Halo 5 Req Pack!

Varmik Funko POP - Value $10.88 on Amazon

Funko POP. Check. Star Wars. Check! As you all know my now, I'm happy whenever I get a new POP for the collection - so I'm adding this Force Awakens POP with the rest! The cards makes it seem as if you could have received 1 of 5 possible Star Wars POPs.

Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - Comic and mail opener

Aliens: Fire and Stone Graphic Novel - Value $14.99

They include a highly-rated graphic novel. From Amazon:

Directly tying in with the Prometheus and Aliens films, this excursion into terror is not to be missed! An unlikely hero tries to save a small group of researchers and miners from the doomed, deep-space Hadley's Hope colony--which is now infested with vicious xenomorphs! Terraforming engineer Derrick Russell takes control during an outbreak of aliens and leads his desperate survivors onto the Onager, a rickety mining vessel. This role is new to Russell, as are the horrors he and his crew will face both in space and on the strange planet they crash on.

Star Trek: Bat'Leth Letter Opener - Value $34.84 on Amazon

Naturally, I was like, "What's in the box?!?!" while taking this picture.

Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - mailopener box

That's when I pulled this out! This is from Think Geek, and it's a Bat'leth letter opener!

It comes with its own stand for display when you're not using it. I've used it to open all of my items for this review, and it works really well - not to mention how amazing it looks! What an item!

Fandoras Box Subscription Box Review January 2016 - star wars and guardians

Hot Wheels Vulture Droid - Value $14.88 on Amazon

This is part of a series of Stars Wars vehicles. This is great for display, since it comes with a clear plastic stand!

Guardians of the Galaxy cards - Value $7.22 on Amazon

The final item I received was a GOTG card deck. According to the card, you could have received this deck of cards or a GOTG blind bag toy - I totally missed out on another little toy for my collection!

Verdict: This was an incredible box, with incredible value from Fandora's Box! The value of the items is up over $100, and that's not including the shirt that shipped late - wow! Of course, my biggest concern would be how the value is affected once they start to scale, but for now - this is a really cool and fun box! I'm already excited for next month, which features a Walking Dead item!

I love that letter opener! I like this box a lot. I appreciate the more valuable items and less of the silly stuff some other boxes contain. I may have to check this one out.

I know! That letter opener looks like it might be in the “Hall of fame” best items ever list. It looks like it might also double as some sort of boomerang/ninja weapon/knock your eye out kind-of-thing. I seriously have to get one.

thanks for a great review!

Unfortunately, no. February is sold out as well. So if you order now, you’ll start with the March box.

What do you mean by starting to scale? Do you think they will cut back? I like their first couple boxes but fear it’ll fall in quality.

Eric

What I meant by that was, once they start getting a lot of customers it gets harder to source a large number of items (we know that from experience). So, like you, I’m worried the quality of the items might dip – right now its a great subscription, and I hope they keep it up!
