Loot Gaming Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - book and pin

The first-ever theme was Legacy! Here's a look at the booklet and the monthly pin. I thought the pin was much cooler than other pins from Loot Crate, this one was made to look like a token/coin. Also, the booklet is called The Game Manual - great branding around games!

Here's a look inside the book. It mostly just highlighted each item and gave a bit of info about the game it's from on the right. I'm sure, as the subscription grows, we'll get more and more Instagram pics from subscribers - but for now, I thought the booklet was nice and simple.

I want to quickly highlight the awesome artwork done on the box itself. When you invert your box, this becomes the scenery!

Nicely tied in with games and beautifully done.

Loot Gaming Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - founders box

They had "Founder's Crate" brand on the spine of the box as well for you collectors out there.

Loot Gaming Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - shirt

Super Mario Shirt - Value $10?

This is exclusive, but also, officially licensed which is important to anyone who wants to avoid mash up shirts. What better way to start your gaming box unboxing than with a Super Mario Bros shirt! I love this shirt, and am wearing it right now - it's one of my favorite shirts I've received in geek boxes to date.

Heroes of the Storm Mystery Mini - Value $8.92 on Amazon

While I don't play this game, I am very familiar with Blizzard and their addicting games - so I'm sure this one is just as addicting/popular.

Here's the character I got. While I'm unfamiliar with the game, I do know that this thing is pretty awesome! This is an intense character!

In the booklet, it mentions that the crate includes Heroes of the Storm DLC as well - but I can't find anything with a DLC code for the life of me, and I don't see anything in Loot Pins, either. Anyone out there have any luck with this?

Update on the DLC: Thanks to Erin in the comments, The DLC was sent via email and a lot of people reporting that it went to their spam - so check there if you're as curious as I am!

Master Chief Scarf - Value $10-15?

The next exclusive item is a Master Cheif hoodie/scarf from Halo.

This one is tough to photograph - but from this picture, you can see the iconic Master Chief helmet.

Liz loves taking photos of me and Buckles, so naturally she had me model this one to get a better idea of what it looks like. Plus, a cute puppy never hurts.

Loot Gaming Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - socks and pin

Skyrim Socks - Value $10?

Next up are a pair of exclusive Skrim socks. I love the Skyrim logo up the side of the sock.

Shadaloo Collectible Pin - Value $5-10?

The final item is a replica of M. Bison's hat emblem from Street Fighter!

Loot Gaming Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - pin

I'm not big on pins, but this one is up there with one of the coolest pins around.

Verdict: I wasn't too excited for this box upon seeing the items on Instagram, but for me, this falls into the category of wait until you have it in your hands because I like it a lot more upon unboxing. I thought they did a good job of pulling items and objects from games into fun items for the box. While it wasn't a home run, it was a good start and I can see this crate getting better and better.

In this article it is said that “Instead of just sending items with a video game logo on them … “ Really?
I hope you can use some dragonshouts when putting on these socks because else its just what they did and that from a game like skyrim with so much potential to take cool items from.

Great review! I’ll probably end up picking this up at some point….I’m trying to be good, but next month’s franchises sound awesome.

The DLC should have come in an email from LootCrate last week. Lots of people were reporting that it went to their spam folders, so that might be worth a look.

Awesome – thanks for that info! I’ll add it to the review, too.
