Birchbox recently teamed up with Benefit and released a new kit – a trio of Benefit’s “beauty besties” and makeup must-haves.
The kit includes sample/travel versions of their Hoola bronzer, Lollitint, and Rollerlash mascara.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box.(Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The kit came with a cute little info card that provided a brief description of each item and their full-size prices.
Here are the items next to a gift card so you can get a better idea of the sizing.
Benefit Lollibalm Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm – .05 oz, sample size value: $9; (full-size: .10 oz and $18)
I’ve tried almost everything Benefit has made but I haven’t tried Lollibalm yet! I actually really like this – I wasn’t sure about the purple hue, either, but I think it’s actually really flattering.
Believe it or not, this sample is half the full-size, so it’s valued at $9. It won’t last too long, I don’t think, but it’s great to toss in your bag or something. Definitely enough to get an idea of how you like it.
Here’s swatches of the Lollibalm – the top is one swatch and the bottom is three. I don’t think it’s very buildable, but it is supposed to be a tint, which I think is accurate. It’s a sheer, but definitely there, color.
And here is how it looks on! I wasn’t sure about the cooler, “candy-orchid” color, but I think I may be obsessed now.
Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder – .14 oz, travel size value: $15 (full-size: .28 oz and $29)
Benefit’s Hoola bronzer is a great product – I personally prefer matte bronzers over shimmery ones, so I really like this product. The miniature box and brush is really cute, too.
Here’s a swatch on my arm. It’s a good color for my skin tone, and also pretty buildable so it’s easy to use.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara- .1 oz, sample size value: $12 (full size .3 oz and $24)
This Rollerlash mascara is a new product from Benefit; it came out last year. I love this mascara. I tried it when it came out and it became my favorite. The brush is curved to help precision and curling. I also like how much definition and length I find I can get from it, too.
FYI – according to the price/weight for the full-size, this sample size is worth $8, but Birchbox sells the sample for $12.
There’s a pic of this on my lashes below.
Here’s a pic of what the brush looks like. I tried to get a photo myself but it was hard to see with the formula on it.
Here’s my makeup – NOTE that this does NOT include the Lollibalm, which is shown on my lips above. I did use the bronzer and mascara in this look, though.
I used the Hoola Bronzer on the hollows of my cheeks, my temples, the sides of my nose, and a little under my jawline.
And here’s a close-up on the mascara! It’s still one of my favorite mascaras, and it curls well, but I don’t think I would go without curling my lashes. That’s just me, but I like curling mine! (I didn’t curl them here, FYI).
Verdict: I’m a fan of this kit! Birchbox says this kit has a $32 value, which is true if you use the price/weight value for the Rollerlash. If you use what that sample size Rollerlash retails for it is a $36 value. I love all the products included and I think this kit is a good way to try these products from Benefit without committing to or shelling out for the full-sizes before knowing you love them.
Have you tried these products from Benefit before? What’s your favorite?
