This month's project is stained glass votive candle holders!  What a great project!  I already loved the look of them just from this picture!

FYI, Darby Smart does not include instructions in their boxes.  Instead, they provide a code you can use on their website to look up the instructions.  Just a note in case you have a preference, but I guess you could always print out the instructions.

These are the materials that were included for the project.  I was impressed that the candle holders were actually glass!  Usually, the things you have to supply yourself are things most people definitely have.  I didn't need to supply anything additional from home this time at all.

I am really pleased with the way my votive holders turned out!  I tried to also show what a lovely glow they shine when lit, too, but it's much more beautiful in person.

Verdict: Darby Smart is one of my favorite subscription boxes!  This month's project was super quick and easy, which I always appreciate.  As usual, I loved the project selection, too.  The end product turned out beautiful, and it's something I will keep and use for a long time!  What more could you ask for?

I tried this on my own a few months ago, but alcohol ink comes off of glass with water… Did they send a varnish or anything to make it stay?

Would it be possible for this review to list the materials included? Or, alternatively, do a zoomed in photo of the bottles of paint? I can’t tell what kind of paint (or ink?) is shown from the photo provided. Also, how long did this project take to complete, start to finish?

Great-looking end result! Votives look wonderful.

It’s alcohol ink, you can find it on amazons or a craft store. It’s one of my favorite types of coloring something. The colors are always vibrant. I use it on resin , glass, polymers. I make jewelry.

Be aware, you are supposed to use a ventilator room or mask, it will stain everything and drys very very fast.

Carol, you sound well versed in the use of alcohol inks. Some friends and I attempted to do this exact project and the inks washed right off with water and smeared horribly with Modge Podge. Any idea how best to cure it and make it stick? Been scouring the internet and coming up empty.

What a lovely idea a DIY sub box and their project is super cute and the price is affordable! Your votive holders turned out nicely. This would be fun to get especially with the $10 off code 🙂
