Bespoke Post always sends out a card with each box to tell you about the theme and often provide recipes, bonus product info, or advice. This card told me more about what makes the knives special and how to use them.
On the back, there's advice on how to make any meal better by buying better ingredients and using better tools. I'm on board with using good ingredients and the right olive oil wherever possible.
Lamson Chinese Vegetable Cleaver - Value $52.50
This vegetable cleaver is great for more than just vegetables. I can see this being a knife I reach for in cutting almost anything. It has a walnut wood handle and an 8" high carbon stainless steel blade. The wooden handle could be a bit smoother in the hand but overall I think the quality is very good. The blade is very sharp and I appreciate that the knife is made in the USA. The blade (and my hands!) were protected for shipping with a peel-off waxy/plastic coating.
Here's the info card that came with the knife. It has a lifetime warranty.
Lamson Ulu Knife - Value $27.30
I'd never used a knife like this before getting this one in the Chop box. To use the knife, you hold onto the handle and rock it back and forth to cut through herbs or veggies. It cut through parsley and dill so nicely and it was fun to use a new tool. This will be my go-to for cutting fresh herbs. I did notice that the wood is splintered on the handle where the brass screws hold everything together.
Verdict: Bespoke Post always has the most thoughtfully curated and high-quality boxes. The value in this box is great with a total retail value of almost $80 for $45. I love to cook and appreciate solid tools. The cleaver and ulu knives are knife types I didn't own before and hadn't used - I love when a box helps me find and try new things I didn't know I needed!
