Each month, The Bam Box will send out collector items according to its theme - August's theme was CRAZY!
They'll include a large info card with every item in the box listed. The Bam Box has a lot of variant items that are randomly inserted into boxes - these are called 1UP items.
Each month also comes with a pin. This month's pin selections were the crazy characters of Jim Carrey. You could have received The Mask, The Cable Guy, or an Ace Ventura pin. I received a 1UP version of The Cable Guy. 1UP versions of the pin are this gold version of a colored pin.
Honestly, I never thought I'd ever receive an item from The Cable Guy in a subscription box!
Exclusive "The Killing Joke" 2 Song EP - Value ??
One of the exclusive items this month was a completely exclusively pressed EP from The Killing Joke.
If you haven't read the graphic novel yet - you need to! It's a classic Batman story - and I liked the movie, too. That suggestion should be prefaced with 'mature audiences only"!
Hannibal Lecter Mask - Value ??
We get a custom made mask from one of the craziest characters of them all - Hannibal Lecter. I was a big fan of the movies, and last year I also caught up on the show - which I really enjoyed.
Naturally, I had to try it on!
This will definitely be useful for scaring Liz in the future.
What's In The Box!?!?! - Value ??
Poor Goop. Everyone remembers this classic scene and Brad Pitt line from the 1995 movie Seven. You never actually see in the box in the movie, though - so The Bam Box went ahead (pun intended) and made their own little box
They even added the small Fragile signs on the side of the box.
The unlucky Gwenneth Paltrow in Barbie form was the answer to Brad Pitt's question.
Harley Print by Jason Oaks - Value ??
The next exclusive item for the box is a Harley Quinn drawing by Jason Oaks. I really like the artistic style of this piece - there was also a 1UP variant for this item, it was a hand sketched variant of this print and was limited to 250 lucky boxes.
Harley Quinn Roadtrip Special - Value $5.99
The final item was this Harley Quinn Roadtrip comic featuring Poison Ivy and Catwoman. I've never been a big Harley Quinn fan, so I only got about half way through before putting it down, just not my cup of tea.
Verdict: This was my least favorite month of The Bam Box since I've subscribed - and I don't think I could've predicted that since I was excited for the theme and its characters/franchises. For me, it felt like it lacked that hero item. That also may be because a lot of the cooler items were 1UP bonus items this month - a second Harley Quinn art print, Hand-drawn and airbrushed cards, and an autographed 8x10 from Suicide Squad's Katana actress Karen Fukuhara. I didn't end up getting any of those, which is the luck of the draw, but it also made my box a little anti-climactic.
What did you think of the August Bam Box? Did you get any of the 1UP items?
