The Bam Box August 2016 - 16

Each month, The Bam Box will send out collector items according to its theme - August's theme was CRAZY!

The Bam Box August 2016 - 15

The Bam Box August 2016 - 14

They'll include a large info card with every item in the box listed. The Bam Box has a lot of variant items that are randomly inserted into boxes - these are called 1UP items.

The Bam Box August 2016 - 3

Each month also comes with a pin. This month's pin selections were the crazy characters of Jim Carrey. You could have received The Mask, The Cable Guy, or an Ace Ventura pin. I received a 1UP version of The Cable Guy. 1UP versions of the pin are this gold version of a colored pin.

Honestly, I never thought I'd ever receive an item from The Cable Guy in a subscription box!

The Bam Box August 2016 - 10

Exclusive "The Killing Joke" 2 Song EP - Value ??

One of the exclusive items this month was a completely exclusively pressed EP from The Killing Joke.

The Bam Box August 2016 - 9

The Bam Box August 2016 - 11

If you haven't read the graphic novel yet - you need to! It's a classic Batman story - and I liked the movie, too. That suggestion should be prefaced with 'mature audiences only"!

The Bam Box August 2016 - 8

Hannibal Lecter Mask - Value ??

We get a custom made mask from one of the craziest characters of them all - Hannibal Lecter. I was a big fan of the movies, and last year I also caught up on the show - which I really enjoyed.

Naturally, I had to try it on!

This will definitely be useful for scaring Liz in the future.

What's In The Box!?!?! - Value ??

Poor Goop. Everyone remembers this classic scene and Brad Pitt line from the 1995 movie Seven. You never actually see in the box in the movie, though - so The Bam Box went ahead (pun intended) and made their own little box

The Bam Box August 2016 - 5

They even added the small Fragile signs on the side of the box.

The Bam Box August 2016 - 6

The Bam Box August 2016 - 7

The unlucky Gwenneth Paltrow in Barbie form was the answer to Brad Pitt's question.

The Bam Box August 2016 - 12

Harley Print by Jason Oaks - Value ??

The next exclusive item for the box is a Harley Quinn drawing by Jason Oaks. I really like the artistic style of this piece - there was also a 1UP variant for this item, it was a hand sketched variant of this print and was limited to 250 lucky boxes.

The Bam Box August 2016 - 13

Harley Quinn Roadtrip Special - Value $5.99

The final item was this Harley Quinn Roadtrip comic featuring Poison Ivy and Catwoman. I've never been a big Harley Quinn fan, so I only got about half way through before putting it down, just not my cup of tea.

Verdict: This was my least favorite month of The Bam Box since I've subscribed - and I don't think I could've predicted that since I was excited for the theme and its characters/franchises. For me, it felt like it lacked that hero item. That also may be because a lot of the cooler items were 1UP bonus items this month - a second Harley Quinn art print, Hand-drawn and airbrushed cards, and an autographed 8x10 from Suicide Squad's Katana actress Karen Fukuhara. I didn't end up getting any of those, which is the luck of the draw, but it also made my box a little anti-climactic.

What did you think of the August Bam Box? Did you get any of the 1UP items?

I was very, very disappointed.

In this video the cheap filler mask wasn’t even displayed as it came, you guys know it is terribly cheap. The head doll from Se7en is just sad… Maybe it was just a one time joke? How is that something that anybody would like to keep? It is even from a random doll, so my baby sister could have made it. Great.

You can see in your faces that you are acting and don’t really dig everything in the box. Just call it ‘crazy’ enough times and maybe it would make it seem it had other purpose other than very cheap filler.

You mentioned before that you choose items you would like for yourself, that you would like to have. Explain to your customers how the doll head or the 1 dollar store mask applies to that.

The ‘1ups’ you mention are actually just a swap (a welcomed item of course, but then you take off the other item’s value). If half your subscribers don’t get the signed photo, then half of us got a Very low value.

The vinyl is the one good thing. After you teased it so much it was hard not to be expecting more from the joker, but it is still a sweet item. The artwork is OK, but signed by artists most of us haven’t even heard of and can barely find online.

All in all if you consider that with the international shipping the cost mounts up to 51€, then this was just a ridiculous waste of money. Is now The Bam Box a 51€ risk? Maybe it will be good, maybe not this month? Not worth it.

The boxes before were amazing, but for those of us who started the subscription 2 months ago it was just OK last month and terribly disappointing this one. Strange will tell, but if this is a preview of how following months will be now that you are making it big, then what made The Bam Box great is just no longer there.

i was fortunate enough to get one of the individual hand painted cards and a singed print so it certainly was good for me …but i certainly see without that it would have been a very lackluster box indeed.

Hi Everybody,
This was my first BamBox/collectors box and truthfully I’m a little bit underwhelmed,
I chose to subscribe this month because of the theme & considering crazies many faces, the warning for me to hide it from my kids, & all the other marketing , I was stoked for what could be in there. I’m fan of lots of cool/geeky/scary/funny/weird/etc. stuff, with a particular soft spot for all things Batman, in saying that..let’s go below.
*** SPOILERS***
When I opened the box, I had a colored Ace Ventura pin and was lucky to get a Blue 1up card, which according to the key got me a special autograph. Im absolutely jazzed about my autograph from Karen Fukuhara, and loved the Killing Joke EP. I also received a numbered Harley Quinn Pinup, which is awesome, but the other stuff, ehh..Lecter Mask, cool if you win the bust, but otherwise it’s just there, then I also got a painted Barbie head in a little box?!?!..uhhhmm ok. Not many people would connect this thing to se7en, if they hadn’t slapped it all over the little brown box, including me & I’ve seen Det. David Mills become Wrath many, many times. If they put as much effort on the head inside as they did to the outside of the box it may have been cooler. I get its all done in a month(ish), but they were sold fast..they had time & likely money to put a little more into a few things. I liked where they were going with this theme, but other than Harley Quinn/Joker, Hannibal Lecter, & John Doe, where’s the crazy at? Katana..badass, but not crazy, Ace Ventura..strange, but not crazy. So much could/should have been in for crazy…Norman Bates, Cletus Cassidy, Tyler Durden, Annie Wilkes..the list goes on, hell even Jim Carey as Fingerling in The Number 23 is crazier than any of the other pins. I’m gonna skip next month & hope for a real groovy October box, If I’m still underwhelmed then it’s bye-bye BamBox.
Sorry for the super long rant.
Thanks, Will in TX.

This was my first box from them. I received a Karen Fukuhara signed 8×10, so that made the box less disappointing for me. The doll head is useless, the mask is ok, and I have no use for the EP, other than displaying it. I think they could have done something better with The Killing Joke. I loved the graphic novel and the movie, but the EP missed the mark for me.

“Poor Goop” lol indeed. I hope someone puts the box with doll head up for swap because I love it.

WILL

***I would be very willing to swap the se7en head.*** What would you be interested in swapping for it? I commented above about a soft spot for all things Batman, but left out, that soft spot shares space with all things Big Lebowski & Evil Dead too. If interested send me info on what you would like to swap and how to make it happen.
Hope to hear back from ya, Will in TX.

Subpar box from them. They’ve generally been excellent, so I will give them a month to rebound. If next month is also sub par, I may rethink my subscription.

Also, tired of getting 1 up pins which are actually worse than the regular color ones.

“Poor Goop.” AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That might be the absolute BEST line/reference in a sub box review I have EVER seen!!!!

I got the 1 UP pin of Jim Carrey as the Mask – and I personally prefer the colored pins to the gold and black ones. I am not a collector of pins, but inadvertently grew a collection because of all these geek boxes. I accidentally got two of the colored Harley prints numbered consecutively, but I agree without the other 1 UPs this box seemed lacking. I think this is my least liked box so far. I feel bad for anyone who didn’t get any 1 UPs, but I feel like I am in that same boat, since without the color on the Mask pin, you can’t tell what the heck its a pin of. I would have loved the Katana autograph or the hand drawn picture of the Enchantress. Pretty much any of the other 1 UPs would have been awesome.

Very weak showing by them. The company is getting too big and spread out with the big ticket items. It’s a shame.

Linda

I’m starting to rethink this box. Without a 1up, and I’m not talking about the pins, is the box still worth it. Especially with the price increase a few months ago, I feel this box doesn’t really meet its price point for me.

And what’s up with the spoilers of all the different Jokers? We get only one joker and mostly Harley Quinn? This box was just so so. Hope strange will be better.

Silence of the Lambs is one if my favorite movies… but it’d definitely make me jump/scream if someone scared me with that mask on! Poor Liz…
