Horror Block August 2016 - 14

Leatherface Shirt - Value $15?

This month's exclusive shirt features Leatherface. It's a big, bold, graphic that definitely does justice to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Horror Block August 2016 - 6

Vampire Light Up Baby Doll Head - Value $10-15?

This is the second baby doll head from Horror Block. We received a shattered looking one in the January box - both are super creepy!

Horror Block August 2016 - 7

This one is extra creepy because it has light up eyes! The batteries are included, you just pull the tab and it's ready to go.

Horror Block August 2016 - 11

Vigo Phone Case - Value $15?

Next is the first phone case from a Nerd Block - and it's one of my favorite characters, Vigo the Carpathian!

Horror Block August 2016 - 12

It's a flexible and soft material and the graphic really pops! It's a great first phone case for Nerd Block!

Horror Block August 2016 - 4

Supernatural Coloring Book - Value $10?

Next up is an exclusive coloring book featuring Supernatural! It comes with a set of 5 colored pencils.

Horror Block August 2016 - 5

Here's a look inside.

Horror Block August 2016 - 8

Pentagram Pendant - Value $5?

The last non-magazine item of the month is a small pentagram pendant. This is also exclusive to the box.

Horror Block August 2016 - 13

Rue Morgue - Value $9.95

As always, you'll receive the issue of Rue Morgue for the month. This month has a tribute to Shirley Jackson!

Verdict: Besides the Ghostbusters case, this month fell way outside of my personal fandoms, so it wasn't a big hit for me. But, all the items were almost immediately regifted to an excited recipient - so I can safely say that this would be a good month if you're into the specific fandoms. I'm excited about receiving more phone cases from Nerd Block - as far as first efforts go, this one was great - we should be receiving some fun cases in future blocks!

What a disappointment as my first Horror Block. I had looked at reviews from the previous months and they were amazing! So I took a gamble, and got this box of trash. A child’s coloring book? Seriously? I didn’t order Nerd Block Jr. I ordered a Horror Block. Not only that, but it took SO LONG to arrive that it was an even bigger disappointment after hyping myself up for such a long time. The shirt is semi-decent, but I don’t understand the skull and crossbones part of the design. Maybe if it was crossed chainsaws or something it would have at least been more fitting. What a shame I didn’t take a gamble one month earlier, but I hadn’t heard of them in time to get the July box.

It was my first too. Blech. I’m giving them one more chance since next month is apparently Stephen King themed. We’ll see!

I was super disappointed to, as this was my first block. The necklace looks like something one would have bought at Spencer’s Gifts as a 12-year-old for $6.00…

I don’t have a phone on their list, so instead got a Ghostbusters screen cloth… Which seems like a ripoff replacement.

Oh well. The shirt is ok.

I also received the screen cloth. I like it. I’m not a fan of these baby heads though. What do I do with it?

I loved this month’s box! I’m a big Supernatural fan and was delighted when I saw the coloring book. The baby head went on the shelf next to the one from last year and it looks great. I’m now collecting my horrorblock shirts for an awesome horror themed t-shirt quilt and this one was a great addition. I loved the phone case but was sent the wrong one- I checked to see that I listed the correct one in my account settings and I did so I just sent them an email and I’ll see what they say- I really want to use that case! This month was another hit for me- this is my favorite sub and I can’t wait to see what they do for October!

That was an expensive shirt considering I listed the whole rest of the box on the swap site…smh…*sigh* and not to be picky but the shirt could have been better :/

I don’t know what the rest of the coloring pages look like but that drawing of Sam and Dean does not do those boys justice!

I was a bit disappointed as well. The Leatherface shirt looks a bit too Beetlejuicey to me. I like the doll head and coloring book, though! My phone didn’t fit any of the cases offered so that was a bust for me too. I may head over to the swaps and list it there.

Love that coloring book. It’s on my Amazon wish list but I don’t think it gets officially released until the end of this month, so that’s awesome!

I am a huge fan of ALL of the included fandoms. Having said that- aside from the coloring book, I was incredibly disappointed in everything in the box. Enough so to send me running the opposite direction. I don’t think I’ll be giving any of the NerdBlock subscriptions my money again.
