The Nina Garcia Quarterly subscription box sends out fashion and beauty items about once a quarter. (Quarterly's shipping schedule isn't always every 3 months.)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator describing the theme for that quarter, and background on every item they selected.

For this box, Nina focused on some of her favorite brands that make eco-friendly, health-conscious, and sustainable products.

Good Cloth Fiesta Clutch - Value $55

This clutch is absolutely stunning. I'm so impressed with the detail work and craftsmanship with this piece.

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-012

More about Frolic:

Made of recycled Huipiles, natural cotton lining, and recycled Corte Liso, this clutch is made with people and the environment in mind. The artisans, all women, are part of a small weaving fair trade cooperative and paid fair wages. The cooperative offers training and educational programs, including those on nutrition since malnourishment is a significant issue faced by the Mayan community. The artisans take any leftover Huipil material (nothing is thrown away) and turn it into accessories, which they sell at weekly local markets. All dyes are non-toxic.

Frolic's objective is to work with cooperative groups, small family businesses and local artisans, providing fair wages and ethical manufacturing and thus improving the economic well-being of the women and their families.

Nina included this to add some color to what often is a muted palette for fall wardrobes. Here it is in hand to give you a better sense of scale:

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-013

This is definitely one of my new favorite pieces!

Johnny Fly Sunglasses - Value $75

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-015

Always good when sunglasses come with a great case!

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-016

Both the frames and the case are made from sustainable wood, too!

These are a classic shape, and I think the mix of tortoise pattern and the bamboo sides is a fun mix of materials.

Synergy Organic Clothing Tissue Infinity Scarf - Retail Value $24 (On Sale for $14.40)

This scarf is definitely as thin as the "Tissue" name implies! It is made from 100% organic cotton and colored with low impact dyes.

The color isn't a shade I normally would pick out, but I'm trying to put together ways to style it. Here it is on with the sunglasses:

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-033

Since it is so thin, you can put it under and jacket for a pop of color without adding any bulk!

Key Necklace by Ariana Ost - Value $80

(I can't find this exact necklace online, but I'm using the value of a similar key necklace.)

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-028

Nina refers to this pendant as a classic, signature piece, and suggests wearing it on its own, or pairing it with shorter, more delicate pieces.

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-030

(All of Ariana's jewelry is handmade and handcrafted in the US, and this piece uses recycled chains.)

I tried pairing it alone with an open blazer:

Time for the beauty items!

W3ll People Expressionist Mascara - Value $22

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-022

I've sampled this mascara before and I think it's a great formula for a natural look. (I've also had success with applying lots of layers for a more dramatic look.)

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-024

And of course, I love that W3LL People uses all organic and natural ingredients!

French Girl Organic Sea Spray - Value $12

Sea sprays feel a little more appropriate in a summer than a fall box, but this one smells so good, I can let that go! This spray added texture and a lovely jasmine scent to my hair - I'm a fan. (And it's made with organic and vegan ingredients!)

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-020

Maya Water Facial Mist - Value $29

This mist is made with Norwegian thermal spa water and Organic White Tea.

quarterly-co-nina-garcia-october-2016-019

My favorite part about this facial mist is how fine the spray is - it gives you hydration and refreshes while keeping it light!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $287. I think that's great for a $100 box, and I love the ingredient and production conscious theme of this box. It's one of my favorite Nina Garcia boxes yet! I'm also happy with the mix of fashion and beauty items - it's a good balance.

Does anyone know when/if she’s doing another box?

So jealous ! And super excited for all who are getting this amazing box of must haves that I have never seen in any other box. That is super bonus. There is nothing worst then seeing the same item in different boxes months apart. So cute Liz. Awwww.

Thank you, Beth! 🙂

First off, Liz you are really getting good at those photos, and showcasing the clutch in your hand gives me excellent size perception, plus it looks darn cute! The items are nicely curated and there doesn’t seem to be anything just thrown in as an afterthought. I can see for the right person having this box with nice items and great value would be a happy surprise several times per year.

Thanks so much!! I really loved this box 🙂

The only thing that really interests me is the spray so I’m glad I passed on this. I’m another one not in favor of infinity scarves as they just do nothing for me.

Liz, sometimes I wonder if you post extra pictures when you don’t have much to say – for whatever reason. The four pics of a sample tube of mascara told me more than the few sentences. I appreciate your honesty, however you express it. 😀

Hm, I never thought about it that way! Typically we may end up taking more pictures of an item if it has layers of packaging (or if the packaging is just gorgeous!) that’s what happened here at least. I’ll keep this in mind for future reviews, though! Thanks! 🙂

Melissa

The scarf and sunglasses look amazing on you, Liz! This seems like a really great box

Maybe this will go on sale, as other Quarterly boxes have. If it does, I’ll bite.

Alex

I liked everything you reviewed in the box, and I don’t like infinity scarves. You look lovely in the scarf and glasses and I love the necklace!

Thank you so much, Alex! 🙂

If anyone gets that teal cotton scarf, I’d love to swap for it. If you look up brush egg, you’ll see my listings.

Would love to swap For the Parisian key necklace if anyone would like to… Thanks! Waiting to hear if box is still available to purchase..Liz was checking…

I just heard back from Quarterly. You have until 10/31 to sign up and get this box as your first box. Hope that helps! 🙂

Cynthia

Hi Liz I signed up last night and it indicated I would get this box but now my page says box 9. I emailed them because this is the box I want. Please let me know if you hear anything about it being sold out. Thanks and love your review & pics.

zz

This box looks amazing. Does anyone know if this is still for sale? Meaning if I subscribe now would I get this?

Liz Cadman

I just heard back from Quarterly:

Yes if you subscribe by 10/31 you can still get the NGQ08 box.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

I believe this would be your first box if you signed up now. I’m not 100% sure though, so I just emailed Quarterly to confirm. I will let you know as soon as I hear back.

Iris

The glasses are cute but is seems like a mix of seasons. I like a theme:)

Karen

Once again I saw the spoilers for this and wasn’t all that excited, but now after reading Liz’s review, I have done a complete 180! This is a great box full of useful items that each have a slight twist to them to make them unique. Two thumbs up!

Liz…if these box companies only knew how many boxes you have sold for them!!

Liz Cadman

Aw, thanks Karen! This box felt so special to me. I think in part because there were a lot of brands that were new-to-me.

Wow a scarf, a black mascara, a random face spray, a key necklace, a clutch, and sunglasses. Is this a giant box of subscription cliches? Lol hard pass.

Steph M.

LOL! Kinda true huh? I’m about 50/50 on this one, like/meh, but way too broke right now for it to matter anyway!

Cheree

Lol!

Sarah

Maybe that’s why I loved it, lol. As soon as the spoilers were released I ordered. 🙂 I’m really excited about it. Looks like her best box yet.

So glad to hear you love it too, Sarah! 🙂 I’m so impressed with the quality of that clutch!!
