This promotion is over for 2016 - but expect a new Black Box on Black Friday in 2017.

The Black Box is a little sampler of what you can get at Bespoke Post - it even came with a little card!

Weekend Wallet

This little one-compartment wallet is from Line of Trade, Bespoke Post's in-house line.

One side is genuine leather, while the other is a wool felt. I can see this being best for a card or two + some dollar bills - really just an essentials-only wallet.

Key Strap

Next is a leather key strap from Ezra Arthur.

This is a tanned leather + brass hardware key chain. This is especially nice if you're looking to loop your keys on your belt loop.

Cotton Pocket Square

The third free item is a pocket square from Mill City Fineries.

This is a 12-inch square pocket square. It's polka dot, but a bit of an opaque, subtle polka dot.

Tea Tree Special Shampoo + Conditioner

You'll get travel size shampoo and condition from Paul Mitchell.

Each bottle is 2.5 ounces. It has a peppermint kind of smell - it's really refreshing.

Habanero Hot Sauce

The last free item in the box is a habanero chili pepper and lime hot sauce. 2 taste testers confirmed that it's very spicy and lacked in flavor - they also noted that the vinegar base gave it an unpleasant smell. Not our favorite.

$10 Coupon Card

Lastly, you'll be receiving a card with a unique coupon code worth $10 off of a purchase over $75. This isn't valid on club shipments but will work in the store for some holiday shopping.

Verdict: This was a well-rounded free bonus box this year. It had food items, hair care, and lifestyle items - a nice mix of Bespoke Post store item.

Question on this: Is a black box automatically sent after a box purchase in November? Or is it applied after choosing a December box?

I think this year’s box is fine for a free box of stuff. The key ring is pretty cool. I am figuring out what to use it for. I personally wish the ring was more of one of those clips so you can clip your keys to it and then you can clip it around a belt or around the handle of a bag. Maybe I will just get a separate clip for it. My husband liked the pocket square and tried it out with some of his jackets. The hot sauce we haven’t tried it yet, but that isn’t our favorite brand and the shampoo he used and likes the smell. He doesn’t used conditioner, but my sister claimed it because she liked the smell.

I personally like that little wallet. I am trying to downsize my bag and that tiny wallet is great for a few cards and some money.

I agree with Lauren, it was very hyped. I always reorder things that I only really buy once a year or gifts in order to get the Black Box, but it’s really nothing spectacular. I figure if I get one nice item that I enjoy, it’s a win. With this box I didn’t really get that one item I’m proud to show off. The slim wallet to me is weird, the felt side makes it look really cheap. I like Ezra Arthur items and the keychain is high quality, not my style but my girlfriend loved it (bonus points?). I hardly use pocket squares, but this is a nice one and would be appropriate for most occasions. The shampoo and conditioner are nice, and the hot sauce is so so…I tried it on eggs and it definitely adds some heat, but that is about it. The black box, to me, is a lot of fun in that it is free and you know you have a chance to get something that might be really spectacular…this year for me, however, was a swing and a miss.

I used up a box credit last year to get this black box, thinking it would be of a similar value as their monthly boxes. I was quite disappointed when it arrived. I’m glad I know better than to get these now.

My first was completely different (got 4 total). It had pine tar soap, cocktail bitters, leather laces, shave cream, brass collar stays, and a fish pen knife. I think they may be sending this new one and a mix of years past. I’m pretty happy with mine!

Anne

That is weird because that is last year’s box. I like the soap and the fish pen knife. So you got this as the freebie 2016?

Lauren

That was the box i got last year. So they are sending last years Black Box …

Are these all going to be the same? I was hoping for stocking stuffers for my husband but all of these items would be a miss for him. (I’ll use the key fob though!)

Eric

In the past, yes, they were all the same. Ours had a label that said ‘Black Box #2’, but I have yet to see a different variation.

Mary

I’ll let you know if I get the elusive #1. Thanks, Eric!

Randi

I LOVE Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Shampoo!!

Lauren

Do you have any of the retail values for these? I know the pocket square is $28, but I’m wondering what the other items retail for hmmm

TARA

I think Bespoke Post constantly knocks it out of the park. This was a FREE box with only a $45 purchase on boxes that are already a great value with superb quality. Mine arrived five days after I ordered it. Loyal subscriber.

They need to quit hyping the black box. It seems like its always random odds and ends. My order from 11.27 still hasn’t been shipped yet. Used to love BP but lately theyre pretty forgettable.
