Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included, and what themes inspired the box.

The themes this month are: fireflies, bonfire, camp, sand, and fireworks.

Now, on to the items!

Ocean Tribe by Turkish-T Kilim Towel – Value $49

This is one of my favorite POPSUGAR items of all time! I love Turkish towels, and this one is different than any of the others in my collection. The pattern is gorgeous, and the fabric is a little thicker than your standard Turkish towel, too! It’s a perfect beach/pool towel!

It’s 100% Turkish Cotton and measures 35 x 63 inches. The reverse side is lovely, too:

This could also work as a throw blanket for indoors or outdoors.

Here it is with me holding it up to give you a better sense of scale:

Bando Sip Sip Tumbler - Value $14

I love Bando! (I buy their agendas and phone cases all the time!) They are such a fun and cute brand, and this tumbler matches their aesthetic perfectly.

It's a double-walled acrylic tumbler with a silicone straw.

It holds 20 ounces and is handwash recommended. (I've put other Bando tumblers in the dishwasher on the top rack and had no issues, though.)

Supergoop Super Power Sunscreen Mousse SPF 50 - Value $19

Another brand I love! (And I'm always happy to see quality sunscreen in subscription boxes.) This mousse formula is new to me, and it is amazing. (For reference, you need about a golf ball sized amount of mousse for each arm.)

It's super easy to blend into your skin, and it is SO lightweight! And the formula is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and oxybenzone.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara - Value $23

!!! This is the waterproof version of my holy grail mascara! It adds volume, length, and you can apply multiple layers without any clumping issues. I normally buy the non-waterproof version, so it's great to have this for the summer.

And it is REALLY waterproof! It's even a little makeup remover proof! You will need a really good makeup remover to get this off, but the good news is you will not have to worry about any smudging, flakes, etc.

One thing I've noticed with both the regular and waterproof formulas is that the first one or two applications take a little more time/coats to get the results I want. After that, the wand seems to be perfectly coated, and the formula goes on perfectly in a few coats. (So if you aren't in love with it after the first try, don't give up!)

Sisters of Los Angeles California Fireplace Matches - Value $10

I love the colors and design of this box!

And these oversized matches (10 inches long) are perfect for lighting grills, bonfires, etc.

Snyder's of Hanover Wholey Cheese Smoked Gouda - Value $3.50

These cheese crackers are gluten free and made with real cheese.

My taste testers agreed they were super airy, crisp, and just generally delicious!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $118. And I think it's my perfect summer box. There are so many brands I love in the July box, and a lot of products I would pay full price for, so the value here is even higher for me!

What do you think of the July POPSUGAR Must Have Box? Does this box feel perfect for summer for you too?

I don’t know why people get so riled up over one of the most inexpensive items in the box. I have lots of candles from subscription boxes so now here on some matches to light them. Are they the most exicting thing ever, no, but useful! I love the towel, and immediately went on eBay and purchased another one. Turkish T stuff just gets softer as you wash it. One of my favorite items ever was a Turkish T throw I received a few years ago in a LE box.

We actually liked the matches. I always give my hubby the food items that come in my boxes to make him less likely to tell me no about getting them LOL. This month I gave him the matches, too. I figured they’d be good to light our fire pit when it cools down. He really liked them. 🙂

typos! hate them! oh well 🙂

My name is Jenifer and I was a box addict.
I was in the habit of thinking: Oh! I can gift this or that…then finally realized I was gifting so much of each box it was not worth it! What about ME..who PAYS for each box??
And now items are so “generalized” you can just wait for the idea to come out in the review and just buy it for yourself.
I live in a small town and trying new things most people simply see in the stores was great. Was. Too many salt sprays, too many things like those matches and sippy cups.
This review for me was the death knell for Popsugar Envy.

I started popsugar with the bf deal and fabfitfun in spring. I can see how the second year would be far less exciting than the first.

Amie

Agree. I’m at the point where if there is something interesting in a box review, I’d rather just buy that one item.

Also, I used to give things I didn’t want from boxes to people if I thought they’d want them… but never as “gifts” for an occasion. I never got that…it seems to impersonal and thoughtless to me. “Oh, this bag sucks and I don’t want it so I’ll wrap it up and give it to my kid’s teacher so she can throw it in a landfill instead of me. But I really enjoy the challenge of finding a personal gift for someone when I’m buying one.

I want a second towel. People want an arm and a leg to swap for one. Add in shipping and I may as well just buy another box!

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

Yep, that’s why I ended up subbing to this box, no one wanted to give up their items on swap. Wish I could get a second box as a one time purchase without having to do a separate subscription since they’re full price.

I have a cup that I got from Walmart that’s super cute and BPA free. I like this new one and would use it but they didn’t indicate if it is BPA free. I emailed the company to ask. I hope I get a reply.

Kathy

I was also concerned about this. On the Nordstrom website there is a sold out tumbler from this brand and the listing shows it as BPA free. I also found a couple of other sites listing the tumblers as BPA free. I think they are BPA free based on my search, but please share the info if the company gets back to you.

Kathy

I also forgot to mention that this very same tumbler is listed on Nordstrom site as BPA free.

I will wait until I find a good deal and definitely buy another one of these boxes!! The “towel” is more like a light throw, so I’m using it that way. The crackers are dangerously good, I already knew I liked the mascara, the matches are cute and will be handy this winter when we start lighting fires again, and the sunscreen is shockingly small, but cool. I hate the pattern on the cup, but I have used it every day since I got it, so it must not be that bad. In fact, it’s on my desk right now. It keeps my water cold and me hydrated, without leaking on my desk. Bottom line: I love this box enough to buy another!

I can only pick this sub box up on sales and coupons so when I saw this box was perfect for my summer lifestyle I was happy to see even a $10 off coupon so I could get this one. I’m disabled so I take water aerobics all summer so this box fits perfectly. I’ll use the towel, sunscreen, and waterproof mascara every day at the pool. I live on strict SS income so I usually have to wait for a bigger disc. Like through GILT CITY but I really wanted use these products at the pool this summer.

tara

this box was good for me vs the last few months. and finally a gluten free snack item !!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

The towel is nice! I washed it and it shrunk and became softer. I can wear as a wrap or bathing suit cover up as well as use it as towel. I also plan on using it as a fun tablecloth. The crackers taste like cheese it crackers only they are gluten free ( reg cheddar flavor… the smoked flavor was awful).
Cup is going to be updated with sticker . That company had so many cute things was disappointing. What had happened to the must have attitude of the company….it’s hard to get excited like in the past. Mascara brand is also gluten free so I’m happy! Sunscreen is useful! Matches will be used, but can’t help thinking how clever it would have been to add a mini s’more making kit or some cute item with fireflies! Cute twinkle lights even? I want to be on their creative team!

The matches go with lighting grills, fire pits, candles. I think they are more than appropriate for a patio/evening beach theme. The mascara is waterproof, for summer water activities. Cute cup for iced tea by the pool, remember no glass? Cheese snack for the wine I’ll put in my cup. Add sunscreen and an awesome towel that’s easier to pack and carry than a thick beach towel and you’re set for summer adventure.
S’mores in a summer box? Get real. Ants when I open it? Melted chocolate/marshmallows from sitting my outside mailbox? Glad to get this box as is. I think they did a great job at the theme,
Just my opinion though. How much do you expect in a box I paid $22. for? Hate on, ladies. I’m happy.

Reply ButtonReply

Amyr

I paid $43 for my box. Not all of us paid $22.

Reply ButtonReply

Patricia Bell

What was the coupon that you were able to pick up this box for $22. The cheapest coupon out now is for $10 off so $29.99
Or is your discount based on a previous sale like the Black Friday sale? Just curious cuz I love me some deals.

Reply ButtonReply

ummmmmm

not everyone paid $20 for the box, so………………..

As I’m unpacking my box today my brother sees the cup and asks where do I get free refills from…I thought it was just him being silly and brushed it off but then later my hubby sees the cup in the sink and asks the same thing. I feel like it’s going to be an ongoing joke to use this cup

Once again, my box is missing items. I cannot get a response from anyone at Popsugar. I have emailed, I have Twittered, I have Facebooked. They just continue to ignore me. They will not even respond to my request to cancel my subscription. I am beyond frustrated.

P

I’m sorry, but matches and cheez-it crackers?? This box gets worse every month.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

Funny, I was happy for both items. My husband loved the crackers, and the matches are perfect for beside the gas range for those (rare) occasions it won’t light or the power is out.

Stormy

Mascara only, this time….

I got my box and absolutely love the Turkish towel- I’m using it as a light throw as we speak. The tumbler is a great size. I feel like the towel is worth the $40 alone- it’s huge and great quality. The rest of the box is added bonus or swap items. The matches are ridiculously long, like 12 inches or so! The box looks cute on the fireplace though. They might be appropriate for a fire pit. Overall I’ve be pleased w my subscription. Hoping for a Black Friday deal since I hadn’t tried Popsugar by last years deal and now am a fan. I love the practicality of the items.

Jeanette

I just got my box in today and even though I was initially excited about getting the box, I like it even more in person. Because of the weather I am glad they chose a salty snack and it was delish. In fact my husband let me have some (lol). But the item that surprised me the most was the Ban.do cup. I guess I was expecting a lighter weight lack of a better word flimsy cup but it is solid. Plus me or my husband could use it. I really like it. I almost wish this box would go on sale because I would gobble more as gifts. And of course I like the towel, but we are going to use it more as a throw for our sofa. I know everyone has different tastes which I respect and appreciate but I felt this box was solid for me. The matches are going into our emergency weather pile since we tend to have a tendency to get tornadoes.

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

These boxes are not worth 40 bucks a month. Maybe half that. No way would matches be 10 bucks, the towel is maybe 7-10 on amazon, the tumbler is a wal mart special, and who needs more mascara and sunscreen? The quality and wow factor just aren’t there. Fabfitfun seems to be the only consistent box in the value department.

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

I have to agree . I’m not so sure it is worth it . I did like the towel although I’m not sure if it’s something I would have bought myself. And everything else was just MEH. And can I just say the crackers were just disgusting!!!

People are tagging the supergoop sunscreen from this box! I’ve seen several other people being tagged with things that I know are from subscription boxes. It’s getting annoying. 😣

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

What does tagging mean, if you don’t mind explaining ☺️

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

This box makes me so happy! (that I don’t subscribe anymore) #SorryNotSorry

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

I like and can use everything except……..the dumb cup. I’ll take a refillable water bottle any time over a flimsy cup.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim M

Had to sign back up after seeing the Turkish towel spoiler! Ive been wanting one and that blue is gorgeous! The only thing I may give away is the cup since I’m getting so many.

Reply ButtonReply

Annette Manwaring

I have to admit the towel is cute. I hope I get the grey

Reply ButtonReply

Judy

Pretty sure there are no variations. Everyone is getting the blue.

Jessica

This is my first box ever and i was really excited about the firefly theme and am bummed theres not going to be any cute fireflies in the box. I had even thought that maybe ban.do had a firefly tumbler that we would receive or a mason jar with feux fireflies. I also thought a smores snack woukd be fun when i think campfires i think smores. Maybe they should have put some marshmellow roasting sticks in the box. I am excited about the giant box of matches. I wont use them as matches but i love the california writen on them and can display it as an art piece. I think the matche are pretty too and i love the blue tips. 10 ppl are suppose to get a free gift in the box a giant blanket. I would love that.

Reply ButtonReply

Deb

If they do a half off, I may go for it!

Reply ButtonReply

ANNA

I’m super disappointed and regretting that I jumped the gun and bought this one after how excited I was about the June box. I was really thrilled about the towel when they revealed that spoiler and had my hooes high for a fantastic box but everything else is lackluster to me. I will probably end up using about half the items but the value definitely isn’t in this box for me.

This month looks like a major improvement over last month, but still I am on the fence about subscribing.
