Let’s take a look at what’s inside!
Each month, you'll receive a recipe card that notes how to prepare a specific dish that is apart of the theme of your box - This month's theme is Grilled Oysters. A few of the ingredients are already in the box, but you'll still need a few others and a trip to the market.
All customers can receive 75% off their first box - what a great deal!
Oyster Shucking Gloves - Value $5.89
I like that BBQ Box sent these latex finger gloves in this month's box; I've seen friends get cut shucking oysters before and it wasn't pretty, so I appreciate their safety first mentality. These gloves are pretty well made and the latex is quite thick, so you surely won't cut yourself with these on. If you already have similar gloves for shucking your oysters, these would be awesome gardening gloves or any general working outside gloves.
Oyster Shucking Knife - Value $1.39
Another essential tool received in this month's box for the recipe, an oyster shucking knife. The knife is really well made, the thick plastic at the base of the knife is very sturdy and feels of good quality. The stainless steel knife, which isn't meant to be sharp is thin enough for getting in between the shells and will surely do a good job. I've always used a butter knife in the past when shucking oysters at home, so this is a win for me in this month's box!
Bookbinder's Horseradish, 9.75 oz. - Value $3.09
Another essential ingredient for oysters, in my opinion, horseradish! It's a great topper and adds a little zing if that's what you're looking for with your oysters. I use horseradish in quite a few dishes around the kitchen, not only oysters, so this is a win for me!
Jack's Old South Hickory Smoked Salt, 4 oz. - Value $4.00? (Buy a 12 oz. pack for $12.00)
This salt looks like pepper at a first glance, but no, it's just smoked salt, which I've never tasted before. Smoked salt is pure sea salt slowly smoked on a wood fire - and oh my, it's quite good! The salt is rich and smoky and I can see myself using this not only for the oyster recipe but on many different kinds of BBQ recipes and meats - another win!
Moe Mountain Hot Sauce, 5 oz. - Value $5.00
I love adding hot sauce to most things, especially oysters but oh wow, this is VERY spicy! If you are sensitive to heat, this is definitely not for you but if you can stand a lot of extra zing, then you should give this a try (but only a little!). The sauce is quite smoky, which I appreciate for oyster topping and most BBQ recipes and this will add a lot of flavor to whatever I'm pairing with. Since this is so hot, I'll be sure to use this one sparingly, good thing the expiration date isn't for awhile!
Verdict: This is my second experience with BBQ Box and I'm quite impressed with all the ingredients they sent for the Oyster recipe and how little I need to complete it. The value received in this month's box was $19.37, which is $13.64 shy of the $24.99 box + $8.02 shipping to PA costs. I am able to use all ingredients throughout my kitchen for plenty of different dishes and I now have two official oyster shucking tools, which I didn't have before!
