BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's December review of the super chewer box!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

January 2018 Barkbox Review
Every BarkBox is themed and the January 2018 theme is Knights of the Hound Table!
Each delivery comes with a card - they typically highlight a few variations of the items you could receive.
It also comes with a bit of fun for you to knight your pup.
Buckles didn't really need to be knighted - he was only worried about gettin' those treats!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner - Value $10
Buckles loves jerky sticks, basically any meat in sticker form. These seem perfect for him in terms of him loving chicken and the size being just right.
v
Here's a little more from the BarkShop:
Made in the USA without wheat, corn, or soy, these all-natural chicken treats are, well, winners.
Look at those eyes. He can't believe BarkBox has sent his ideal treat.
Bacon Flavor Pocket Trainers - Value $8
The second treat is a tiny little bacon square - great for training.
More from the BarkShop:
All natural and made in the USA, tiny bacon treats are perfect for a training reward or light snack.
Small chewy treat? Check. Bacon? Check. Both treats were huge favorites this month.
Grimbold the Dragon - Value $8
The first of two plush toys is a crunchy and squishy dragon.
Grimbold's wings are all crunchy and he has a squeaker in his body - what more does a dog need?
More from the BarkShop:
Classic squeakers in the head and body, plus crinkle in the wings make this toy a cacophony of exciting sounds. Durable ballistic nylon horns can stand up to a fire breathing pup.
With all of the sounds he could make from this dog, Buckles was very interested.
Fur-Haired Maiden + Giggle Stick - Value $12
The second toy has a lot of crinkle, too - plus wave it back and forth to make sounds!
More from BarkBox:
This independant maiden doesn't need a man to have fun. She's got crazy crinkle clothes, fuzzy hair, and a giggle stick that keeps her laughing all the way to Ye Old Dog Park.
Buckles was mildly interested - but I think I had more fun waving it around to make the giggle sound.
Treat Planet Deer Chew - Value $3
Typically, the final item in a BarkBox is a rawhide chew or chew stick. Even though our dog's stomach doesn't agree with these, another dog gets a little gift.
Verdict: Every photo shoot for BarkBox is so cute with Buckles. He loves playing with his toys and "taste testing" his new treats. This month had really good options in both categories for him!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. The February theme has starting shipping recently, so your subscription should start with that theme. You're also not guaranteed to get our exact same package - it'll be catered to your dog.
Keep track of your subscriptions – add BarkBox to your subscription list or wish list!
