Cosmo Box Subscription Review + Coupon – February 2018

Liz Cadman
ByLiz CadmanFeb 13, 2018 | 12 comments

There's a new subscription box from Cosmopolitan - CosmoBox! Each month you'll receive items selected by Cosmopolitan editors.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: CosmoBox by Cosmopolitan

The Cost: $19.99 a box + $6 shipping

The Products: "Curated by the editors of Cosmopolitan magazine, this unique monthly subscription box brings you full-size quality goodies that compliment and empower your multidimensional lifestyle."

Ships to: US

Keep track of your subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wish list!

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included:

Now, on to the items!

Spongelle 12 oz Body Lotion – Retail Value $20

(Scents may vary.)

I've love Spongelle sponges so much - I can't believe I didn't know they made lotions! This papaya scent is fruity and sweet - very fragrant! This was hydrating without being greasy, too.

I did think it was weird for Cosmobox to include a brand two boxes in a row (there was a Spongelle sponge in the January box), but I like this brand, so I'm not complaining.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetines Mini Liquid Lipstick in Riley – Retail Value $14

This is a warm cocoa brown shade with a matte finish. Excellent pigment and staying power, too. Here it is swatched:

Cosmo’s Sexy Sutra Book – Retail Value $19.99

This feels very appropriate in a February box from Cosmo!

We couldn't take any more pictures of the pages without this becoming an NSFW type of review, but if you're familiar with Cosmo magazine, you'll know what to expect! 🙂

Dove Chocolate Cookie Bites – Retail Value $12

These bites are pieces of chocolate chip cookies covered in Dove milk chocolate:

I had some help with taste testing these, and they were a hit. (Very appropriate for a Valentine's Day box, too!)

Dove Signature Chocolate Martini Mix – Retail Value $22

First, props to CosmoBox for including a cocktail mix in a subscription box. It doesn't happen often!

This is a thick mix (think of a melted Dove chocolate bar), and you might need to run the bottle under warm water for 60 seconds to make it easier to pour.

To make the cocktail, 4 ounces Dove chocolate mix, 2 ounces vodka, and 2 ounces milk or half and half plus lots of ice. (For a non-alcoholic version, substitute more milk for the vodka.)

This is a sweet, decadent cocktail - kind of like a dessert in a glass!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $88. I think that's good for a $25.99 box. This seems like an improvement over the January box, and very much in line with what I would expect a subscription box from Cosmopolitan magazine! Plus it's nice to see a new women's lifestyle subscription box that's under $30 a month since POPSUGAR moved to quarterly.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? As of today, 2/13, yes!

Coupon –  Use coupon code COSMOBOX25 to save 25%!

Value Breakdown: At $25.99 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Spongelle: $5.91
  • Liquid Lipstick: $4.13
  • Book: $5.91
  • Cookie Bites: $3.54
  • Cocktail Mix: $6.50

Any spoilers yet for March?! I’m looking forward to the next box! Hoping the curation keeps getting better ☺️

I’m so angry about the box I received! I was told I was getting the January box. I received the February box. There is only one thing I did enjoy…the book! Trashing the rest.

Sad to hear that! I just saw this. I wanted everything but the book. 🙁 I didn’t get the feb box.

Feels like they’re still narrowing down their exact target demographic. Like the others said, much better curation than last month! I’ll keep my eye on this.

Much better curation than that last box. Various and different items that I haven;t seen repeated in other boxes and a bit of a surprise. I think the price is a bit steep though but maybe if I was a bit more wowed at the curation.

I received chocolate covered espresso beans instead of cookie bites.

I’m confused…do we have to do 6 months and pay that much up front to make it a subscription? and if we click the one month option we have to pay indivually each month to keep getting it?

You can do either one month at a time or six months upfront. I took the leap to sub for six months because I could use the coupon for the whole six months’ charge and not just the first month. It’s a risk but they’re an established brand and the value and curation seems good to me.

I’d love to swap for Papaya Yuzu lotion! Click my name!

I honestly like the curation of their first two boxes. These are all things I will use, and because it’s a smaller box I feel less overwhelmed by how many items there are. I used the 25% off coupon and went for the six months. With the coupon you save a little bit and it pays for the shipping. I’ve cut down on other boxes, so this will be my new monthly box for the next few months. We’ll see how it goes.
