The Subscription Box: Macy’s Beauty Box

The Cost: $15 a month + free shipping

Ships to: the 48 contiguous United States. The Macy's Beauty Box cannot be shipped to PO Boxes, APO/FPO/GPO address, Hawaii, Alaska or U.S. Territories at this time.

Check out more beauty subscription boxes in the Women's Subscription Box Directory!

Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

You'll also receive a $5 off coupon, which is good for beauty purchases in-store and online.

And just like Ipsy, with each box you'll receive a new makeup bag:

It's a quality bag for a freebie, fully lined, too:

Now, on to the items!

Tarte Fake Awake Eye Highlight - .1 g Value $10

This sample is pretty tiny - I was surprised to see it is half the size of the full-size version! But, it's a reusable tarte sample, so I'm happy!

This liner is designed to make your eyes look larger by lining the inner rim and corners of your eyes. Tarte also suggests using it as a brow bone highlighter. Personally, I like it only for eyelining purposes because it stays put! That makes it great as a precision tool for tight lining, but not great if you want to blend it out under your browbone.

Dior Lip Glow Sampler Pack - .9 g total Value $8.69*

(Technically this is $8.69 worth of the product, but this is a one-time-only-use product, so for me, the value is lower.)

While I would love a reusable Dior Lip Glow, I can appreciate that we get to sample three different colors.

Starting from the left, here are the colors:

  • 001 Pink - Satin finish, barely visible pink tint.
  • 102 Matte Raspberry - This is the only one of the three that gave me serious color. It also wears down almost like a stain.
  • 010 Holo Pink - This has a gorgeous shimmer finish, and good pigment, too. It would be a beautiful topper over just about any other color. Looks good on bare lips too.

Here they are swatched under the tarte:

(From top to bottom: Tarte, 010 Holo Pink, 102 Matte Raspberry, 001 Pink)

The formulas are moisturizing and felt fab on my lips. I might end up buying one! (Plus the full-size lip balm tube is pretty gorgeous, too.)

Philosophy The Ultimate Miracle Worker Fix - 3 ml Value $13.60

(Good to know for swaps - this item has an inner foil seal.)

Good news, this little tube is completely full! It's designed to help fill in fine lines and visibly firm the eye area skin. I like that it has no discernable scent, and the formula feels rich but absorbs quickly and is gentle. I'm hoping I have enough of this sample to see results, but at the very least I have an indulgent eye cream for a week!

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser - 20 ml Value $3.78

(Good to know for swaps - this item has an inner foil seal.)

This is the second skincare item from IT Cosmetics I've sampled, and I am loving this line! This cleanser turns into a light foam, was super gentle on my skin, removed all makeup, and didn't dry out my skin either. Plus it has a very light (and fab) citrus scent!

Tony Moly I’m Real Rose Mask Sheet - Retail Value $3

I received Tony Moly masks before in an Ipsy glam bag, and I think they are fab. You leave them on for 20-30 minutes, remove, and let any excess product absorb. I was worried the rose scent would be too strong for me (I don't hate all things rose, but I don't love them either), but this scent was pretty subdued. This left my skin feeling super hydrated and soft

Coach Floral Perfume - 2 ml Value $1.96

And each Macy's box includes a perfume sample. This is a sweet, floral scent with notes of pineapple sorbet, rose tea, jasmine sambac, and gardenia.

Verdict: This box has an estimated value of about $41.03 (not counting the makeup bag.) I think that's a good value for a $15 beauty box, but that value feels a bit inflated due to the lip sampler. That being said, I liked everything in this box, and I really appreciate that 3 out of the 6 items are new beauty releases. I'd like to see Macy's keep that trend up!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, right now the site says your first box will be the April box if you sign up today. (2/18)

Coupon –  None available for this subscription.

Value Breakdown: At $15 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Tarte: $3.65
  • Dior Lip: $3.18
  • Philosophy: $4.97
  • IT Cosmetics: $1.38
  • Tony Moly: $1.10
  • Coach Perfume: $.72
  • Makeup Bag - not counted toward value

I don’t find this sub desirable compared to Allure. The samples look smaller and it altogether looks more like a $10 sub

Any spoilers for March out yet?! Why does it seem to take so long for Macy’s to release spoilers each month?!

I’ve read they did the sub game before and just disappeared or stopped doing it without notice, so I always wonder if they will do something Like that again….you never know.

Hope they send out some awesome makeup this month….happy, happy thoughts!!! Oooh or some perfume!!! Yes please a decent sized perfume would be fablous!!! The coach sample from February is just amazing, and I think I am going to buy the full sized version. It’s just sad that perfume seems to be sooooo expensive darn it!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day 🙂 looking forward to a good all around box month for everyone!!!

Omg so that lip sample is considered one of your 5 items? That’s not even a small sample and they state they you get 5 DELUXE size samples. Craziness, to me I see that as a foil sample…The bag is nice but stop with the words! ! !

Agree. I got it already for free from buying items online at sephora, so getting it like this in a box (even though it’s a darn good product) is not so fun. Wish they would have made a deluxe sample and just sent one of those, because those bubble thingies are not so easy to resuse or store to try and stretch it a few times.

Thinking about giving this sub a try. I’m 43.?I subscribe to Ipsy and Allure. I also purchase the Target boxes I want. I don’t want to give up my Ipsy. So it would have to be Allure that goes… Thoughts?

I dropped Allure for Macy’s, I got a $10 coupon for any Beauty product in their store in the Match 2018 Macy’s Beauty Box box plus some nice things. Allure’s box I didn’t care for so dropped it after their March box.

Ann

I would def choose Allure.

Between Allure and Macy’s it would have to be Allure, in my honest opinion. The value is definitely there and bigger sized products. If Macy’s was $10 I would give it a go – just like Ipsy – which I love and subscribe to.

I love this sub! I thought the IT cleanser worked wonderfully.

I really look at this as a $10. sub because I use that $5 coupon nearly every month. The shipping for beauty is always free and I can find something I want for $5 or under or use it towards something more expensive.

One of my favorite boxes. Loved everything in it. Totally thinking about dropping Sephora play and trying another box. Love the $5 off.

I’ve bought many tubes of the Dior lipglow and while it is pricey I adore the product! I’ve tried the pink (bought 3x), the berry one and currently own the matte raspberry! As a nursing student when I’m in the hospital my lips get so chapped this really helps them while adding a bit of color (so I don’t look so dead from being a nursing student ha)

FYI – Caroline Hirons (UK skincare expert & blogger) just wrote a negative review of that IT cleanser. She said it didn’t remove her makeup very well & burned her eyes. She also didn’t find it hydrating.

I agree with Liz. I really like the cleanser. I find it leaves my skin feeling clean, soft, and does not dry it out. I am very impressed with this It Cosmetics product.

I got that same Dior lipglow sample card as a free sample with a sephora order. The colors were the same except the holo in my sample was holo purple, not pink. It was really great! I’m thinking of ordering a full size.

Drea

I got one from Sephora as well. I have also got multiple uses out of each color, so it is not a 1 time use product. I will be ordering the holo one soon. Absolutely beautiful and they feel great on.

I love my Macy’s Sub. Ive been with it since the start and have yet to be disappointed. Not one of these samples will go to waste. Love it!!

I just signed up. Apparently my first box will be April? Oh well, I assume they won’t charge until then. It was an impulse buy, as I haven’t been thrilled with ipsy and boxycharm lately and as we all know that means I “deserve”to get a new sub lol.

Luna

Also, I know two months feels like a long time, so if you wanted to you can easily cancel your subscription if you change your mind before you get your first box. There’s a cancellation link in your account. I did that in late December after having signed up a week earlier, then had cancellation remorse, so I signed back up a week after that. 😀

Julie

Thanks Luna. I do get those all the time: buyers remorse AND cancellation remorse!

Luna

I had to wait two months for my sub to go into effect too; I signed up in December, but February was my first box. Also, I didn’t get charged until shortly before it shipped. 🙂

Sorry I spoke too soon before I saw a reply!!! Have a nice sunday! 🤗🙈💙💟💙

Lin

Liz, do you mean the tart sample is “reusable” in the sense that its not a foil packet, or is it somehow reloadable..im confused?

Reply ButtonReply

Reyna

Hi, I think she means from the stand point that you can use it again, multiple uses sample, unlike the dior lippies that are a one time use. Not answering for Liz, just saying I THINK that’s what she means, or what I think it meant! Lol! 😘🤗🙈✌💙💟💙

Liz Cadman

Oh sorry for that confusing wording! I meant it isn’t a one-time-use sample (like the Dior lip). Hope that helps clarify!

Lin

Thanks

Daphne

This was the best lipstick I have every used. I’m definitely buying the full size. Gorgeous!!! Love this box

Liz Cadman

Glad to hear you loved the lipstick, too!

Daphne

Hi. When I click the link to buy the lipstick on your post it takes me to the Sephora site??? Why would it not link to Macy’s???

Not sure why that is happening??

Nancyisshopping

Thanks for the review!

I am not happy about the second lip sample on a card but I was able to swap it quickly so it must have some appeal … just not to me.

In general I have been enjoying this subscription!
