Parabo Box has a really excellent unboxing presentation!
The sturdy black box has a magnetic flap, and as you can see, everything inside is wrapped neatly in matching black tissue paper.
Under the paper is the booklet with more info about all of the items in the box this month, and under that first layer of foam:
You'll find all of the items securely packaged inside of laser-cut foam! Excellent packaging is critical for home decor boxes, and Parabo Press really spares no expense with their subscription. I love it and it feels super special to open each one.

Parabo Box February 2018 Review
This is the third box from Parabo Box; after their second shipment in December 2017, they changed from a monthly to every-other-month box. I really loved the first box we received so I couldn't wait to see what was in store this time!
Intro Booklet
It looks like the theme this month is "Shine". This intro booklet is one Parabo's accordion zines, outlining all the items in the box:
This month, Parabo is featuring two different artists in their box! I'm a bit of an art nerd (Papirmass is one of my absolute favorite subscriptions) so I was thrilled to see that this box wouldn't be filled with just my own photos. As much as I love my kid, I can't have a thousand photos of him hanging up everywhere. 😉
Looks like we also have some minimal decor included too!
These accordion zines are available from Parabo Press to print and customize with your own photos, too. I feel like they are great for telling a short story, like how they use it for their intro booklet! Perfect for documenting a party or a memorable night out with friends, when you don't have enough to fill a whole big photo book.
Custom Photo in 7" Gold Magnetic Frame – Retail Value $39
Our personalized hero item this month is a square print inside of a magnetic frame! Parabo Press sells these magnetic frames with photos for $39; I am super impressed that with the first item in the box, we've already got a value $10 more than what we paid for the box itself. The ones they sell are unpainted, so we also got something a bit more unique than what they normally offer!
I selected my photo this month, an Instagram snapshot of my almost-three-year-old during his first real snow adventure. I love how vibrant the colors turned out!
These frames are really unique; they are designed to make it as easy as possible for you to change prints in and out. This is super awesome if you order a set of 25 4" square prints (available for free, just pay shipping from Parabo!) since you'll basically have endless options for changing up your walls.
The little hole in the back makes it easier to pull the backing off. The magnets are pretty strong!
Tucked inside was also this tiny matchbook-like envelope:
Screws! There is nothing I love more than NOT having to look for hanging hardware, so this is a great little touch to make sure you can actually enjoy your new art.
These are pretty basic screws with plastic anchors that should work well in standard drywall or plaster walls. I *do* wish Parabo had included some hanging instructions though because I was initially totally confused about why there are two screws and two slots for hanging. Since one slot is horizontal and one is vertical, it seemed like you're supposed to use both, but it wouldn't physically be possible to hang it that way as far as I can tell.
Set of 6 Art Prints, 4" square each
I love getting art in the mail, so I was pretty excited to open these up! These are designed to fit right into your magnetic frame if you want to switch things up. They'd also be so easy to tack up on your walls with washi tape, and would even make beautiful notecards if you're willing to part with them.
The first three black and white prints are from New Zealand artist Roseanne Kenny. I love the simplicity of these, particularly the half circle print.
You can find more of her work on Etsy, where she sells downloadable printable artwork.
The next three are from English artist Dan Hobday. These ones are more colorful; I love that Parabo included two different art options to suit multiple home decor styles!
I particularly love the circular horizon painting and might use my magnetic frame to add it to the gallery wall in my office at home.
The abstract pieces are great too; love the pinks and greens! You can find more of Dan's work on Etsy as downloadable printables as well.
Cement Bud Vase
This is a petite little thing at just 4" tall. It's made of concrete with a handpainted gold accent.
The bottom is simply branded; I love that this is out of the way so it doesn't affect the overall design or aesthetic.
The gold paint really shines! It also matches the frame perfectly.
I'm not the kind of person where everything has to match exactly, but if you're planning on using the photo and these accent pieces together for a tabletop display, they're basically guaranteed to look amazing.
Concrete Candle
This coordinating item is a little shorter at about 3" tall. It's unscented and has a matching gold stripe at the bottom, too.
They suggest that you can reuse this as a tealight holder when the candle is gone, and it's pretty much the perfect size for that. I love how cute these two look together and can't wait to display them!
Verdict
My second Parabo Box was just as lovely as the first. I'm impressed that they were able to deliver something that feels so unique compared to the first box, too! I wondered how they'd be able to keep things "fresh" with each box since you're guaranteed to get a custom photo item each month, but so far I feel like they've been doing a great job at curating items and photo gifts around a theme. I also really appreciate the aesthetic of this box, which leans more modern and minimal.
This subscription so far is a good value, too. The magnetic frame typically retails for $39 unpainted, so we got something special and unique that is worth more than the price of the box– without even adding in the concrete accessories or the art prints. I definitely feel like it's more than worth the price tag.
As I said with the last box: I also think this box also has the potential to be an amazing gift for grandparents, new parents, or as a housewarming present. The unboxing is lovely and the personalized items really add to the experience even more.
