First Impressions: NewBeauty TestTube Subscription Spring 2024 Review

NewBeauty TestTube is a quarterly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send a box full of full-sized beauty samples with a copy of the NewBeauty Magazine and a digital subscription to NewBeauty Magazine.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Upon opening this box, I was stunned by how many full-sized items awaited me. New brands and products had me totally gagged; I couldn't wait to explore this quarter's contents.

You can scan the QR code on this card, and it will take you to the digital booklet, which goes into depth about each product; it lists key ingredients, how to use, and a little blurb about why each product is a must-have for this season. I am so impressed with this handy feature; I read every word, and it got me really hyped about each product. You will also find discount codes for each brand in the digital booklet.

The products

I think it is really cool that NewBeauty TestTube includes a magazine with its subscription. This magazine is thick with articles that I am actually interested in. It has been an eternity since I found myself leafing through a mag, and it felt really good to get back into it.

IMAGE Skincare BIOME+ Dew Bright Serum - Retail Value $69

I gravitated towards this product first, and from the information I read on this product in the digital booklet, I knew we would be getting along swimmingly. This oil-serum hybrid feels glorious on my dehydrated skin. I could even forego moisturizer with this in my regimen (I could, but I would never!). Fermented squalene, niacinamide, adaptogenic extracts, and hyaluronic acid give the skin a dewy, radiant appearance while hydrating the skin and evening skin tone. After a few days of using this day and night, I've noticed such a difference in the moisture in my skin.

Saltair Island Orchid Skin Invigorating Serum Body Wash - Retail Value $12

I just recently noticed ads thrown my way for this brand, because I am always on the search for the next best thing in natural deodorant. I ended up ordering a few along with a body spray and lotion, so I was ecstatic to try another product from this new and exciting company. The packaging is so aesthetically pleasing, and the product inside is just as nice. This body wash has a thin consistency, but it was quick to suds up. I used three pumps for my shower, and I smelled like a beautiful orchid as a result. In fact, my bathroom smelled like a beautiful orchid for a few hours after my shower.

Davines OI All in One Milk - Retail Value $40

Davines is a brand I recognize from old-school Birch Box, so I've retained a fondness for them. OI Milk is a miracle leave-in product that leaves your hair silky and frizz-free. I was impressed by how weightless this felt on my fine hair while softening my strands and keeping any knots or tangles at bay. Before investing in this pricy product, I will warn you, that the fragrance is powerful; the good news is that you only need one or two sprays to cover your strands, so the smell doesn't linger too long.

KIBON Beauty Radiance Mask or Revitalizing Mask - Retail Value $55

Oh how refreshing, a fragrance-free sheet mask! I was so relieved that I slapped one of these on almost immediately while unboxing. I've needed a revitalizing, illuminating treatment, and wearing this for 15 minutes truly recovered my complexion from months of sad, dryness. Wow! I have been noticing the effects for days. LipoButy™ technology helps to reduce hyperpigmentation and texture, while sodium hyaluronate and aloe vera plump, repair, and hydrate. The mask felt really great, and it didn't slip and slide around my face at all.

Masktini Woke Bae Whenever Moisture Spritz - Retail Value $65

This has to be the easiest step in anyone's skincare routine. A simple spritz all over the face, and you're on your way to a more hydrated base and plumper-looking skin. There are a few ingredients in here that I was unfamiliar with including Bresderm (a unique algae extract) and aquacell (a natural complex comprised of watermelon rind extract), which are responsible for all of those moisturizing and plumping benefits. I am excited to continue using this product to see if my tired, dry skin improves.

PRAI Beauty Ageless Throat & Decolletage Crème - Retail Value $35

I really like to think that I am too young to worry about an aging neck and decolletage, but I know deep down that prevention is key. I always drench my neck with my normal skincare regimen but having a specific product to work its magic will be a nice treat. This cream is thick (with a strong fragrance), and it soaks into the skin leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.

MAKE Beauty Continuum Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Interstellar - Retail Value $23

I do a little happy dance every time I receive an eyeliner that is not black. This shimmering silver glides on so smoothly over my lids. It makes a pretty base to layer over, but I kind of just liked it by itself, too. Its formula is easy to smudge during application, but after that, it doesn't budge.

On the bottom of this retractable pencil is a sharpener and a brush to create a smudged look.

LALICIOUS Velour Body Melt - Retail Value $39

I don't mind smelling like a snack, so this luscious body melt in Sugar Coconut is a great fit for me. I love using this all over after a shower for deep hydration. Since it is a gel-to-oil consistency, I try to give it time to sink in before dressing. It is also really nice to use as a hand and cuticle treatment. I like to slather this on my hands, and put on a pair of latex gloves; after an hour my skin feels intensely hydrated and my cuticles look brand new.

Poppy & Pout Lip Balm - Retail Value $9.95

One can never have too many lip balms. This little guy packed a punch in the moisturizing department. It is an emollient balm that uses coconut oil, beeswax, sunflower oil, and essential oils to create a pleasant and supple lip situation. I received the Pomegranate Peach flavor, and it is a fruity dream.

Dionis Goat Milk Skincare Goat Milk Whipped Body Scrub - Retail Value $15

Dionis makes a killer body scrub. The grit is perfect; there is nothing big or too scratchy and it doesn't feel like I am using liquid sandpaper, either. Another amazing trait of this scrub is that it doesn't leave that oily residue in the shower. It is great for sloughing off dead, dry skin and treating any areas that need exfoliation and a touch of hydration. The soft fragrance is also a delight.

Image Skincare Prevention Plus Daily Matte Moisturizer - Estimated Value $1.20

NewBeauty TestTube included a deluxe sample of SPF. I love having little samples to keep with me on the go, so this will find a home in my bag. This sunscreen has a zinc oxide base, which is my favorite. It feels very comfortable on the skin and leaves you with a fabulous matte finish.

The Verdict

NewBeauty TestTube was such a HIT for me! I love products, but I am the type of person who does a lot of research before I put something on my skin (and I am picky!). Well, everything worked for me. Every single thing! I am shook. I am especially impressed with the hydrating serum, whipped body scrub, sheet masks, and hair multitasker, but I will be using everything from this box until I am out. This box has a retail value of $375.90, which is a phenomenal value for its cost of $59.

I haven’t signed on for a test tube in about a year because they just weren’t products I was interested in until this box and I can’t wait for it to get here! The eyeliner and lip balm were the only put offs for me,I am excited for all the other products, especially the face serum and body products. but now that I know the eyeliner isn’t black(I’m so with you being sick of black liners in SUB boxes so often🙄)& the lip balm is actually flavored of some kind I can’t wait to try those as well!

So many of these products sound like they’re right up my alley. I never knew neck cream was a thing (I must be too young – ha!), but now after 2 babies, I *must* have it.

I am still in denial about being in my mid-30s. Part of me loves the subtle lines while another part is layering on the anti-aging neck cream, lol.
