Taste Trunk Gourmet Food Subscription Review - July 2013

A few weeks ago I posted about a new subscription box: The Taste Trunk. The Taste Trunk offers four different box options each month: Gourmet, Health, Sweet, and BBQ. I had a tough time deciding which boxes to sign up for, but I eventually picked Health and Gourmet. Taste Trunk then reached out to me to send me the Sweet and BBQ boxes to review. (I get all four boxes this month - amazing!) I'll be reviewing all the boxes separately. This review is of the Gourmet Taste Trunk.

Each box comes with lots of cards - some are recipes featuring the items in the box, and some provide more information on some of the products featured in the Taste Trunk.

Susan's Gourmet Mango Salsa - Value $4.25

Artichoke Bruschetta - Value $4

I love that this salsa is all natural and the ingredient list is short. Also, we already completely devoured this Artichoke Bruschetta. Instead of spreading it on toasted bread, we just used it as a dip. It was so delicious my boyfriend assumed it had a cheese in it - but no! It's dairy free! I found this on Amazon, and I think we'll be stocking up!

Community Spice Company Prima Vera Spice Rub - Value $5

Miners Mix OMGarlic Cheese Bread Spread - Value $5

This spice rub is made from all natural ingredients: black pepper, organic sea salt, garlic, basil, rosemary, onion,
tomato powder, paprika, thyme, parsley, clove, fennel, corn oil. The recommend using it for everything from roasts to pasta sauces!

Gilroy Garlic Pasta Stir Fry Mix - Value $6.50

Imperial Organic Vanilla Rooibus Chai Tea - Value $5

This pasta stir fry set is so cute with the tiny bottle of olive oil! (It also comes with a mix of natural seasonings). I avoid gluten in my diet (fortunately Trader Joe's has an excellent brown rice pasta), but this stir-fry is packaged so well I can't wait to gift it!

Oren's Kitchen Coconut Chili Macadamias - Value $4

Mexico Lindo Hot Sauce - Value $8

Again I loved how short the ingredient list was on each of these items and I also liked that I could recognize every item on the list! I'm very impressed with the curation of items in this gourmet mix! FYI - these Coconut Chili Macadamias are delicious but VERY spicy. It would not be a good idea to open the bag and just pour some into your mouth!

Verdict: I am SO impressed with the Taste Trunk! This box had amazing presentation - it truly felt like you were unwrapping a gift! I also was pleasantly surprised to see that most items in this box were gluten and dairy free. I also am very happy with the value of this box - I paid $29 and received over $40 worth of top-quality gourmet food items. And everything we've sampled so far has been delicious. So, in summary I'm a fan 🙂 Have you signed up for the Taste Trunk yet? Which box (or boxes) did you sign up for?

Oh darn are they really going to charge shipping now? That’s too bad I was just about to order it, but I’m going to stick with company’s that offer free shipping for now. Maybe they’ll have a coupon code at some point for free shipping, until then…

I signed up for the Sweet Taste Trunk right after reading about it and got it a week or 2 ago. I agree, the presentation was amazing, and it had a lot of great items. That same week I received the Orange Glad box of sweets so I had a bit of sugar overload going on.

Oo – do you recommend Orange Glad? It’s on my list of boxes to try!

I enjoyed Orange Glad! It seemed slightly less polished than Taste Trunk, but it was well put together, the packaging was very professional looking and the items included were really great.

Sarah

It looks like the box had a great mix of high end gourmet items. Very summery and yummy looking.
