POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

I wasn't expecting my POPSUGAR Must Have October box to show up until Saturday, so finding it on my doorstep this morning was an awesome surprise! (I think I look forward to POPSUGAR Must Have boxes the most each month).

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

The Box: POPSUGAR Must Have

The Cost: $35 a month (FYI - This goes up to $39.95 a month in November).

The Products: “Must Have” items for women selected by POPSUGAR editors. (Fitness, Home, Beauty, Food, and more)

Check out all of my POPSUGAR Must Have reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

Make sure to add POPSUGAR Must Have to your subscription box list or wishlist!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

The Can't Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld - Value $27.99

I love it when POPSUGAR includes newly released books - I saw this book on Jessica's instagram and wanted to check it out - now I own it!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

I'm not an expert in the kitchen - I need all my recipes to come with lots of pictures and include every detail of every step - so this book is perfect for me. I looked through the recipes and I already picked out a few I can't wait to try!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

NYX Cosmetics Smokey Shadow Palette - Value $7

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Black Liner - Value $4.50

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

Jane Tran Bobby Pins - Value $12

Julep Nail Polish Set in Freedom Polymer Top Coat and Coco Nail Laquer - Value $28

I love the metallic colors of the Jane Tran Bobby Pins, but I'm more of a hair clip girl, so I'll be passing these along to a friend, along with the Julep nail polish (I think I already have the Coco shade, and I love the Polymer top coat, but I'm all stocked up!)

FYI - If you haven't signed up for the Julep Maven subscription yet, use coupon code FREEBOX to get your first month free!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

The Wet Brush - Value $14

The Crispery Halloween CrispyCake - Value $3.95

The Wet Brush is new to me - but from what I've read it has a cult following for being the best brush to use on wet hair. They also made a donation toward the fight against breast cancer for every brush included in this month's box - love it!

I also love that they included a Halloween treat this month - my husband just tried it and says it's amazing!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet - Value $45

Another item included for Breast Cancer Awareness Month - 100% of proceeds of sales of this bracelet benefit Breast Cancer Connections. I tried this bracelet on and never want to take it off - it's one of those bracelets that is so delicate you forget you are wearing it!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review - October 2013

This month's POPSUGAR Must Have box also included a gift card to Stitch Fix - they will wave your sign up fee and give you $20 credit toward your first fix. Sadly, this is only for new subscribers so I won't be able to sign up! (I highly recommend Stitch Fix though!)

UPDATE - I misread this card - you can use it even if you have an existing account!

Verdict: I think October was a great month for POPSUGAR Must Have - I probably would have liked it even more if I wasn't already a Julep Maven and Stitch Fix subscriber! My favorite items this month so far are the cookbook and the bracelet, and I can't wait to try the wet brush. What did you think of this box this month?

Has anyone run into a delay with the ship date for their Stitch Fix box? When I entered my profile the earliest ship date I could pick was mid-February 2014! I definitely don’t want to wait that long for a box and am curious if other have experienced that.

I won’t be using the stitchfix. Let me know if you want the code.

I know I could definitely use the code if you haven’t already given it to someone. Thanks

This was my first popsugar must have box and I wasn’t even supposed to get an October box! I was pleasantly surprised! This box was amazing!! The cookbook alone was worth it to me. My husband now wants me to cook every single recipe! The gorjana bracelet was super cute too. A bit disappointed that I received a brown eyeliner, but maybe it’s a good thing because I ALWAYS use black, so maybe I can venture out and try using brown. The rice crispy treat is so squishy and looks so yummy! My husband called dibs on it, it looks dangerously decadent! All in all a wonderful box!! I am now excitedly awaiting my November box!!

So, for stitch fix they will waive the initial $20 styling fee AND give $20 credit for the 1st fix? I thought it was just $20 total and they charged us the styling fee. Can someone clarify, as I threw out that portion of the card:(. Thank you!

Elaine

The styling fee is $20, which is “waived” because you have the $20 card. If you buy something from what they send you, they’ll take $20 off the clothing purchases.

Is stitch fix really that great?? I used my code but haven’t received my first shipment yet. I am worried the items they will send me will be so-so and super-highly priced.

Here’s my StitchFix code since I’m not going to use it:

Love the Jane Tran pins and wet brush!

Thanks so much Kristi! I can totally use the Stitch Fix credit!!

I absolutely LOVE the brush. It goes right through my long, usually tangled, wet hair without catching. The only thing that bothers me is the smell. It has a very strong rubbery scent that makes it necessary for me to wash my hands after using it.

I love this box, it’s my first box. I’m in love with the cookbook, especially since I just started to cook. I actually bought the ingredients for the Egg noodles and cheese recipe, plan on making it in the near future, ( before the sour cream expires).
I plan on trying out the liquid liner as well. I have no use for the palette or the nail polish, so i’m gifting those. as well as the rice krispie bar. 🙂

I have a stichfix code if anyone wants it!!..being a College Student I can’t afford stichfix!

Just to let you know..they sell this brush at Claire’s Boutique in the mall! It’s very cheap (my 8 year old daughter has one). They also have them at Wal-Mart! Hope this helps 😉

River

You can! They have them EVERYWHERE now! My daughter got her’s at Claire’s Boutique in the mall. But then I saw the same brand at Wal-Mart the other day for under $4 !

I love books of any kind…newly released is awesome with me. I love this box…except for the beautiful bracelet is too small…what a bummer!

Loved this box!! Last month was pretty blah for me, although I do have several teacher gifts stocked up and ready to go for the holidays. But this box was definitely one of my favs! I am a Julep Maven already, but the polish was a new color for me. (Although I JUST ordered the top coat and it arrived today along with my Must Have box.) I am excited to try the brush on my hair and on my girls. We are always looking for brushes are pain free. I have a Stitch Fix account and added the promo code to my account, but I got a message that it would take a while to verify. Did anyone else get that message and if so, how long did it take for the credit to appear?? Not sure about the shadow and liner, but with everything else being so great it’s definitely no biggie if they aren’t fabulous.

I got my October box yesterday and tried the brush last night after my shower. I just have to say – it’s pretty amazing! I have really curly, very long hair that tangles like crazy. The only time I can brush it out is when it’s wet (if I brush it when it’s dry, it just becomes a big ‘fro). I haven’t been able to brush my hair with a brush for years. I can only use a large pick, and I still have to use a spray-in detangler and end up with lots of breakage. And it takes me a good 5 minutes to get my hair all tangle free and combed through.

But this brush was another story. This brush went right through my hair. No spray-in detangler (but I did use my normal L’Occitane shampoo and conditioner). I was amazed. A few hairs came off in the brush, but not like they do when I use the pick. I was able to brush right through my hair in about a minute. How this brush is able to do that I have no idea, but it might just be the best brush I’ve ever used. I was shocked at how awesome it is. 🙂

I have to comment on the brushe. My SIL bought one about a year ago after trying it at her salon and raved about it. I bought one and OMG, I’m not a weirdo about brushes but there honestly is no comparison. I bought two more because I have two little girls and I know how brushes can go “missing”. This is amazing for my long thick hair and equally so for little ones (no tears or screams, yay!) Of course, I don’t need another but I’ve wanted to gift it to friends so I’m still very excited!

As far as I know, the Stitch Fix card is usable for existing subscribers. It says several times on the information that you must already have an account OR sign up for a new one.

I got mine last week and LOVE IT! I like the cookbook, but I’ve seen better ones. The brush looks GREAT and can’t wait to use it. The clips and bracelet are cute. I was sooo happy to see the Julep top coat because I was going to order another one. I LOVE that top coat. I got the color Millie (a color I didn’t have.) The rice krispy was delish! I’m on the fence on whether to sign up for stitchfit because I have WAY too many boxes, but the code is a good deal. Overall, POPSUGAR is my fave subscription!

If you decided against Stitch Fix, I’d love it if you’d share your coupon code with me. They’re on the pricey side so a coupon would def help. (I’m getting ready to renew Pop Sugar so I’ll give you a referral credit if it works for upgrades). thanks!!

This is my second box and last month was underwhelming for me. I LOVED this box! I will use everything in it and the colors were perfect. I subscribed for a year to save on the cost. It’s my treat to myself.
My nail color was Char. A lovely purple.

This was my first box & I’m loving it! Looking forward to trying the brush & cookbook as well as the eye shadow. Since learning about the price increase I’m hoping the boxes after this will also be just as good.

When I signed up, October’s box was sold out. But I just received an email saying they have one available for me, yay! Looks like a great first box.

Tiffany

This was my first box and I am thrilled with it!! My eye shadow box was broken, but nothing a little super glue won’t fix! I was on the fence about the price increase, but after this box I am willing to try a 3-month subscription to see if I still love it.

I’m an existing StitchFix subscriber, and I was able to use the code. I assumed I wouldn’t be able to, so I was pleasantly surprised. I hope you still have it!
