popsugar must have

If you were thinking about getting the February POPSUGAR Must Have box as a Valentine's Day gift, or if you're just dying to know what's in the box like I was, I thought I'd post spoilers this month!

(FYI - if you haven't signed up yet, use coupon code BOX10 to save $10!)

POPSUGAR Must Have February 2014

FYI - these spoilers are thanks to Instagram user Havison16, and some of the items are guesses.

Gorjana Brooks Jewelry Roll - Value $45

SugarWish Candy - Value possibly $25 (not sure)

Nourish Organic Argan Face Serum - Value $24

K Hall Peony Candle Tin - Value $11

Dial Vitamin Boost Body Wash - Value $4

Gorjana & Griffin Gift Card or Coupon (Not sure of value yet)

NCLA Nail Polish - Value $16

ModelCo Lip Duo - Lipstick and Lipgloss - Value $16

What do you think of the spoilers so far? The Dial body wash definitely seems out of place for me, but I'm going to assume that's just one of their "Beauty extras."

I’m pretty excited about this box. The face serum alone makes it worth it for me. I own some other Nourish brands and love them. I think the Dial is throwing everyone for a loop and bringing down the appearance of value for the box as a whole. Even if it is an extra, they’d probably have done better to leave it out. I use organic soaps and body washes, so I have no use for this. I already own a jewelry roll, but I love the ideas for alternative uses! I was one of the people who used the 50% off coupon, so I might have a bit less to be annoyed about? I would have paid a lot more for these items if I’d bought them separately, so I feel like I can’t complain. I have been annoyed in the past with other boxes when I know the value inside is less than what I paid for the box. I’ve been following this box for awhile. I’ve been hoping for another one like October 2013. That one looked amazing. I’ll give it another month and see how it goes. It’s kind of expensive, so if I’m not totally thrilled I won’t keep it up. I think that’s where Popsugar falls into a trap. They charge a lot and so people expect to be blown away everytime. It’s less of a hit to the wallet if you don’t like your birchbox every month.

Wow I’m surprised so many people are let down by this box… what were you expecting? I just got mine today and I thought everything in it was a pleasant surprise. I think most women would use or buy all of the smaller items in their day-to-day shopping (lip gloss, nail polish, moisturizer, etc) so it’s fun to receive some new brands… and I would usually never splurge on a $45 jewelry roll but I am certainly excited to receive one! Two thumbs up for me.

Well, I guess it really is different strokes for different folks and that’s what makes the world such an interesting place. I don’t want a jewelry roll or oil to spray on my face. I don’t like those candies and red nail polish. I don’t need another lipstick and I don’t use lip gloss but hoping the lipstick is a color I can use. I don’t want a gift card where I have to pay more money to get something. But, I LOVE candles.
Unlike many many people I absolutely loved every single thing in last months box. All this and I haven’t even received my Feb box yet! All this from spoilers and comments. Well, it is what it is, I took a gamble and IMO won last month and lost this month. I have one more month to go and that’s it. I am so over it now lol.
I totally understand the concept of subscription boxes and ….I get it!
That still doesn’t make it a disappointment when I get things I don’t like.
I’m human! Peace lol

First time subscriber to PopSugar ===>disappointed.
I’m really sad I wasted my first time customer coupon on this box. =(

I haven’t gotten my box yet but I’m kinda feeling the same way….there were so many subscription boxes to choose from—wish I had gone a different direction now.

@allcapsERINN

I miss my subscription to this box. 🙁

I wish I wouldn’t have clicked on the spoilers. This was going to be my first PopSugar box and I was so excited. Not really excited about this one. I might end up cancelling after one since it is so expensive!

Am I just an odd ball because I love every popsugar must have box. They always have the neatest things in them. Items I have never heard of and items I wouldn’t buy for myself. Granted the Dial is an exception (lol). I wished more of you loved your boxes. They are so much fun!

Keep us the great boxes Pop Sugar!!!

Katie

Not an oddball! I have yet to dislike a Popsugar box. The Dial is an extra in the box anyway, so I love it. Each box is different, and I get to try a bunch of stuff! If they keep it the same way it has been, they will definitely keep me as a customer!

Very disappointed this box looks terrible!

I decided to give Popsugar a try with the 50% off your first box promo code, and this is my first month. I have to say I’m disappointed. I expected to get nice chocolate, and a nice candle for the romance of it all. For $20 this is nice, but I don’t think I want to risk further disappointment when it goes up to $40. I’ll keep watching though, maybe things will improve.

Erin

There is a candle in the box, though maybe not what you’re looking for in terms of romance? Last year was very romance themed and folks HATED it (thongs, chocolate, a wrap). I think they tried to steer clear of romance as a theme due to e negative feedback last time.

Better than last months box and really like the Jewelry roll idea. Something I wouldn’t by for myself.

Helen Whaley

Shoot! I wish I hadn’t just bought myself a cute jewelry roll. Any ideas what you can use a jewelry roll for, other than storing jewelry?

Reply ButtonReply

Helen Whaley

There’s some good ideas, thanks. I like the knotting needle storage one too!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Knitting needles? Thank you for giving me the idea to use for something else..you made my night!

Reply ButtonReply

kara mishmash

thank you for this idea! I rarely switch up my necklace (my grandma’s fingerprint) and rings and earring fit so well in a small pill box that this is relatively unnecessary for me, I now have a use!

Karen

Maybe make-up, or your medicine.

Oh, and I need to comment on all the lovely smells that this box has in it. The lipgloss and face serum have a lovely argan oil smell (SO DELISH) and the candle smells amazing too. I usually don’t like floral smells, but this was a hit for my nosebuds. The Dial smells pretty good too, but I have to agree with others that this was a bit misplaced because it could be bought pretty much anywhere unlike the other goodies in the box.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

I agree, happy smells! I LOVE the candle’s scent. Has anyone heard of or used the face serum before? I’m having trouble finding reviews on it online and I was hoping it would be okay for sensitive skin! (better safe than sorry with new products!)

I appreciate a good debate over the subscription boxes– so I always like to add my opinion. I got 50% off this box, so for around $22.00 I thought it was a GREAT box; mostly because it allowed me to try so many different products that I would not be able to on my budget– (would any of you ladies have known about half these products?!) And even if you have heard of the products, it kind of pays for itself in shipping. If you were to buy each item from the website itself, you would probably be paying around $20 in shipping alone. ENJOY the box; don’t worry about the few bucks you decided to shell out. (You’ll earn it back eventually!) 🙂

what Erin and Hauteonthebox say….I say!

Lana

I’m SO with you! I don’t like everything in the box…but I like some of it, and that’s the whole idea! If I wanted to be sure I got stuff I loved, I would just buy them! I like the surprise factor, and the fact that I get to try out a lot of new things I wouldn’t buy myself!

Reply ButtonReply

Erin

Since they aren’t free donation boxes folks have the right to voice their disappointment and have it be accepted as legitimate opinion (key word). Not everyone got this box for $20. Many paid the full $40. For many of them the box wasn’t worth it. And to say each item + shipping would cost more if purchased separately assumes people would be buying those items independently to begin with. I’m familiar with every brand in the box as are many longtime subscribers (to Popsugar and other beauty/lifestyle subs) so I can’t say there was value added by virtue of finding new brands. I’m pretty sure everyone at least knows of Dial lol. Sharing constructive feedback helps improve the overall box curation as Popsugar reads reviews here and elsewhere like MUT. It is a bit unfair to tell others to get over it/be grateful. Were this a freebie I would agree. But as paying consumers, people have a right to share their disappointment as well as their happiness with the contents. I paid $20 so I’m fine with the box since that’s about the value TO ME. I would have preferred more lifestyle items beyond the candle since they bill themselves as a lifestyle subscription versus a beauty sub (this is a common complaint by many who were disappointed – too cosmetics heavy). So it’s great that you loved the box but not everyone does and they don’t necessarily need a lecture on why their opinion is wrong. It’s great to share both positive and negative opinions but it’s not necessarily helpful and is a bit condescending to chastise others who don’t share a given opinion, regardless where you fall on the opinion spectrum.

Glenda

Hmmm… not feeling as disappointed as last month (I don’t have a jewelry roll so that’s probably going to be pretty good to get), but also feeling like I’ll cancel after my three months is up next month… I subscribed because I thought the Oct. and Nov. boxes were fantastic and the Dec. was pretty good. This just isn’t meeting my expectations for the money.

Got my box today! Not a bad February even though I was hoping for jewelry. XD

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Well you can buy some with your coupon. Too bad there’s nothing for $25. 🙁 Can you tell I’m not happy about this box? Lol. Oh well I have to let it go 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Iris S

Gorjana-Griffin actually has a better deal going on right now with 35% off + free shipping, if I’m not mistaken. The $25 code isn’t really worth all that much to me because it can’t be used on sale items or combined with other promotions, so eh. But I’m actually not too upset with this month’s box overall. Hopefully March will make you smile though! 🙂

Pilar

Way better then last month, but I still feel like something else is missing.

michelle

Well i’m kind of disappointed 🙁 Last month I was over the moon. I only have one more box after this and my subscription’s up. I got the discount but will not renew because of the price. It’s almost like the products are all over the place. I wish there was more of a valentine theme other than candy hearts which I don’t really care for….where’ the chocolate? Oh they gave that all out at Christmas!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Just got mine today. The candy is a pack on cinnamon hearts. The gorjana gift card is for $25 and the sugar wish is for 29 percent off. Te polish is a dark red from ncla and the gloss is actually a duo with lipstick on the other end

Liz Cadman

Thanks for letting us know! Are you happy with the box?

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

No canceled it too
No. I paid through may before the price increase and just cancelled. Have not like any of the 3 I’ve gotten so far

Laura

Sorry meant 20 percent off not 29

Laura

Sorry meant 20 percent off

I have a lot of Gorjana jewelry, so I’m not too thrilled with the gift certificate. It’s usually $25, but you end up spending more (and you can’t use it on sale item.)

That lipstick looks like a combo of a solid one and lip gloss on the other side.

Not really excited about the spoilers.

I’ll just be happy if the box doesn’t contain thong underwear >< 😛

I know – I gifted this box to many people this holiday season, and I was really hoping there wouldn’t be a thong or something similar in this box! 🙂

Who is the lip gloss by? I don’t recognize the packaging. Not sure if I can afford to splurge on this. Still unemployed and my medical bills still mounting for the skin cancer.

It’s from ModelCo

Thanks! I can pass it up then. I like the jewelry roll though…and the cinnamon hearts.
