Untoxicating Beauty Subscription Box Review - Feb 2014

Untoxicating Beauty is a new eco-friendly beauty subscription box. I post about it a few months ago, and a few readers reached out to me to let me know that they subscribed and were impressed, so of course I had to sign up myself!

Untoxicating Beauty Subscription Box Review - Feb 2014 Letter

Each box comes with a letter detailing which brand(s) are featured in the box. This is my first box and I was surprised to see that they only featured one brand.

This month they featured Sheswai Nail Polish.

Untoxicating Beauty Subscription Box Review - Feb 2014 Polish

Sheswai Lacquer in Nice - Value $16

Sheswai Lacquer in Honeyfox - Value $16

Sheswai Lacquer in Magic - Value $16

These polishes are 5-free, and their caps are made with sustainably harvested wood. (I love the look of the wooden caps!)

Verdict: I paid $35 for this box and received $48 worth of polish (plus if I bought this polish from the Shewai site I'd have to pay $5 shipping). At first I wasn't sure how I felt about getting a box full of items from the same brand, but I think I'm a fan. I love all these polish colors, so I'm excited to try out Sheswai, and assuming I like the polish formula, I'll definitely be glad I have more than one polish!

Since I'm only one box in to this subscription, I'm going to give it a few more boxes to get a better sense of what I can expect with this subscription, but so far I'm impressed!

What do you think of Untoxicating Beauty?

Hi Liz,

Just wondering if you continued this subscription. I’d really like to see a few months before deciding. I like the idea, but I’m not so sure about the products for the price. However, I’m loving Saffron Rouge’s Inner Circle and am so glad that I found it through your site.

I got both the red and whitish ones and a sparkling brown polish… not too exciting that’s for sure. I will be swapping these, so look out for them if you want them! I’m going to give it one more month, if I don’t love it, it’s going to be a sub box cancelled!

I think I would have been less disappointed if the polish colors were more fun and unusual. But those are pretty bland colors. I wouldn’t start subscribing based on this box.

Those bottles are gorgeous but I think would have been disappointed if that was all I received.

I signed up from the beginning and the first box was 2 products, body lotion and a truffle facial cream both for the same company. The facial cream is $75.00 from the company’s website. Haven’t got the feb box yet but I do love polish so I’m excited

How many ounces are in each bottle? I couldn’t find it on their website.

I would cry if I paid $35 and only got three nail polishes- no matter how gorgeous they are.

I was very tempted by this box when it was first mentioned, but I think I’ll sit it out until I see a few more reviews…

I’d be so mad! There are lots of other sub boxes you could get that wouldn’t result in three nail polishes, lol. This seems like a risky subscription at the moment. They seem like great polishes, but I never want to open a box and find three of the exact same product in one box and nothing else. Especially if it’s nail polishes.

I agree- I would be horrified! Especially with the incredible variety and value you get with other beauty boxes that are this pricy.

I agree $35 for nail polish – why?

Chelsea

The polishes look beautiful, but tiny!! Are the polishes you received full size bottles, or are they smaller versions? Maybe a photo size comparison is in order?
