I tried 3 meals with Plated so far and did so because of this deal. Its kind of pricey at $12 a plate, but the portions are generous so you really can get almost double the amount for each meal. We usually have left overs and extras. Here are my thoughts:
Pros:
Easy to prepare meals
Have everything you need to make the meals, save for a few common pantry items
Healthy and veggie driven – even on the animal protein dishes
Generous portions
Great recipe with picture cards
Excellent packaging and on time delivery
Mostly good quality food items
Cons:
Kind of pricey at $12 per plate (but may be economical due to decent portion sizes)
Food is bland
Sometimes the veggies are close to in trouble when you receive the package
As to the food is bland, I think for me that is the biggest problem. I wish they would make suggestions for adding more flavor or spice to each dish for people who like food with flavor. For instance, on the recent seared tuna dish, we found a great Asian inspired marinade and it really made the dish. The Plated recipe was super bland, just basically salt and pepper on the fish. The Asian marinade really knocked it out of the park and I otherwise liked the healthiness and variety of the salad part of the dish.
This is good for busy people or a new cook who wants fresh, healthy, and fast options. But the food is bland – if you do it, I recommend having some sauces and spices ready and customize it for your pallet.
