Fancy Box Subscription Review – July

The Fancy Box is the original Fancy subscription box. They let you customize this box based on interests, but from what I’ve observed I think the only big variations in box depend on your gender preference for the box.

Fancy kindly sent me the July box to review.

Fancy Box Subscription Review – July 2014 Cards

This month's theme is summer essentials for the beach or pool. There were also individual cards detailing each item included.

Fancy Box Subscription Review – July 2014 Tote

The Pool Tote - Value $20?

I love all things nautical, and I can never have enough totes, so this item was an instant hit for me - plus I love the design!

Fancy Box Subscription Review – July 2014 Towel

I'm Busy Towel - Value $35?

This is a very large oversized beach towel (I couldn't fit it all in the picture!)

Fancy Box Subscription Review – July 2014 Ice Cube

King Cube Ice Tray - Value $10

I never use ice cube trays, but my mom loves these so they go to her!

Fancy Box Subscription Review – July 2014 Speaker

Soundwave Bluetooth Speaker - Value $40

I love the design of this speaker! The sound quality is pretty good too. (The volume control isn't working for me, but I can adjust volume via my phone).

Verdict: I think this is one of the best Fancy boxes I've ever received. I love the theme, and I think everything is thoughtfully curated - all good items! This month's box has a value of about $105 too. (I had to estimate values of the first two items).

What did you think of the July Fancy Box?

I don’t really get the valuations for the first two items. I would say $10 max for each item.

I forgot to mention, I read reviews about the speaker on Amazon. According to what I read, the volume knob does not work, it can only be adjusted by your own device.

The volume button worked for me when I held it down rather than clicked it, but it’s definitely finicky!

I agree with the person who says that the Fancy items are in a rut. That said, I was about to cancel my subscription (last month’s box was awful) and this one is considerably better. But, they are on notice with me.

This was the last fancy box of a gift subscription I received, and it went out with a bang for me! I love that speaker so much, I’ve been using it everywhere, lol. And the beach towel went right into my car in case I go to a park or a concert. I’ve already used it about 10 times, lol.

The tote is a good pool tote, but nothing too special. I was SO not excited about the ice cube tray…but now I’ve been using it, and the king cubes are actually really nice in a tumbler. Love it.

Sneaky Burrito

Exactly how many novelty ice cube trays does Fancy think one person needs?

Not to disparage anyone who likes these boxes (I’m sure there are things I like that other people don’t!), but the recipe for Fancy boxes seems to be to pick 3 or more of the following:

1) Nail wraps
2) Ear buds/ear bud splitters/speakers
3) Novelty ice cube trays
4) Mix and match item (shirt, towel, wall decal) with a saying (“work hard, stay humble,” “no scrubs,” “gym selfie,” “I’m busy,” etc., etc.)

In other words, nothing I can ever see myself being interested in. Oh well, it’s nice to visit this site and see a box I *don’t* want for a change. Better for my wallet that way.
