POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review

POPSUGAR Must Have is one of my favorite subscription boxes for women - I think they almost always have a great mix of beauty, fashion and lifestyle items.

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Items

he Subscription Box: POPSUGAR Must Have

The Cost: 39.95 a month

The Products: “Must Have” items for women selected by POPSUGAR editors. (Fitness, Home, Beauty, Food, and more)

Check out all of my POPSUGAR Must Have reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Info

Each box comes with a card that details each item included and why the editors selected it for the box.

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Hat

Michael Stars Beach Hat - Value $48

I really like the style of this hat now that I see it in person, but sadly it's slightly tight on my head. (I'm hoping it will stretch out a little!)

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Dang

Dang Foods Toasted Coconut Chips - Value $3

ACME Party Box Company Chevron Straws - Value $7

These coconut chips are amazing/addicting - and I love that they are naturally gluten and dairy free! These chevron striped straws are adorable too. (I'm not sure how well they hold up in liquid compared to plastic straws though). I have a few glasses like this set, so I think I'll need to pair them up!

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Sun Bum

Sun Bum SPF 30 Sunscreen and Cool Down Lotion - Value $20 total

This SPF has that classic sunscreen scent I love, and it's paraben free!

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Spoons

French Bull Ziggy Salad Servers - Value $12

We already have the matching dinner plates to this pattern, so these salad servers will be a nice addition! (And I love that these are dishwasher safe!)

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Jump Rope

TKO Jump Rope with Soft Grip Handles - Value $13

It seems like with the hat and the sunscreen, a lot of this box has to do with summer travel, and I guess a jump rope is a perfect tool to pack for fitness away from home. (I'm not super excited about this item, but I'll use it!)

POPSUGAR Must Have July 2014 Review & Coupon Mascara

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara – Value $7

This item is labeled as a "Special Extra From Revlon" on the POPSUGAR card, so I'm assuming it's a sponsored item? I have no problem with that, and was thinking that must be the case before I even read the card since this mascara has been popping up in a few subscription boxes this summer. It seems to get good reviews, so I guess I'll give it a try!

Verdict: I paid $40 for this box and received about $110 worth of items. I'm happy with the value of the box, and I'll use everything in the box. This isn't my favorite POPSUGAR box ever, but I have a feeling it's one of those boxes where I'm not overwhelmed by it at first, but at the end of the month I'll realize I'm using a ton of the products.

What did you think of the POPSUGAR Must Have box for July?

How do you resubscribe? I have an account but don’t have an active sub. I want to use a coupon but it says you have to be a new subscriber. How do people get around this?

I liked this box better than the Summer Must Have – salad spoons go in the dishwasher – not like the glasses that are to be hand washed – and I love the hat – fits perfect – add to my summer collection. Already ate all the chips – will look for them at the store – was going to pick up a jump rope – that was a great surprise – and can always use tubes of sunblock – and SunBum is a good brand – recently bought it in SC – mascara will give to one of my daughters – who wears mascara to the beach! Enjoy not wearing makeup for a change!
Perfect box for the summer –

I just LOVED this box! Especially since I’m going on vacation in a few weeks! I will get so much use out of the sun screen and lotion, as well as the hat. I never thought I was a hat person but soon as I put this one on I fell in love. I wore it to the park the other day with a cute polka dot skirt and got lots of compliments! The salad tongs are very cute though I don’t need them, so they’ll be gifted or swapped. My husband has been wanting a jump rope believe it or not so we were both thrilled to see that item in the box! Really a big win for me this month 🙂

My box arrived on Saturday. I received the exact same items as Liz except no curation card. The hat fits fine. I notice that it seems to fit better with the bow in the back. I love all the items and will gift the mascara. Can’t wait to try out the sunscreen.

I think this box is great. Nothing too avant guard, but a bunch of stuff I will use- just what I want. I am canceling fabfitfun and keeping popsugar- for me, at least, it is a much better fit.

I have been looking forward to this box, but it seems mine has been misplaced by the USPS. 🙁

I tried to loosen with the leather string, but it only seems to tighten as mine came on the loosest setting. The hat was too tight for me, but I really wanted to wear it on my deck this summer, so I shoved it on my head, endured a headache for a few hours, and eventually it loosened up. So, it does stretch! I also placed it on my knee and then opened and closed my leg a bunch of times, I feel like that helped.

I liked this box a lot. I have a kitchen rug that matches the salad servers (same company, French Bull), so that made me happy. The hat is really cute and fits fine. Everything else will get used (well, maybe not the jump rope so much, although I should). Pop Sugar seems the most consistent of all the sub boxes. Every few months there’s one that doesn’t have as much that I like, but it always ends up being stuff I can pass along to my teenage nieces, my sisters or friends as gifts. I feel like the value of the box vs. what you get is almost always good.

I LOVE my PSMH box this month, and I love every month’s box, usually for different reasons. 🙂
I got the same hat as you, and it fits just fine on my head, which has a ton of very thick hair. Lots of people have complained about the size, most saying the hat is too small. I’m wondering if they are just not used to putting on a hat and wearing it. You don’t just pull them down and let it go, there is a process of putting a hat on so that it looks its best and is most comfortable.

I don’t know why you have a set of the plastic plates, as I’ve never owned plastic plates, but hooray that you now have salad serving spoons to match I guess.
I like them as a stand alone novelty item for summer meals.

I love the jump rope and know that jumping rope is a good cardio exercise for all. This one is easy to adjust if a person is short ( I’m not and you’re not).

I’ve had the Dang coconut chips in a Foodzie box before and liked them fine, but am not over the moon about a bag of chips. Ditto with the paper straws. Cute novelty items but not durable goods.

Since we have a large backyard pool, I will use the sun products and am glad to have ” fresh” ones, as most of my sunscreens are from last year and I hesitate to use them now.
The one item I might not ever use is the Revlon mascara as I have sensitive eyes and prefer a more natural formula than Revlon cosmetics provide, but it’s an extra, so nothing lost, really.

All in all, I think this is a summer- themed box which is cute as heck and a delight to open and view as it was packaged. The curation on the regular monthly Pop Sugar boxes is the best in the sub world in the deluxe lifestyle category, IMO. They send me things I never would have thought to buy, and some things might not even be interesting on their own, but with the other items, become very special.
I put the June lemon wipes, the pretty striped towel, and the package of hair ties in with my July items and it all is themed so nicely. I think the hybrid box would be a great gift to give or to receive- and I will have fun using the products.

Every month, Pop Sugar’s box is a box of FUN for me, special and set apart from all other subs I receive ( which, like you, are around 50 boxes per month now).

Sarah

I seriously hope your estimate of receiving around 50 boxes a month is an exaggeration, lol. I receive 16 and I can’t keep up with all of the stuff that I receive. (I do every single LE box too- so sometimes it’s around 20 a month). Seriously, it straight up is an addiction. No joke. 🙂

Sneaky Burrito

I was up to 18 and I couldn’t keep up. I’ve canceled 6 (but added 2…) and my goal is to be down to about 8 or 9.

Popsugar is one of my favorite subs. I received the dark brown hat but had hoped for the lighter one. My husband thinks it looks great on me so I guess it will do. I am not happy with the white buttons with pink thread so I am removing them and sewing on some beads I had laying around.

Everything else was a win either for my own use or for the gift pile.

Kathy, I totally agree with you!

My sister said the hat looked good on me. I received the dark brown color and plan to change out the buttons, etc.

Everything else will be used by me or put away in my ever-growing future Christmas present stash.

I liked the box in total. Not my normal *love*, but I have no complaints!

I would have preferred the hat in black, as shown on the designer’s website. I have a huge head, most women’s hats do not fit, and this one (snuggly) does.

I agree, perfect balance of items. I like that the hat has wire in the brim so you can shape it anyway you want. Of course I’m from Austin, TX so this is great.

I got the hat in a dark brown color and it is slightly too big! 🙂 When I first saw it peeping out of the edge of the wrapping paper, I was first like “Please, NOT another bag/clutch”
Overall, it is a nice box with a nice mix of items. Pop Sugar is definitely my favorite box of them all.

Those coconut chips were in my belly in an instant!! And the mascara is fabulous–i used it this morning!

I loved my box! The hat was an instant favorite. I didn’t have any trouble with the paper straws holding up in my piña coladas. I also loved the serving spoons. I thought the box this month had a great variety. Popsugar is probably becoming my favorites subscription. ( I get ipsy, phone case of the month and fab fit fun) (recently canceled barkbox)

Thanks for letting us know the straws hold up well!

Not every item is for me, but I think this is a perfectly balanced box. It’s got fashion, fitness, home and beauty. It feels summery and on trend. The curation has gotten better lately.

I am relieved to hear the hat is tight on your head too! I was blaming it on my big head! I hope it stretches out too. I have been wanting a summer hat and it’d be great to use one that I already paid for! Of course, I did just buy sunscreen. Oh well, can’t have too much of that!

Regan

I’m pretty sure you can untie the bow on the hat and loosen it’s fit.

Erin Braun

The hat is somewhat adjustable. You can loosen and tighten the leather string.

I thought that this month had a nice mix. This was my first experience with the coconut chips– they were tasty but when I first saw them they reminded me of uncooked egg noodles!

Every time I see your reviews of this box I keep wishing they ship to Puerto Rico. This box, as well as others is great!

The hat was a no go for me, my head is too big. It fits my nineteen year old daughter but she doesn’t like hats. Everything else was good.

Love the box but would have been more thrilled if it would have arrived before I left on vacation!

Also loved the box. Perfect for summer! I loved the coconut chips that I bought them at my local market.
