Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review - August

Yuzen is one of the original eco subscription boxes. It’s a mix of spa, beauty and the occasional food item, and everything is made with natural ingredients.

Yuzen kindly sent me this box for review purposes.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Info

Each box comes with a fold out card that details the items and brands featured. On each item they also let you know why they chose it for the box. (As far as card info goes in subscriptions boxes – I think this is one of the best).

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Whet

SpaRitual Cuti-Cocktail Pen & Pusher - FULL SIZE! Value $17

Whet Nail Lacquer in Hubris - 10 ml Value $9

I just tried this cuticle pen and I love it. (FYI - it's one of those applicators like the Stila Lip Glazes - AKA it seems like you can wind it up forever until it finally dispenses the cuticle oil, and then you realize you've wound it way too much!)

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Weleda

Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Lotion - FULL SIZE! Value $12

Eminence Organic Skincare Wild Plum Eye Cream - 10 ml Value $20

Dr. Hauschka Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence - 10 ml Value $3

I really like Weleda lotions - they absorb quickly and they are very lightweight. I wasn't sure if I'd like the pomegranate scent, but it's very subtle.

I'm also very excited about this eye cream - it's a third of the size of the full size version, so it should be enough for me to see how it works with my skin.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Annies

Annie's Organic Fruit Snacks Berry Patch - Value $1

Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream - 10 ml Value $8

I love Annie's Organic fruit snacks! These were devoured immediately after taking this picture! This Tatcha hand cream is lovely too! And its actually indigo colored!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $70 - more than double the $33 cost! I think the value is great, the sizes of the items are all good, and I'll use every single item! What do you think of the latest Yuzen box?

I shared the Tatcha hand cream with my sister when she was visiting and am almost out. This is now my favorite handcream. I ordered a new one off the hyperlink in this post. It was super easy with free shipping, free samples, and I was able to pay by paypal. I ordered another travel size since I do have the hand cream from Escape Monthly to use up. That is nice too, but I see a difference in my hands with the Tatcha.

I just wanted to share this about another sub and not sure where to post it. I put a comment on mysubscription addiction facebook but didn’t see any response. Anyway, there is a sub called Fortune Cookie Soap company. It is 4 times a year and 19.99 a month. Their concept is to send out a box of samples of their new products for the upcoming season. I just joined and their fall box is shipping in a few days. They have pics of previous boxes. I believe included in all of their boxes is a fortune cookie soap, their OCD hand sanitizer and body butter. It doesn’t look like any huge value but it looks like a lot of fun! I’m hoping Liz (Liz?) will add this to my subscription addiction.

Great, thank you very much!

I have subscribed to this box for ~2 years now and have never been disappointed! The products are always high quality and I have discover a lot of new brands! Beautiful packaging and well thought out products are always part of this subscription box. I would vote that this is the best subscription box available today, I have tried others that don’t measure up in quality or service.

Ooh Eminence is a-mazing. I swear by their blueberry night cream. Spa Ritual makes great nail care products too. I would use every single thing in this box!

Do you know if this box is still available? I think it’s one of the best boxes for me….I could use everything for once!

Sneaky Burrito

This one should be available for awhile. They only ship every 3 months and you usually get the current season’s box even if you sign up a bit late.

Michelle

Thank you! I will check it out.

Sneaky Burrito

Mine is sitting in pre-shipment somewhere. Hopefully it will come next week.

I got a full-sized version of that Weleda lotion as a gift with purchase from another site. It’s a good lotion, but I don’t like the smell — to me, it smells like glue (and not at all like any kind of fruit). Glad the fruit snacks are vegetarian. Not sure I care for the nail polish color but I can always try slapping some nail art stickers on it to add interest (plus there might be some variation in color). Just got a huge thing of eye cream from Beauty DNA so this one will wait for awhile.

I sound kind of negative but the value of the box is actually pretty good and everything will get used eventually. And it’s mostly stuff I haven’t tried before.

I agree about the Weleda– seemed to have a plastic-y smell for me when I got it in another sub. I also remembered it having a short expiration… My Yuzen is also sitting in nowhere land– I’ll have to see if this one has an expiration date.

Sneaky Burrito

I didn’t even check the expiration date on the one I already have. Better do that when I get home.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks the smell is odd.

I got that spa ritual cuticle oil in a pack with a nail polish and a crocheted makeup bag for $5 at tj maxx last month. It was an exciting find.

I can’t comment on anything else, but I can say that I love Eminence Organics and that particular eye cream of theirs is my absolute favorite (they have others too). I’d be jealous if I didn’t already have it.

I wish Yuzen was monthly instead of quarterly 🙁 This is by far one of my favorite subs!

Melissa

I totally agree! I wish this was monthly! It’s the only subscription box I know I’ll use everything in!! (I don’t like having a lot of color cosmetics in my box, I want skin and body care and other wellness goodies!)

HeatherP

I agree! this is such a fave of mine, I would easily sub for monthly if it were available. I like that they did a gift box this summer tho, it was a great one!! I hope they do that more often between waiting each quarter

What all was in the summer gift box?
