Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – October 2014 Bag

Blush Mystery Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box from Blush.com. I’ve been very impressed with this subscription in general because of the value (usually over $100), the brands (typically at least a few high-end  lines), and the size of the items (everything is usually full sized or deluxe sized).

FYI - Originally this subscription sent out a lot of makeup, but lately it seems like hair products and skincare products are the most common.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – October 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included. (They used to have a new curator each month, but it seems like they've done away with that).

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – October 2014 Shampoo

Klorane Shampoo with Desert Date - FULL SIZE! Value $15

Batiste Dry Shampoo - (1.6 oz) Value $2

I really like the Klorane brand, and this date shampoo smells wonderful - plus it's so rare to get a full sized shampoo in a subscription box! I'm not a huge fan of the Batiste dry shampoo scent, but I know it's one of those drugstore cult classic beauty items a lot of people will be happy to have!

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – October 2014 Cargo

Cargo BeachBlush in Cable Beach - FULL SIZE! Value $30`

I was worried this blush would look too shimmery on, but it goes on with such a natural pink finish. This may be my favorite item in the box!

Blush Mystery Beauty Box Review – October 2014 Glytone

Glytone Hydrate Eye Cream - FULL SIZE! Value $38

StriVectin-AR Advanced Retinol Night Treatment - . 25 oz Value $16

Sigh... I was hoping for a larger sized StriVection sample! (The full size version is $109, so I really need to see results before I buy it!) This sample should last me at least a week though. (I am happy about the full-size eye cream though!)

Verdict: I paid $25 (plus tax) for this box and I received a little over $100 worth of beauty items. I'll use everything but the Batiste, so the value is great for me this month.

What do you think of the October Blush Mystery Beauty Box?

The December bag has another full size Klorane shampoo. Same exact one. It’s also missing the card that explains the products and there are some that I had to look up. The value is there but wasn’t thrilled.

I looked hard for the Nov Blush reviews because I cancelled Blush a few months back (3-4 months). I found it a days ago and immediately ordered. I was not thrilled with the box because of the conditioner but I knew that I would use everything else and may try the conditioner but I have thick hair and not thin/Normal. I Already received the the box and free gift for the 1 oz philosophy Purity cleanser which I always wanted to try. The samples were small this month and again too much hair care in the box but I am still pleased. I hope the value is better next month and larger samples full size skin care and makeup. We haven’t received an anti aging face cream or serum in a long time, just eye creams nor a face cleanser. I hope they incorporate these into the box. They have went downhill from when I first subbed but I am happy to see good brands in the box.

Debating this bag cause I like that shampoo for my daughter, well the one they sent a few months ago from that brand. Been waiting for a review of the rest of the bag, does not look too exciting but maybe ok

This used to be my favorite sub and I cancelled before receiving the box for Sep when I saw the spoilers.

Do you notice they send the tiny good brand skin care, I figured it. That is to get you to buy the full size. They already sent eye cream a few months back full size and they send so much hair care.

If they send more makeup and full size good skin care, eye cream excluded I have a ton I will rejoin!

I am so bummed with this company! I ordered their monthly beauty box subscription after reading the review here. First “bag” arrived in August. Unfortunately, the nail polish had opened in transit and got on everything. I contacted customer service and they said a replacement would be mailed right away. In September, I received an email that said that months order was cancelled due to DOT regulations. I live in Hawaii and I guess one of the items in the bag could not fly over a sea. I contacted CS again. They said they would send me the bag without that item and give me a 10% discount. In October, the exact same thing happened. Order automatically cancelled because one item did not meet DOT regulations. I contacted CS by email and suggested they start planning for this type of thing, by having a replacement item for those customers living outside the continental US. Their reply to me said they were sorry they couldn’t do that and guess what else?? The email said they had gone ahead and cancelled my monthly beauty subscription. I was shocked. This is one strange company. I guess they have enough customers.

I just got my box today and I love it, I love the shampoo I’m tired of all the hair products they’ve been sending and excited to get something I’ll actually use. I already love the Klorane dry shampoo, so I can’t wait to use the shampoo. I love the Cargo blush, it’s a beautiful color, I’ll end up using the dry shampoo. Wow I just opened the StriVectin and the sample is very small compared to the box, but I’m excited to try it.

I agree Liz! I was really hoping for a larger StriVectin product! I’d gladly have all the other items in samole or deluxe sample sizes instead! The shampoo does smell good but I couldn’t find the ingredient list. I only use sulfate-free and I know I’ve seen other Klorane shampoos online that did contain sulfates. The Batiste has such a huge cult following so I bought some at Ulta several months ago and hated it! My fine straight hair became even limper. I can’t say with certainty but I am not sure Cargo sells the multi colored blush tins anymore. Also, I have too many blushes as I’ve always been a complete beauty junkie and recently became a subscription box junkie thanks to you! : ) I’m having so much fun but spending too much money! LOL.

I need to figure out how to participate in your swapping program. Is there a waiting list?

Thanks for all the hard work on your AMAZING site, info and coupons!

I received my first bag on Saturday and I was disappointed. The Cargo blush was all crumbled. I am so glad you posted a picture of it so I could see what it should have looked at. In addition to that damaged item, I was overwhelmed by the whole bag. I have enough subscriptions now to know which works well with me and this isn’t one I will stick with.

I love the Blush Mystery Box/bag, but I am so tired of dry shampoos. I use this so rarely on of these cans will last me more than a year. I am excited about the blush and the Klorane shampoo I just wish they had included the conditioner, I must use conditioner every time I shampoo so that would have been great, oh well. The eye cream and night treatment are nice, I can always use them.

What do you use the mystery bags themselves for? I use them as shoe bags for when I travel. I was just wondering what others use them for…

Dani

Hi Robin! What a great idea—shoe bags. Thanks! This is only my 2nd Blush box but Sephora used to pack all orders in similar bags of varying sizes depending on your order. I use them for travel as well—jewelry, beauty products, panties/bras…anything smaller I want to keep together. The bigger ones I use for dirty swimsuits, underthings or other dirty clothes depending on how much room (best for just a weekend away in this case) b/c you can just empty the bag and wash it right along with the clothes. Thanks again for the shoe tip!

You got your box so early!! It’s only 4 days into October, their shipping is super impressive. I love the Blush mystery bag, but this bag is a little underwhelming for me, but I love the Cargo blush, so that alone makes it worth it this month.

I know that some people are really bummed about the Glytone, but I really like it and am happy to have another tube.

Cecilia

Well, as long as the Glytone isn’t expired, I will enjoy tring it. That was in a box at the beginning of this year.
