This month’s theme is Healthy Eating. Each box comes with a folded sheet detailing each of the items included:
They also included recipes that feature the items in the box: Shrimp Pad Thai with Zucchini Noodles, Sriracha Salmon over Leek & Parsnip Rice, and Chai Ginger Apple Crisp.
Paderno Spiral Vegetable Slicer - Retail Value $39.95 (On Amazon for $33.24)
I'm pretty much in love with this machine. It is made with BPA free plastic, it is dishwasher safe, and the blade parts store in the machine when it isn't in use.
So far I've used it with zucchini, cucumber and carrots, but it works with a lot of other vegetables too.
Better Off Spread The Ace of Spice Spicy Peppery Organic Peanut Butter - Value $10
Nuts.com Chia Ginger Superfood Cereal - Value $6.99
Both of these items are amazing. The Better Off Spread is all organic, gluten-free and vegan - and the spicy taste with peanut butter is great. I think we'll be using this for sauces for noodle dishes moving forward.
And I have to admit I finished this Chia Ginger Superfood Cereal in one sitting. It's so good and not too sweet. I think I'm going try out some other mixes from Nuts.com too.
Greenpoint Trading Co. Dracula's Nightmare Salt Free Garlic Seasoning - Value $6.25
Love Hard Inc. Jojo's Sriracha Chili Sauce - Value $12
This seasoning is made with sesame seeds, garlic, onion, oregano, basil, celery seeds, marjoram, paprika and thyme. It smells amazing! I can't really go without salt at meal, but this will probably help me use a little less.
This Sriracha sauce is made with just chili peppers, organic distilled vinegar, organic garlic, sea salt, and organic palm sugar. For such a high-quality item I'm going to have to cook up a different use for it besides what we usually use sriracha for - adding to our chipotle burrito bowls!
Verdict: I think this is my favorite Hamptons Lane box ever. The retail value is great - over $68. Even more importantly, the value to me is awesome - I love every single food item and the spiralizer is such a great tool. (With my gluten and dairy diet restrictions, food boxes often aren't 100% useable for me, so I may be more pumped about this box than others!)
So far I've made zucchini spirals and added them to scrambled eggs - the results were great. My husband and I couldn't really tell the difference between eggs with or without the zucchini - which means it will be super easy to up the veggie portion of breakfast!
I also used it for a mix of carrot, zucchini, and cucumber spirals served with ground turkey, and rice. It was delicious and very easy to make. (Hopefully just switching out sauces for that dish will keep it interesting since I want to make it a lot now).
What do you think of the January Hamptons Lane? Any Spiralizer recipe recommendations?
